Chapter 31: Chevalier Noir Part 1

(Three Days Later)

Literally right after Jim had made his challenge to Draal, things over on Marinette's end had turned chaotic with Mylene's akumtization into Horrificator. To put it simply, the movie that Nino had roped his classmates into making had been triggering to Mylene's, a member of Marinette's friend group and lead female of Nino's movie, many fears, giving Chloé the perfect opportunity to torment the poor girl. Despite the class's attempts to let Mylene keep the lead role, which included Alya suggesting Marinette filling in for Mylene until she calmed down, Chloé kept making advances to take her place to steal a kiss, a little tweak Nino had made to the script, from the male lead, who just happened to be Adrien. But their whole afternoon soon turned into a real life horror movie when Horificator appeared and took the whole school building captive and trapped all who were still inside with a wall of indestructible goo.

When Marinette and Adrien managed to slip away and defeat the villain, things returned to normal, even if the next day Nino's filming of the entire battle to submit as his movie had failed to make the cut to enter the film competition. But after defeating another akuma a mere three days after Horificator, Marinette had more pressing things on her mind as she entered her room, still transformed as Ladybug, through the trapdoor.

"Ladybug and Chat Noir have saved Paris yet again!" Nadja reported from Marinette's computer as the girl transformed back into her civilian self, plopping down into her desk chair.

"And yet again, Marinette hopes that she'll finally have enough time to complete her 'Magic Box'." Marinette narrated out loud as she quickly grabbed a pink half-circle shaped box from underneath her desk. Once she placed it on her desktop, and popped the lid of it open, she reached for a screwdriver and wrench to begin frantically tinkering the inside of the box.

"What exactly is this so-called 'Magic Box', Marinette?" Tikki asked as she floated next to Marinette, who finished tinkering inside the box and turned to look at her kwami.

"To lock up my diary and important secrets." Marinette explained before she went back to tinkering with the inside of the box, sans the wrench and screwdriver.

"Wait a minute! You're telling me that you have written every secret you have in that little book?!" Tikki worriedly questioned as Marinette finished tinkering with the inner workings of the 'Magic Box'.

"Yes, of course. Why?" Marinette confirmed before she tested the box's lid hinges a few times.

"Well for one, considering that you write every one of your secrets in your diary, what if someone finds out your brother is the Trollhunter!?" Tikki pointed out as Marinette placed the box back onto her desk and reached for her coveted diary.

"Second and worst of all, what if someone finds out you're Ladybug!?" Tikki worriedly exclaimed as she sat down on the top of the open lid of the 'Magic Box' while Marinette gently placed the diary inside.

"Which is why I made the 'Magic Box' to begin with." Marinette admitted with a confident smile as she placed her arms on her desk as she addressed her worried kwami. "Try it Tikki." the designer challenged. Tikki quickly accepted said challenge, and flew down to the open box to try and take the diary. But when she tried to lift the book, the lid slammed down and locked Tikki inside.

"Hey!" Tikki exclaimed, her shout muffled from being locked inside the box.

"IT WORKS!!" Marinette exclaimed in accomplishment, holding the key she made to unlock the box in her left hand so she could let Tikki out.

"Yesterday, Mr. Bourgeois was re-elected as mayor of Paris for the fourth consecutive term." Nadja reports from Marinette's computer as she unlocked the box to free Tikki, before turning to face the news broadcast playing on her monitor. "Here we see Mr. Bourgeois with his daughter," the reporter announces as the screen shifts to show Mayor Bourgeois and Chloé as they waved to the paparazzi, much to Marinette's annoyance.

"Ugh, look at Chloé, acting as if she were the mayor!" Marinette groaned as she pushed back from her desk in her rant, after the camera had zoomed in on her bullying classmate. Even after Sabrina's testimony about Chloé, Marinette was sure that the heiress had no chance to be redeemed. Which led to her remembering...

"Which reminds me, class rep elections are tomorrow!" the designer exclaimed, jumping out of her chair in her shock, and walked to the middle of her room duing her musing.

"What's so bad about that?" Tikki asked as she continued to float in the air near Marinette.

"Chloé is running for class rep." Marinette revealed, effortlessly gliding into her desk chair as she spoke. "The one person who cares the least about the students and the most about herself!" the designer lamented as she pulled her legs up to her chest, feeling helpless to do anything to stop Chloé's continuous term of torment on their classmates.

"Well, maybe you should run." Tikki suggested as Marinette turned her chair so she could face her desk.

"I totally would, Tikki. But don't you think I've got enough on my plate being Ladybug and my schoolwork?" Marinette questioned, trying to be realistic and not make things more difficult for herself than they were already. It was bad enough that akuma attacks made her more late to school and other things than she had ever been. But to let the other students down because of that too... it would eat Marinette away from the inside out.

"Yes, but, if you truly believe in something, you have to try and make it work. It's better to fail trying, than not having tried at all!" Tikki countered, knowing that while Marinette was already so busy, she could still find a way to make it work like she did as Ladybug on the daily.

"Maybe..." Marinette trailed off, considering Tikki's idea more after the kwami's words.

"Don't underestimate yourself, Marinette!" Tikki encouraged as she sat on top of Marinette's head, making the girl smile up at the little creature, before turning to look back at the news broadcast on her computer.

"Armand D'Argencourt, one of Bourgeois's opponents, and fencing instructors of Françoise Dupont High School, was pummeled in the polls." Nadja reported when the news showed a clip of D'Argencourt running from the paparazzi to avoid their questions. "In fact, D'Argencourt acquired the least number of votes in Paris History." the reporter regaled as the news showed the poll numbers between the two candidates, with D'Argencourt having 3% against Mayor Bourgeois's 97%.

'Mostly due to bribes on the Mayor's part, I bet.' Marinette thought to herself when she saw the poll results. But she was pulled away from the news when she saw that the clock on the news broadcast proudly displayed 8:45. "Ah, I'm going to be late for school! Again! See, this is what I'm talking about!" the designer exclaimed as she got up from her chair, and hurriedly put her 'Magic Box' into her vanity drawer. Then after grabbing her school bag and closing her computer, Marinette bolted out of her room to make it to school on time yet again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Marinette was breaking the land speed record just to make it to class on time, Ms. Bustier was standing in front of her desk, talking about the class election while Chloé and Sabrina stood next to her.

"Chloé is running for the class representative position and Sabrina will be her deputy. Do we have any other candidates?" Ms. Bustier asked, to which left the entire class silent. But then Kim bravely raised his hand, to which earned him a glare from Chloé and Sabrina. "Yes, Kim?" the teacher questioned hopefully, only for Kim to see that he would be dead meat if he said anything more.

"Um, er... nothing." Kim replied, backing down from his attempt at becoming a candidate for class rep, just before Marinette entered the classroom.

"Hi! I'm sorry! I-uh, I-uh, the bus." Marinette began to explain as she made her way to her desk, only to realize that that certain excuse wouldn't work, and instead started coughing. "Dry throat!" the designer exclaimed before she sat down, placing her bag in front of her to keep Ms. Bustier from catching her so she could talk to Alya, who had her tablet in front of her to achieve the same goal.

