Chapter 30: Wherefore Art Thou, Trollhunter Part 3

It didn't take long for Jim to get back home after leaving Heartstone Trollmarket, but unfortunately for him, the same rang true for the amulet. The relic laid on the base of the lamp on the boy's desk as Jim entered his room with a defeated face... at least until his bluebell eyes had landed on the item he had tried so hard to get rid of. The amulet glowed like a heartbeat as Jim balled his fists with a groan, before he tossed it into the trash. As soon as he did, he laid down on his bed, and just turned on his right side, slipping an arm beneath his head, only to come face to face with the glowing amulet as it laid beside him.

"Oh, shut up." Jim said to the relic, eyebrows falling in anger, before he tossed the amulet into the trash again, piling books and other pieces of garbage he found around his room on top of the bin. After stacking the pile, Jim sat beside the can with an exhale, yet when his eyes opened, they grew as he found the amulet once in front of him. Jim slapped his forehead in exasperation, and fell backward into the trash can, books falling on his defeated position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jim then decided to head down to the living room, hoping to get his mind off of the seemingly possessed amulet by watching a movie in the living room. But as he sat on his couch, popcorn rapidly falling into his mouth as the screen lit up the room while the movie played, he failed to notice he had grabbed the amulet... until he bit down onto it, causing a groan to leave his lips.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the hour grew late, Jim went up to the bathroom to get ready for bed. The boy quickly scrubbed his teeth clean, before spitting and pulling open the mirror cabinet to put his toothbrush away. But he was once more greeted by the haunting presence of the amulet as it sat on the top shelf of the cabinet, causing him to scream and slam the door shut, his face fixed with a disturbed look.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having enough of the amulet's weirdness, Jim decided to get rid of the relic in a more... direct way. The boy's train of thought led to him standing outside with a bat in one hand and the amulet in the other as he tossed it into the air a few times. After getting his hand warmed up, Jim let the amulet land in his palm, ready to smack it away.

"Buona notte (Good night)." the Trollhunter taunted the amulet, before with one more toss, the amulet went up into the air and smacked against the bat, sending the magical device flying away from Jim.

"Home run." Jim chuckled to himself as he headed to the back door. All of a sudden, the amulet flew right back at him, bouncing off Jim's head. When he turned around to find out what had hit him, he looked at the area of ground where his bat kept hidden, and moved it out of the way to find the amulet laying at his feet.

"Really?" Jim exclaimed, not believing that the amulet was so intent on staying with him.

A few hours had passed since Jim's failed attempt to get rid of the amulet, and the boy was sitting in his desk chair, ready for his nightly call with Marinette. While he waited, he glanced at the amulet as it sat on the desk, feeling disdain towards the relic as it pulsed blue light.

"Why won't you leave me alone?!" Jim asked the amulet tiredly before his computer lit up, showing him that Marinette was calling him. Wanting to have his attention pulled away from the amulet haunting him, he answered his sister's call, allowing her to appear on the screen.

"Hey brother!" Marinette greeted, making Jim smile and forget about his worries at the sight of his sister.

"Hey sis, did you get the photos from yesterday?" Jim asked straight off the bat as he watched Marinette pulling out her lunch. The menu consisted of peking duck with a side of noodles alongside an apple, carrot sticks, and two brownies for dessert.

"Yes, I got them, and I have to say that Heartstone Trollmarket is amazing! I've got so many design ideas flowing out of me, that I can't get them all down on the paper!" Marinette gushed, her eyes sparkling in the same fire Jim had seen many times during Marinette's creative spirals as she started to dig into her lunch with her chopsticks.

"Glad to hear that the pictures are offering a new source of inspiration for you. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with." Jim admitted with a fond smile, slowly forgetting about the amulet on his desk.

"Thank you, and I can't wait either. But enough about me, how's your day been?" Marinette asked as she took her first bite of the succulent duck, bringing Jim out of his budding good mood and back into reality.

"Not that great." Jim said with a sigh as he leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling.

"Something went wrong in school?" Marinette worriedly queried, after she finished her first bite and grabbed some noodles, when she saw Jim's defeated posture.

"No, but something did go wrong in Trollmarket." Jim admitted as he looked back at the screen, his voice filled with tiredness.

"Oh boy, what happened?" Marinette asked before she ate her next mouthful, hoping to find a way to help her brother out of whatever he got himself into.