"Chloé's running again! She's been a class rep since when? Kindergarten?" Alya asked in a whisper, recalling some of the facts that Marinette had told her when she asked about the blonde brat on her first week of school.

"Oh! Why don't you run as a candidate? You'd make an awesome representative!" Marinette quietly suggested, hoping that Alya would rise up to the task so that: A) Chloé would be overthrown, and B) Marinette could be Ladybug, knowing that the class would be in good hands.

"No can do. My blog is a full-time job!" Alya replied in a whisper, dashing Marinette's hopes for her BFF to unknowingly help her out.

"Alright, I'll give all of you till the end of morning break to decide if you'd like to be a candidate." Ms. Bustier announced, bringing Marinette and Alya out of their conversation and directing their focus back onto their teacher.

'Hopefully someone else will decide that Chloé's been in power long enough." Marinette thought to herself as Ms. Bustier began that day's lesson.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Time Skip)

Classes continued to run, until finally lunch had arrived. Unfortunately for Marinette's hope for the others to rise to the occasion, she found herself watching Chloé as the heiress was cementing her continued reign. So when Chloé had finished threatening Kim, and went to a larger group to do the same to any other potential opposers, Marinette decided to find out just what Chloé had said this time.

"What did Chloé say to you this time? She offered to go on a date with you?" Marinette asked in exasperation. In hindsight, Kim was probably the last person she could rely on to run against Chloé, the boy was known to be spineless when it came to her.

"She threatened to tell everyone I'm afraid of spiders." Kim admitted reluctantly, even if he knew that Marinette wouldn't tell anyone. Having got her answer, Marinette then moved on to the large group that Chloé visited and asked around for their received threats.

"She said I'd get kicked out of the Scrapbooking Club." Rose dejectedly answered. "And you know how much I LOVE all that colorful paper and gluing!" the girl in pink excitedly exclaimed as she reminisced about her favorite club in the whole school. From there, Marientte continued to ask the other students in her class if they would run against Chloé.

"I don't want to run. I couldn't care less about being a candidate. But what's your excuse?" Alix asked as she sat on the stairwell, looking down at the inquiring Marinette. But having not expected someone to ask her why she wasn't running, Marinette was left speechless.

"Oh, I'm... really busy." Marinette hesitantly replied, immediately thinking about her numerous responsibilities as Ladybug.

"With oversleeping, you mean?" A voice behind Marinette playfully asked, causing the designer to turn and find that it was Alya who had spoken up, much to her inconvenience.

"Well, No! But, uh, well, I guess I would run if no one else did." Marinette scrambled to answer, before she admitted an answer that would appease the two girls present.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Morning break had finally ended, and class was back in session. But everyone was completely silent as Miss Bustier began to talk about the upcoming election.

"So, are there any new candidates who would like to run against Chloé and Sabrina?" Miss Bustier asked the class, to which caused Marinette to look around at the others. But when she saw that Kim and the fearful Rose were not speaking up due to Chloé's threats, she knew that she had no other choice even if her head and heart were at odds with each other about the important decision.

"Alright, given that Chloé and Sabrina are the only candidates, there's no point in voting. So, Chloé and Sabrina..." the teacher began, to which made Chloé and Sabrina sigh in satisfaction. But at Miss Bustier's words, Marinette panicked at the last minute and raised her hand high into the air.

"I'll run!" Marinette proclaimed, not believing she had just done something so impulsive, as everyone except Chloé and Sabrina looked at her excitedly.

"Wonderful! You'll need to develop your campaign and have a speech ready by tomorrow. We'll have the vote then!" Miss Bustier exclaimed in excitement for Marinette's spontaneous decision. But unknown to everyone, Chloé was seething at the thought of losing her power over the rest of the class and was looking forward to crushing her newly-made adversary.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the class period ended, the whole of the school was let out early due to the class rep elections. This provided the candidates for each class and year group the time needed to get their speeches and campaigns ready for the elections the next day. But Marinette's class had earned quite a bit of attention due to Chloé's possible take down. So as Marinette sat on a bench, with Alya perched on the top of the seat, she was still processing her sudden position.

"Let's hear the scoop on your campaign, girl! How are you gonna represent?" Alya excitedly asked, wanting to know everything Marinette had in mind to be a better class rep than Chloé.

"Represent? I actually have no idea. I still can't believe I raised my hand..." Marinette admitted after being pulled out of her processing by Alya's question.

"Way to go, Marinette!" an enthusiastic voice called out, making Marinette look for the source of it. Only to find it was Rose, with Juleka, Nino and Ivan coming over to them, who had said it "You spoke from the heart, it was truly authentic!" Rose cheered with a giggle as she and the other students that came over with her crowded around her and Alya.

"Oh, uh... Thanks." Marinette said in surprise at the sudden crowd, feeling very flustered at their praise.

"When you win, can we get more comfortable chairs? They're so hard, I can barely concentrate in class." the girl in pink excitedly requested, before she gasped in delight. "Maybe pink ones!" Rose exclaimed, placing her hand on her cheeks in her excitement.

"And it would be primo if we could listen to our beats while we study in the library." Nino remarked, adding in his own request for Marinette should she be elected. Though considering who she was going against, Marinette might not have much trouble with that part.

"Uh, you know... um, I don't-, you know." Juleka muttered out, not really giving any recall request for their new candidate, leaving Marinette slightly confused.

"Um... Sure, Juleka." Marinette replied with a nervous laugh, hoping that would be a good answer for the shy girl. But then Alya suddenly perked up at the familiar sight of a certain blonde as he walked down the stairs and into the quad.

"Adrien! Marinette can count on your vote, right?" Alya questioned, bringing Marinette's attention to her crush as he walked across the quad and to the front door of the school

"Sure, depending on how good her speech is." Adrien admitted as he left the building, while Marinette stared lovingly at the fleeing boy.

"Better get cracking on that campaign." Marinette happily concluded as she leaned on Alya's leg, letting the blogger affectionately nuzzle her head with her hand. But unknown to the group, Chloé was watching from afar.

"I've watched how my daddy wins every election, and I'm going to follow in his footsteps. I know just how to win!" Chloé proclaimed confidently, leaving Sabrina with the impression that Chloé was actually going to try and be a good class rep this year.

"By having the best campaign?" Sabrina asked, hoping that her assumption was correct.

"Ha! Whatever! The secret to winning in politics is ruining your opponent's reputation!" Chloé exclaimed as she leaned in towards Sabrina, dashing all hopes the bespeckled girl had of Chloé being a fair player. "Which means, I have a little job for you, Sabrina..." the heiress began, leaving Sabrina with a sinking feeling in her stomach. Something told her that she wouldn't like what Chloé had planned.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Chloé was talking to Sabrina, Marinette had raced home to begin work on her campaign. Though considering that school had let out earlier, Marinette was on her usual video call with Jim on her computer.

"You did what!? Mari, that's amazing!" Jim exclaimed after Marinette told him what she did.

"Do you really think so?" Marinette asked, feeling the swell of pride in her brother's encouragement.

"Heck yes! You have all the necessary skills and attributes needed to be a class rep. This job was made for you!" Jim proclaimed, causing Marinette to giggle and blush at his confidence in her.

"Thank you, Jim. I'm honestly shocked that I even volunteered, considering... you know." Marinette trailed off, knowing that Jim already knew the rest of that remark.

"Just because you're Ladybug, doesn't mean you can't do stuff you want to do." Jim remarked, even if he knew just how demanding being a hero was.

"Says the guy who accidentally auditioned for a play he doesn't know much about in order to cover his Trollhunter stuff" Marinette remarked with a smirk, causing Jim to fondly shake his head.

"Touche, sis. Touche." Jim replied, with a chuckle before calming down enough to continue their video chat. "So, what do you already have in mind to improve things? Did anyone make any requests already?" the Trollhunter asked, hoping that Marinette had some stuff already in the works.

"Oh, you bet they did. With me becoming a candidate, there have already been people asking for stuff." Marinette admitted as she brought out her diary from her 'Magic Box'.

"What did they ask for so far?" Jim asked.

"Let's see, softer chairs from Rose, music in the library from Nino, whatever Juleka said... I already wrote down everyone's issues before you called! Now I just have to get all this in my election speech." Marinette listed off from her diary before she admitted she still needed to write her speech.

"I'm proud of you, I'm sure you're gonna win! You'll make an awesome class rep!" Tikki encouraged, filtering around in the air as she did so.

"Thanks Tikki." Marinette said with a smile, much to Jim's curiosity.

"What did Tikki say?" Jim asked, wanting to know what the kwami had said

"She's saying that I'll be an awesome class rep!" Marinette replied, causing Jim to nod his head in response.

"Well, she's right. You will be incredible!" Jim agreed, leaving his sister's face to turn into a cherry at how much she was blushing.

"Thanks you guys, but there is a lot of pressure here. They're all relying on me to defeat Chloé. Even Adrien, do you realize that?" Marinette gushed, much to Jim's chagrin and slight exasperation.

"You do realize that not everything revolves around Adrien, right?" Jim questioned, hoping that Marinette's headspace was in order for her new candidacy.

"I know, but still." Marinette rebutted as she put her diary back into her 'Magic Box', which Jim immediately noticed.

"By the way, how did your 'Magic Box' project go? Did you finally finish it?" the Trollhunter asked, causing Marinette to smile and reach for her 'Magic Box' to show him.

"I did, and it works like a charm!" Marinette exclaimed as she showed off how well it worked, leaving Jim in awe.

"It's amazing! It looks even better than the plans you drew up." Jim congratulated as Marinette placed the box back onto her desk. And just as she did, her phone vibrated, making her pull it out of her pocket and see that it was Alya calling.

"Hey Alya, what's up? I'm kind of in the middle of a call with Jim." the designer asked.

"Marinette, battle's on!" Alya exclaimed from the phone, much to Marinette, Jim's and Tikki's confusion.

"Why? What's going on?" Marinette asked, hoping that Alya would elaborate a bit more.

"Chloé's invited the whole class to her campaign launch party at City Hall and she's got Jagged Stone coming, too!" Alya proclaimed from the phone, standing right in the middle of the action at City Hall, as the whole class was waiting to greet the rockstar.

"Seriously? , my favorite star?! I love him!" Marinette exclaimed as she jumped up from her seat, phone still in hand, and went to a poster of the rock star that was pinned in her room, during her gushing.

"And so does everyone else," Jim spoke up, breaking Marinette out of her fangirling so she could focus on the task at hand.

"Precisely, Jim! She's trying to buy student votes with autographs!" Alya exclaimed from the phone when Marinette turned to address her best friend.

"Not if I have anything to say about it! Meet you there!" Marinette proclaimed before she hung up Alya and turned to face her computer, while her brother was still online. "I've got to go, bro. The war is on!" the designer exclaimed, to which Jim only nodded in understanding.

"Go for it, sis! Kick Chloé's butt!" Jim encouraged as he punched his fist into the air above him, hoping that Marinette would finally teach her bully a lesson.

"Thanks, see you tonight!" Marinette farewelled, waving to Jim as she walked to her computer to turn it off.

"Bye, sis." Jim replied as he waved back, right before Marinette turned off her computer and left the house. But she unfortunately forgot to put her diary box back into her vanity drawer, leaving it open for a thief to try and take it. Which unbeknownst to Marinette, was exactly what was going to happen as an undercover Sabrina, was about to enter the bakery to look for something to embarrass Marinette, under Chloé's orders.

"I'm going in, Chloé." Sabrina hesitantly reported into her phone, before she hung up and entered the bakery.

"Hello!" Sabine greeted as Sabrina walked towards the front counter.

"Hi there! Uh...Marinette borrowed my math book for our Geometry homework, but I... um... need it back." Sabrina nervously explained to Sabine. If Marinette's mom did catch onto Sabrina's nervousness, she didn't seem to notice as she replied to Sabrina...

"Marinette's not here, she just left. I've got customers to attend to, but go on up and grab it from her room if you don't mind." Sabine said, unknowingly giving Sabrina persimmon to steal from her daughter.

"I'd be glad to... thanks!" Sabrina hesitantly replied before she walked to the back of the bakery and entered the Dupain-Cheng apartment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While Marinette raced to City Hall and Sabrina was about to commit theft, resident model Adrien was in Mr. D'Argencourt's fencing class, practicing with the instructor himself. But as the instructor and trainee were dueling, Nadja Chamack and a camera man were hiding as they watch the match progress, right as Mr. D'Argencourt defeats Adrien with a special attack, sending him to the ground and at the end of D'Argencourt's saber point.

"Wow, Mr. D'Argencourt, never seen you on fire like this!" Adrien praised from his spot of defeat as D'Argencourt took off his helmet. "That was some attack!" the blonde praised as he lifted his own helmet from his face, sitting up from the ground while D'Argencourt walked past him.

"It ought be." the fencing instructor said as he picked up Adrien's saber from the ground with his own, balancing it on his own saber's point. "This particular maneuver hither was developed by my ancestor the 'Chevalier Noir'." D'Argencourt regaled as he turned to face Adrien and flicked the boy's saber back to him, which he immediately caught as he paid attention to the instructor's words.

"The 'Chevalier Noir'?" Adrien asked, curious about the new fact his instructor had revealed.

"In the days of yore, Count Charles D'Argencourt, or more commonly known as the 'Chevalier Noir', conquered Paris and ruled over it with an iron fist. Until he was overthrown by a wealthy Frenchman who used his dirty gold to buy the loyalties of the common people." D'Argencourt explained, his tone of voice turning cold as he reached the part of his ancestor's reign being overthrown.

'If someone giving money to the poor while your ancestor ruled with an 'iron fist' caused a revolution... maybe you should consider the idea that your ancestor was a bad guy." Adrien thought to himself as he listened to his instructor's story, knowing that if he actually said his current thoughts aloud, it wouldn't end well for him. It was well known that D'Argencourt was an avid monarchist, and like quite a few others he longed to restore the old ways of France. Most likely the reason why he ran for mayor to begin with.

"To think that not so long ago, my ancestor's flag was waving above Paris..." D'Argencourt sighed as he remembered his family's 'glorious reign'... before being pulled back into reality by Nadja finally making herself known.

"Is that what you ran in the election, Mr. D'Argencourt? To seek revenge on your ancestor's behalf?" Nadja asked, her habits as a reporter coming alive after hearing Mr D'Argencourt's family history.

"Par le fer! Who dost we have hither?" D'Argencourt exclaimed at the sight of Nadja's appearance, as the camera man focused the camera onto him.

"Nadja Chamack. Don't be bemused, it's just the news! Do you have anything to say about your quote un-quote landslide defeat?" Nadja announced as she popped into the camera's view, before continuing her questioning.

"Hey, you! Excuse me! How did you get into the school?" A voice to the side interrogated, causing Nadja and her cameraman to look and see that it was the janitor that had spoken as he threateningly came towards them.

"I think it's time to get back to the studio!" Nadja exclaimed before she grabbed the cameraman's collar and ran away.

"Get back here!" the janitor called out before he ran after them, leaving Adrien and D'Argencourt to continue their business in peace.

"Here endeth the lesson." D'Argencourt sourly hissed before he turned and left, leaving Adrien alone to worry about his instructor's current mood.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the other side of the city, Hawkmoth's lair window opens up, disturbing the resting butterflies enough to start fluttering around the observatory esque space.

"A loser and an utter failure in an election. But the perfect candidate to lobby my own campaign." The man who reminds this author of Mr. Burns purred before he transformed one of the white butterflies into an Akuma and allowed it to flutter free.

"Fly away, my evil little akuma, and take control of this defeated fighter!" Hawkmoth exclaimed as the akuma flew out of the lair, and towards the school to akumatize the angry fencing instructor.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at the school, Adrien was in the school's locker room as he changed back into his normal attire while Plagg was floating above his workout bag.

"Your fencing instructor sure seems oblivious to how horrible his ancestor really was. Charles D'Argencourt was one of the worst lords of Paris, ever!" Plagg exclaimed before he chomped down on a piece of camembert. But at Plagg's words, Adrien paused changing his clothes and glanced over at his kwami.

"What do you mean, Plagg? Sure, Mr. D'Argencourt's ancestor seems like someone who would really get along with Hawkmoth, but how bad could he have been?" Adrien asked, his normal 'see the good in everyone besides Hawkmoth' attitude kicking in.

"Try 'Taxing the poor and religious minorities to the brink of starvation as well as a great part of the wealthy, and then executing or banishing them when they asked for less excessive taxes or simply if they had something he coveted' as a start to his numerous atrocities." Plagg answered almost nonchalantly, leaving Adrien speechless.

'Mr. D'Argencourt's ancestor really did that?' the blonde model questioned in his thoughts, even if he knew that many lords at that point in time were like Charles D'Argencourt. But considering how much pride his instructor had in his ancestor, it made Adrien uneasy.

"Really?" Adrien asked, his eyes widening while Plagg nodded as he went into the duffle bag to try and find another piece of cheese.

"Yep. It was not a great time in Paris history. So when the wealthy Frenchman overthrew Charles, the people were ecstatic. And can you honestly blame them?" Plagg queried from inside the duffle bag before flying out as Adrien finished changing.

"No, I can't. But how can Mr. D'Argencourt be so proud of that?" Adrien wondered as he grabbed his bag and began to walk towards the locker room doors.

"Whether you like it or not kid, some people want the return of the aristocratic and royalist ways of old, and sometimes they forget the nasty beneath the shiny." Plagg said before he dived into the duffle bag before anyone could see him, allowing Adrien to walk out of the room with no trouble. But Plagg's words continued to echo in his mind, making the boy hope that D'Argencourt wouldn't end up like his ancestor, should the event come that he did get voted into the mayoral position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outside the school, Mr. D'Argencourt was leaving the building. But when he reached the bottom of the stairs, Nadja Chamack used the opportunity that presented itself to try and interview him again.

"Mr. D'Argencourt, it has been said, and I quote, that 'You're stuck in the dark ages'. What do you have to say to that?" Nadja interrogated, hoping to get a reaction from the fencer.

"Poisonous wretch! Darest thou approach with such venomous questions?" D'Argencourt seethed before he turned away from Nadja to avoid her questions. "Be gone now, pestilent pain in the neck!" the fencing instructor yelled before he bumped into a poster with Mr. Bourgeois in it. At the sight of it, D'Argencourt's anger spiked and he sliced it to pieces. Once he took his anger out on the poster, the newly made akuma arrived and corrupted his saber.

"Chevalier Noir... In return for the powers I'm giving you, you'll capture Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous for me." Hawkmoth offered through the newly created physic link, immediately catching D'Argencourt's attention.

"When the flag bearing the emblem of mine ancestors lies once again upon the roof of City Hall, then to thee I shall indeed be indebted!" D'Argencourt proclaimed as he raised his sword into the air, before he turned into . Nadja and her camera man could only watch as they witnessed the man turn into an akumatized villain, before Nadja lifted the camera up to show the newly transformed akuma.

"Anything y-you'd like to say about your t-transformation into a-'' Nadja began to nervously ask.

"Chevalier Noir! The lord of Paris!" Chevalier Noir announced, interrupting Nadja's question before he lifted his sword up and used it to hypnotize and turn Nadja and the cameraman into knights. "Thou shalt become my knights! Soon mine army shalt be immense and unstoppable!" the armored akuma proclaimed before cutting the billboard next to him in half with his sword, and walked away from the ruble to stare out at the city.

"We shall take City Hall by storm and reclaim the throne from Bourgeois the usurper!" Chevalier Noir concluded, not noticing that Adrien and Plagg, who was hovering idly over Adrien's shoulder, were watching him as he made his proclamation.

"Whoa, that's some medieval madness!" Plagg remarked before Adrien ran back into the school and found a place to hide.

"Time to transform! Plagg, claws out!" Adrien shouted out before he transformed into Chat Noir. Just outside the school, Chevalier Noir had approached the Gorilla, who stood ready to fight the akuma if needed.

"Zounds! What a great beast to join our conquest!" Chevalier Noir remarked before he lifted his sword up to hypnotize the heavily muscled man and turned him into a knight. From there, the newly transformed knights began to chant 'Par le fer!' as Chevalier Noir continued to hypnotize more civilians and turn them into more knights to expand his army.

"Let us to battle, knights! Par le fer!" Chevalier Noir proclaimed, unaware of Chat Noir watching from above. That is until he landed right in the middle of the street after it was deserted by fleeing civilians.

"The people had their say and they chose Bourgeois over you, D'Argencourt!" Chat Noir exclaimed, pointing his baton towards Chevalier Noir in an attempt to challenge him.

"Thy peoples matter not to me. D'Argencourt was defeated, not the Chevalier Noir! En garde!" Chevalier Noir proclaimed before he and Chat Noir began a heated fencing duel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile at the Dupain-Cheng residence, Sabrina had just entered Marinette's bedroom. But the bespeckled girl was feeling very conflicted about her current actions.

"Chloé, I'm not so sure about this. Marinette doesn't really deserve having someone break into her room." Sabrina admitted as she held her phone in her hand, with Chloé on the other end.

"I don't care, Sabrina. I need dirt on Dupain-Cheng if I'm ever going to win this election. Let's face it, even with the signed CD's and concert tickets, nobody will vote for me as long as Marinette is running against me." Chloé exclaimed, not only being realistic, but also open about her actual anxiety of losing some of her power at school. She knew that she had no chance of being elected back in now that Marinette was running, considering all the threats and bullying she had done to her classmates. So now she had to turn to more... underhanded methods to win.

"Now look for something embarrassing that I can use to ruin her!" the heiress demanded, causing Sabrina to frantically begin searching the room for something to appease Chloé's desire. She did take the time to gush about a hat on Marinette's manikin, but soon went over to the girls desk to find something better.

"Um, how about a ball of yarn? Or a screwdriver?" Sabrina suggested, even if she knew that it wouldn't be enough.

"That won't do, Sabrina! Try finding a disgusting photo of her, or even a tacky piece of clothing! Actually put some effort into it and dig around a little bit!" Chloé demanded as Sabrina glanced over some pictures of Adrien that were pinned on the wall. But her gaze soon settled onto a framed picture with Marinette, Jim and Toby flanking her sides as they smiled into the camera.

"What about this picture? I don't recognise these guys in the photo." Sabrina asked as she moved her phone camera to show Chloé the picture.

"Probably some out of town friends of hers, so it won't help at all. Keep looking!" Chloé commanded, not knowing that that single picture held a pretty big amount of dirt on Marinette. But considering they didn't know, Sabrina continued to look around, until her eyes landed on the open 'Magic Box'.

"Well... what about her diary?" Sabrina suggested reluctantly, as she walked up to Marinette's desk.

"Now that's more like it! Grab it and come back to City Hall, ASAP!" Chloé exclaimed before Sabrina reached to grab the diary from the box. But like how Marinette designed the container, the 'Magic Box' closed down on her hand, making her yelp and try to get it off as she dropped her phone.

"Sabrina? Sabrina, what's going on?!" the heiress loudly questioned, a little bit of concern for her best friend dripping into her voice.

Over at City Hall, Marinette finally arrived and saw the campaign launch party was starting, while the whole of Marinette's class was waiting in line for signed CD's for Jagged Stone's new album.

"I'm pleased to welcome you all to the official launch of Chloé's electoral campaign." Mayor Bourgeois announced as he placed a hand on his confident daughter's shoulder. "And a special thank-you to world-famous pop-star Jagged Stone for endorsing her," the mayor thanked as Chloé went to stand next to the table Jagged was sitting at and requested a high five. Having no other choice, Jagged gave into her request, leaving all the other students in amazement.

"And, when you vote for me, you'll get free tickets to Jagged's next concert!" Chloé proclaimed as the students walked up and got their autographed CD's. And just as Alya got her own and left the line, she bumped into a skeptical Marinette.

"Huh! You got an autograph?" Mairnette snidely questioned before Alya pulled her away from the crowd and ended up standing at the base of one of the numerous staircases to the second floor.

"Yeah, I did, but got you one, too." Alya revealed as she pulled out the second CD behind the one she grabbed from the table. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself." the reporter apologized as Marinette looked at the CD in excitement. But when she went to reach for it, her moral compass took control.

"Nope, I'm not falling for it." Marinette exclaimed, resisting the temptation that the CD presented. "But, I'll consider forgiving you if you vote for me." the designer promised as she gave Alya a side hug, making her chuckle while nodding in agreement.

'Well, that's one vote down, time to get the rest." Marinette thought to herself as she glanced back at her mesmerized classmates.

Unbeknownst to the occupants of City Hall, over at the Locks Bridge Chat Noir and the Chevalier Noir were still fighting their duel, while the akuma's army stood at the ready behind them. The two seemed to be evenly matched, up until the Chevalier Noir performed the same feint-and-strike he did to Adrien before, sending Chat Noir's staff flying and disarming him.

"Seriously? How did I not see that coming?" Chat Noir groaned to himself, pinned against the rail of the bridge as the Chevalier Noir and his army surrounded him.

"Take him!" Chevalier Noir commanded, to which his knights go after Chat Noir. But before they could catch him, Chat Noir jumped onto the top of the railing and threw himself off of the bridge. When the knights looked over the edge to find the black cat, they couldn't find him, not that it mattered to the Chevalier Noir.

"Nary a minute to be wasted! City Hall awaits us!" Chevalier Noir proclaimed before he led his army away, not realizing that Chat Noir was hiding underneath the bridge and heard everything.

"City Hall, huh? You go first. I'll catch up with you." Chat Noir mumbled before he made his way back onto the topside of the bridge, retrieved his staff and leaped onto the rooftops to follow the invading army.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at City Hall, Jagged Stone was still signing autographs while Sabrina, who was hiding her trapped hand behind her back, finally arrived. When she spotted Chloé, she immediately ran to where the heiress was standing to the side of the crowd.

"What took you so long? Did you get her diary?" Chloé questioned, considering Sabrina had taken a while to get back to the City Hall.

"I did! Sorta..." Sabrina trailed off before she showed Chloé her hand in the locked diary box. At the sight of Sabrina's hand, Chloé gasped and turned the two of them away from their classmate's line of sight.

"What is that?" Chloé interrogated, hoping that Sabrina was either joking, or had a good explanation to why her hand was encased by the box.

"When I grabbed the diary, this crazy box clapped down around my hand!" Sabrina explained as she tried for probably the hundredth time to pry the box open to free herself.

"Why would Dupain-Cheng even make something like this? Overkill, much?" Chloé wondered out loud before she spied Marinette walking over to the other classmates.

"You do realize that you're all being bribed, right? Concert tickets are awesome, but they aren't gonna solve classroom problems." Marinette remarked, hoping that her class wasn't so easily bought by Chloé's tactics.

"So what's your campaign then, Marinette?" Nathaniel asked, considering if they were all going to vote for Marinette they would still need to hear what she had planned.

"Well to start, I'm thinking that cushions would be more realistic than buying new chairs." Marinette began as she walked down the line of surrounding students, until she reached Rose. "Your cushion could be very pink." the designer whispered to Rose, leaving the girl happy and excited.

"And I'll see about listening to music in the library. Through headphones, of course." Marinette continued as she glanced at Nino while making that certain point. But she was interrupted by Chloé deciding to make herself a bother once more.

"Remarkable. You actually sound like a class rep." Chloé sarcastically remarked, feeling confident in herself again now that she had Marinette's diary in her possession. "Too bad you don't have a chance of winning." the heiress snarked, hoping to get into Marinette's head through psychological warfare, before leaning into the designer's personal space.

"Though I would like to have a word with you in private, if you don't mind?" Chloé uttered into Marinette's ear, not giving her any other option than to follow her for said private conversation. But when Chloé shoved her behind one of the stone columns near one of the staircases, she now knew why Chloé wanted to talk to her.

"Oh! My diary!" Marientte exclaimed when she saw her 'Magic Box' clamped down onto Sabrina's hand. "What were you doing-?" the designer began to question before Chloé interrupted her.

"If you don't pull out of the race, all your secrets will be revealed." Chloé threatened as she patted the box, cementing her threat.

"Don't-uh, I mean, uh, what secrets?" Marientte stammered out, trying not to tip her hand in this figurative standoff. Lord knows that Marinette knew that Chloé was serious with her threat, so she had to play it cool or else all of her secrets, Jim's included, would be let out.

"Ha! I guess we'll find out... as soon as I get a locksmith to remove this box from Sabrina's hand!" Chloé exclaimed, much to Sabrina's relief that she didn't suggest using a chainsaw instead. But their little exchange was interrupted by the sound of trumpets playing a fanfare outside of the building, scaring Sabrina and Chloé so much that they hugged each other in comfort. The whole group of occupants inside City Hall were shocked to hear the noise coming from outside, leading the Mayor to open the doors to peek outside, along with Marientte and some of the more braver students, to see the Chevalier Noir's army right outside.

"O-ye, o-ye! The Chevalier Noir shall speak now! Listen or be imprisoned!" a page knight announced before Chevalier Noir stepped forward and ahead of the army.

"Henceforth, my flag shalt fly over thy kingdom!" Chevalier Noir proclaimed before he lifted his sword up and pointed it at Mayor Bourgeois. "Bourgeois, pathetic knave, come hither and do battle!" the armored akuma demanded, challenging the middle aged man to a certain fight to the death.

"What did he say?" Mayor Bourgeois asked, not quite understanding Chevalier Noir's challenge due to his old way of speaking.

"Basically, he's gonna bust you up." Alya answered, her countless hours of research for past history papers finally coming in handy. But her answer didn't exactly calm Mayor Bourgeois at all.

"Ehh... Ask my secretary for an appointment!" Mayor Bourgeois called out before he and the students shut the doors, amusing Chevalier Noir at their attempts to hide.

"Ha ha ha ha ha! Bow down to The Chevalier Noir, or feel the wrath of mine sword!" Chevalier Noir proclaimed, causing the knights to begin advancing on City Hall while shouting 'Par le fer!'. But before they could reach the main door they were interrupted by Chat Noir, who had been jumping from rooftop to rooftop before landing back on the ground, when he threw his staff at the knights to knock them back.

"Take him!" Chevalier Noir demanded as he pointed his sword at the hero in black. At the command of their leader, the knights began to advance on Chat Noir.

"Guys, do you only know heavy metal?" Chat Noir quipped as he retaliated against the knights advancing on him. As the knights and Chat Noir start fighting, Marinette took the chance to peek from one of the windows to watch the fight, just when Chat Noir sweep-kicked a knight to the ground, and got dogpiled in response.

"Ouch! Chat Noir... Hurry!" Marinette pleaded when she saw how outnumbered her partner was. Thankfully for Chat Noir, he managed to break out from under the pile of knights with his staff.

"That was a nice warm-up!" Chat Noir remarked after he cleared the knights away from him, before the Chevalier Noir began to advance on him.

"Par le fer!" Chevalier Noir exclaimed as he leaped into the air and started fighting Chat Noir in yet another evenly matched duel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back inside of City Hall, Jagged Stone could hear the commotion outside and his interests immediately peaked.

"Wait, do I hear the sounds of crazed fans? I can totally get them under control." Jagged Stone exclaimed, ignorant of the true danger outside as he took his guitar, and stepped outside to play it while singing off-key. Thankfully, he soon saw that the Chevalier Noir and Chat Noir fighting and stopped playing as he watched the two of them battle before Chat Noir started to be chased by the knights.

"Behold, a minstrel!" Chevalier Noir exclaimed when he finally noticed Jagged Stone.

"Guys, guys, I know you love me, but no reason to fight over it." Jagged Stone assured, not knowing how wrong he was, or how much danger he was in.

"Are you the usurper's champion?" Chevalier Noir questioned as he pointed his sword at the guitarist.

"Say what?" Jagged Stone questioned in confusion, before the Chevalier Noir zapped him and turned him into a knight, much to the observing student's shock.

"Oh no!" Chloé exclaimed as they witnessed Jagged Stone's transformation.

"What are we gonna do?" Ivan questioned as the transformed Jagged Stone rose from his kneeling position and stood at attention.

"The doors, quickly!" Marinette exclaimed, knowing that they needed to barricade themselves before Chevalier Noir got any closer to them.

" 'The doors, quickly!' " Chloé repeated, trying to take control of the situation, much to Marinette's annoyance.

"Quit, Chloé!" Marinette said, knowing that Chloé would parrot her again.

" 'Quit, Chloé!' " Chloé parroted, just like Marinette had hoped, before realizing that she got duped, causing Marinette to smile at Chloé's folly. But her happiness was short-lived when the Chevalier Noir began to approach the doors.

"Kneel before thy flag of the Chevalier Noir! Bow down before mine eyes!" Chevalier Noir demanded as he climbed the front steps, before the students locked the doors to keep him out. Once the doors were locked Chloé ran to hide behind the reception desk, hoping to hide from the akuma. But her hopes to do so were dashed when Rose ran to the heiress's hiding spot.

"Chloé, what should we do? What would a class rep do?!" Rose questioned, hoping that Chloé would help them out of the mess they were in.

"Well, if indeed you vote for me, I'll provide you with an answer. Tomorrow!" Chloé answered, poking her head out of her hiding place.

"But we can't wait until tomorrow!" Rose exclaimed in protest.

"Then you're out of luck. You'll have to ask someone else!" Chloé replied before she ducked back down into her hiding place.

"Hmmm..." Marinette mused as she thought to herself, before she broke away from the group and ran up the stairs as she let Tikki out of her purse. "Tikki, we need to talk." the designer told the kwami as they made their way to the Mayor's office to talk in private and without anyone overhearing.

"What are you going to do?" Tikki questioned Marinette as she paced the length of the office, trying to think of a way to help Chat Noir and the students at the same time.

"Chat Noir needs Ladybug, but the students need me, too!" Marinette exclaimed, not quite seeing a way to be able to do both.

"Trust your instincts." Tikki encouraged, knowing that Marinette could do it if she put her mind to it. At her kwami's words, Marinette came up with a plan.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, outside, the knights are trying to open the door, leaving the students scared and cowering. But it was at that moment that Marinette arrived to help.

"Kim, Ivan, lock the doors! Make sure all the windows are closed too, quickly!" Marinette instructed, making Kim and Ivan follow her instructions and go to lock the doors. "Nino, Juleka, Rose, Mylène and Alya, you come with me!" the designer continued, leaving the others glad that someone was helping them protect themselves.

"Good job, girl!" Alya exclaimed, proud of her BFF taking charge, before walking over to the reception desk that Chloé was hiding behind. "Now there's a future class representative in the making." the blogger taunted Chloé before walking away to help Marinette with her plan.

"Well, I was going to say the exact same thing. Sabrina, Ivan, Kim, go lock the doors!" Chloé admitted in her defense after she poked her head out of her hiding place, and then commanded Sabrina to help the boys. As the class continued to make sure none of the knights would get in, the army outside still continued to try to open the door, via using one of their own as a battering ram.

"We have to barricade the entrance!" Marinette instructed as the students used objects from the room to make a barricade. Once it was completed, they stood away from it as the knights continued to try and break in, banging the door as they did so, which continued to weaken the hastily made barricade.

"I hope they haven't gone too medieval on Chat Noir!" Nino admitted, worried that the knights were too much for the hero in black to deal with.

"It's time to retreat! Sir, we gotta get out of here!" Marinette exclaimed as she stood in front of the group in an effort to protect them, before turning to face the mayor. At her words, the mayor nodded in agreement.

"This way!" Mr. Bourgeois instructed, before he led the students to safety.

"I'll catch up with you guys! I'll make sure all the windows are closed first!" Marinette called out as the class retreated upstairs. Once she was sure they were gone, Marinette opened up her purse to allow Tikki to fly out and hover next to her. "They should be safe now," the designer concluded before she called out...

"Tikki, spots on!" Marinette exclaimed, triggering her transformation into Ladybug. When she was finished turning into her alter ego, she went off to finally help Chat Noir fight the army right outside.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While Marinette transformed into Ladybug, Chat Noir was still holding the knight army back by himself. But soon enough, Chat Noir found himself being surrounded by knights and pinned against the building.

"Back off, you tin cans!" Chat Noir exclaimed as the knights closed their towards him.

"Chat Noir, over here!" Ladybug called from City Hall's second floor before she used her yo-yo to pull him into the air and drag him inside before the knights could attack him. But when he was safely inside, he barrel-rolled along the floor, hit the wall and landed upside down with his legs folded as Ladybug retracted her yo-yo.

"Sorry, Chat Noir. I was busy doing damage control inside." the spotted heroine bashfully apologized as she scratched the back of her neck.

"I was managing just fine by myself, you know. But it's always nice to see you." Chat Noir greeted from his unusual perch against the wall.

"Column formation!" Chevalier Noir shouted from outside, causing the knights to begin advancing on City Hall and soon formed human ladders to climb toward the roof. But their efforts were halted by Ladybug and Chat Noir swinging/pushing them off of the building's walls, sending them to the ground in a heap of metal.

"Strike!" Chat Noir cheered as he lifted Ladybug back inside the building, via an open window.

"Cursèd, colorful acrobats!" Chevalier Noir seethed before he turned to walk towards two cars, and turned them into large catapults.

"Pull!" a knight shouted, from which the knights used the new reinforcements to launch themselves towards the roof of City Hall, flying through the air.

"Why are they going on the roof?" Chat Noir questioned before a knight ungracefully slams none-to-gently into the wall beside their window with an 'oof!'. "Well, at least some of them." the hero in black remarked as the knight fell to the ground.

"The flag!" Ladybug exclaimed, realizing why they were targeting the roof in the first place. But just when she realized what Chevalier Noir was up to, he was already loaded into one of the catapults.

"Tally ho!" Chevalier Noir exclaimed before the knights launched him to the roof with the catapult, sending the akuma into a chuckling fit as he landed right onto the flag's perch. "Once these stripes are supplanted by mine coat of arms, I shalt reign supreme!" the armored akuma proclaimed as he cut down the French flag. The flag then clattered onto the roof, next to a group of knights who held a new flag with Chevalier Noir's crest on it, before Ladybug and Chat Noir made it to the roof themselves.

"The akuma must be in his sword!" Ladybug noticed when they landed on the roof and watched as the knights began to climb up to the Chevalier Noir.

"How are we gonna get a hold of it?" Chat Noir questioned, hoping that Ladybug had a plan up her sleeve like usual.

"By getting close to him!" Ladybug shouted before she threw her yo-yo at the Chevalier Noir's arm, and anchored herself onto the akuma before she scaled the same tower point where the akuma was on top of. But when she got high enough and retracted her yo-yo to attack him, the Chevalier Noir blocked Ladybug with his sword, sending her right into an awaiting group of knights.

"Chat Noir, don't let him get his banner!" the red superheroine called to her partner as she recovered from her rough landing. Back over with Chat Noir, he tried to stop the knights from getting the flag to the Chevalier Noir by knocking down the human ladder of knights going up the tower, but was too late.

"Villains! Thou impress me not." Chevalier Noir exclaimed when he had his banner in hand, ready to plant it where the French flag once was, while Chat Noir got piled on by a few knights. "By the blade of darkness, I hereby declare all peoples of this kingdom are henceforth mine!" the armored akuma proclaimed before he put his flag on top of the tower, causing a beam of black energy to shoot into the sky, turning it black.

"Bow to King Chevalier Noir!" Chevalier Noir decreed before a black void of energy appeared from the newly blackened sky and began to close in on City Hall, causing the remaining civilians to become knights. At the sight of his plan coming together, Chevalier Noir began laughing as the black void came closer to the City Hall.

"Soon thou shalt join my army, you venomous insect!" the armored akuma sneered at Ladybug after he jumped to the base of the tower point, pointing his sword at the red heroine. But at the akuma's words, Chat Noir managed to knock down the knights who were holding him, and leaped in front of the Chevalier Noir.

"Not so fast! En garde!" Chat Noir challenged, leading the two to become drawn into yet another heated duel, while more knights began to surround Ladybug.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over in Hawkmoth's lair, where he was protected from the black void, the supervillian was reveling in the close victory at hand.

"It won't be long now for Ladybug and Chat Noir to meet their doom! I can practically see my victory!" Hawkmoth said before he cackled at the heroes misfortune, confident in himself as always.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at City Hall, Chat Noir and the Chevalier Noir were still in the middle of their duel, when the black cat saw the civilians becoming knights as the black void came closer.

"We're about to wind up as knights too!" Chat Noir remarked as she held the Chevalier Noir's sword back from striking him with his staff, while Ladybug saw the void coming closer. Unbeknownst to them, the black energy could pass through the building's walls, allowing it to reach the students inside and turn them into knights, followed by a cry of 'Par le fer!' after said transformation. When the void continued to close in and more knights surrounded Ladybug, she finally called on her...

"Lucky Charm!" Ladybug shouted before her power gave her a wind up toy ladybug. "Uh, okay..." the spotted heroine remarked in confusion when the object landed in her hand, before she looked around with her Luck Vison. From there, a part of the City Hall's roof below her current area, some edging of the building, and the Chevalier Noir's underarm lit up in her line of sight, leading her to come up with a plan.

"Let's hope Chevalier Noir's ticklish." Ladybug hopped out loud as she looked back at her partner and the akuma as they continued their duel. Over at said duel, Chat Noir had managed to push away from the Chevalier Noir to catch his breath, before he saw the Chevalier Noir pull the same feint he had done before.

"Not this time." Chat Noir slyly remarked to himself, before charging in to attack the Chevalier Noir and managing to avoid being disarmed by the akuma's devastating maneuver. While they continued fighting, Ladybug wound up the toy as the knights closed in on her. But before they could trap her, she jumped to the part of roof she spied earlier and landed on it before she threw her yo-yo at the ledge and swung up to where the Chevalier Noir was.

When she was high enough, Ladybug threw the toy ladybug at his underarm, where as soon as it landed, the Chevalier Noir started feeling ticklish and laughing at the buzzing feeling, and ended up throwing his sword in his laughter. Chat Noir then caught the sword and threw it to Ladybug, who caught it after landing onto the base of the tower point and broke it, depleting the black sky and the dark energy altogether before the akuma flew out of the broken sword.

"No more evildoing for you, little akuma!" Ladybug exclaimed as she opened her yo-yo to reveal the sparkling pool of cleansing energy inside. "Time to de-evilize!" she shouted before she threw her yo-yo toward the akuma, catching it in her yo-yo. A second later, she released the purified akuma, setting the white butterfly free.

"Bye, bye little butterfly." Ladybug said as the butterfly flew away, before throwing the wind up toy charm into the air. "Miraculous Ladybug!" the spotted heroine cried out. No sooner than she did, the miraculous cure swept through the city, returning things back to normal. The damage inflicted by the Chevalier Noir and his army was repaired and transformed back to normal while the Chevalier Noir turned back into Mr. D'Argencourt.

"Hmm? Huh?" D'Argencourt exclaimed when he saw where he was, and didn't remember how he got there.

"Pound it!" The two heroes cheered as they fist-bumped, feeling proud of themselves for taking care of another supervillain. But when they finished their after battle ritual, Chat Noir looked at his ring and saw that he didn't have much time left.

"Uh, Gotta take off, see ya!" Chat Noir farewelled before he leaped off the roof, leaving a smiling Ladybug and confused D'Argencourt behind.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile in Hawkmoth's lair, the butterfly man himself seethed at his once again denied victory against Ladybug and Chat Noir.

"Our duel is not over yet, my dear heroes. At the end of our battle, I will rule!" the silver pinhead proclaimed before the window of his lair closed up, and encased the room in darkness once more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over at City Hall, Ladybug entered through a window, and turned back into Marinette after landing onto the tile floor.

"Great job, Marinette. You proved that you can be Ladybug and a student leader at the same time." Tikki congratulated after Marinette turned back into herself.

"It wasn't easy, but I'm glad I tried. If I hadn't, I'd never have known I could do it." Marinette remarked to Tikki before the kwami flew back into her purse, allowing the designer to run back to her friends. When she arrived back at the main entry of the building, she saw her classmates removing the posters and chairs from the door to clear the way. But her hopes to quietly join back with the others were dashed when Chloé saw her at the top of one of the stairways.

"So where were you? Safely hiding under a rock?" Chloé snidely questioned after Sabrina dusted her clothes off while Marinette walked down the stairs towards the ground floor, before stopping to address Chloé.

"Very funny, Chloé. I got transformed... into a knight." Marinette fibbed, glad for the built-in excuse that the Chevalier Noir had given her.

"So did I!" A voice behind Marinette exclaimed, causing the girls to turn and see Adrien as he sprinted down the stairs. "What a knightmare!" The blonde remarked, stopping his sprint when he reached the ground, before running off after his pun. But after he left, Marientte used that opportunity to settle her lingering business with Chloé.

"Now that this is all over, I want my personal items back!" Marinette demanded, causing the other students to gasp and surround Chloé, making her very nervous.

"I really have no idea what you're talking about!" Chloé denied, backing away from Marinette before Sabrina shoved Chloé aside and held out her trapped hand towards Marinette.

"Oh, yes! Please take it off!" Sabrina begged, to which Marientte pulled her up to the step she was standing on, and used the key to open the 'Magic Box', freeing Sabrina's hand. "Thank you!" The bespeckled girl cried in happiness before skipping away with her freed hand to join the crowd, leaving Chloé speechless and alone with the surrounding students.

"Got an explanation, Chloé?" Alya interrogated as she held her phone up to film her answer.

"I told you, I never took her diary! And I'm offended that you're accusing me." Chloé exclaimed, trying to defend herself, however unsuccessfully.

"Then how did you even know my diary was in here?" Marinette remarked as she pulled out her diary from the 'Magic Box, causing the other students to gasp in shock at Chloé's actions.

"Oh, well, uh... Sabrina told me. It was all her idea!" Chloé lied, trying to get the heat off of her to save any hope to be elected back into the class rep position.

'So uncool!" Nino exclaimed as the rest of the crowd were left in shock at Chloé's actions.

"At least now we know nobody will be voting for Chloé." Alya remarked as she walked up the stairs to stand a few steps below Marinette while the designer put her 'Magic Box' into her purse. "You're gonna be our new representative!" the reporter exclaimed, much to Marinette's surprise. But in true Marinette fashion... that wasn't how she wanted to win.

"Uh... Not so fast, Alya." Marinette began to say as she walked down the remaining step, only for Chloé to use that to her advantage.

"Ha ha ha! See? She's undependable! She's already throwing in the towel!" Chloé exclaimed, happy to use Marinette's 'hesitation' to help herself.

"No, I'm not!" Marinette shouted, clearing up the misunderstanding. "I just wanna be voted in fairly, not because you don't wanna vote for Chloé, but because you believe in me!" the designer explained, getting into a groove for her incoming and spontaneous speech.

"I'm not gonna make promises that I can't keep, and I'm not gonna be able to get you everything that you want. But I am resourceful and I know how to prioritize. I'm a good listener and a great multi-tasker. Representing you all is something I truly believe in." the designer promised, gaining the whole class's attention as she continued on. "And most importantly, I believe in myself. So... Vote for Marinette, for class representative!" Marinette exclaimed as the class surrounded her in encouragement. After she finished her speech, the other students cheered and applauded her. Even Sabrina did so, which infuriated Chloé to no end.

"What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?! Ugh, what are you even good for?!" Chloé shouted before walking away in a huff, with Sabrina following behind. Right then and there Chloé knew... she had no chance left.