"Well... when I was training down in Trollmarket... Draal interrupted it by offering to be a sparring partner." Jim regaled as he scratched the back of his head while looking to his right, avoiding looking at Marinette.

"Please tell me you said no." Marinette pleaded as she halted her eating, hoping that her brother had the common sense to not get into a fight he couldn't win.

"I wanted to, but Vendal insisted on it, so..." Jim trailed off, to which Marinette immediately caught onto where her brother was heading.

"You didn't!" Marinette exclaimed.

"I had no choice!" Jim argued, knowing that Marinette had figured it out.

"You haven't even had a good amount of training, let alone enough to beat Draal! I talked to Tikki, and she said that he's massive!" Marinette proclaimed, her eyes wide in worry at Jim's implication.

"And I can confirm that. I can send you a photo of him if you want." Jim replied, feeling a bit better from Marinette's worry of him.

"Yes please. I want to know what he looks like so I can kick him in the nuts." Marinette decreed while punching the air to her left, a stoney pout on her face.

"(laughs) They actually call them Gronkk Nukks. It's actually rule number three of three of being a Trollhunter." Jim chuckled as he imagined his petite girl of a sister fighting Draal and taking him down with no trouble at all due to her Ladybug powers. Oh the irony... Draal being taken down by his mother's successor, and sister to his father's.

"You can't be serious." Marinette gufed when she heard what Jim had said, trying to hold back a laugh at how ridiculous it sounded.

"Am too. Blinky literally said 'When in doubt, always kick them in the Gronkk Nukks'." Jim confirmed, causing Marinette to let loose the laugh that she was holding back.

"Wow... did not see that coming." Marinette managed to say through her laughter as she wiped a tear away from her cheek. Jim couldn't help but chuckle alongside her.

"Me neither. But it doesn't matter now." Jim admitted, his laughter dying down as Marinette's did when she heard Jim's words.

"What do you mean?" Marinette asked, her right eyebrow arched up at Jim.

"The spar with Draal ended with me losing in the most embarrassing way possible. So... I'm quitting." Jim revealed with a sigh, causing Marinette's eyes to widen into saucers.

"What? Why?" Marinette exclaimed, leaning closer to her phone and abandoning her lunch.

"What do you mean 'why'? You of all people should be glad I'm quitting." Jim remarked, causing Marinette's eyes to widen even more.

"That's exactly why I'm upset!" Marinette shouted, releasing the righteous fury Jim knew her for when they were kids, which scared him to see it appear. Contrary to popular belief among Marinette's classmates, the girl could hold her own since she was little. But due to constant bullying from Chloé, her confidence had plummeted dramatically. So when Marinette became Ladybug, her confidence was coming back stronger than before... but that wasn't necessarily a good thing when she was mad.

"Both you and Toby know that I stopped being Ladybug, and it almost ended in disaster!" Marinette exclaimed as she tried to convince her brother to not give up.

"Yes, I know. But I haven't been the Trollhunter long enough to make too much of a difference." Jim argued, not buying Marinette's argument.

"Even then, you are making a big mistake. Whether you realize it or not... you have the potential to be a hero!" Marinette proclaimed, her belief in her brother's abilities shining through her words.

"No, I don't! And I was foolish to even believe that! Especially after the way Draal pummeled..." Jim began, his thoughts replaying his humiliating defeat by Draal on a loop.

"Oh forget how Draal humiliated you! You can't honestly quit after one match against a severely superior opponent who has had more training than you, after being peer pressured by the elder of the realm." Marinette rebutted, bringing in some logic into Jim's self-destructive thinking.

"Well, when you put it like that..." Jim trailed off as Marinette's logic started to sink in.

"My point is, Draal wasn't chosen by the amulet... you were. It's a magical relic, and it chose you for a reason. Trust in its judgment, and in yourself like the people who care about you do." Marinette encouraged, giving her brother some of the same advice Jim had given her when she thought of quitting.

"I... I can't. I'm the wrong choice to be the Trollhunter. The amulet made a mistake." Jim sighed, Marinette's words of love and encouragement falling on deaf ears.

"Uhhgh!!! Jim, you have so much potential and you're letting it all go to waste! The only one who is standing in your way... is you! Sure, Draal knocked your confidence down a few pegs, but you can't let him hold that power over you." Marinette growled, her frustration starting to rise... to which caused Jim's to do the same.

"Like how you've haven't let Chloé boss you around for the past few years?" Jim argued back, his voice harboring a growl of his own.

"Watch it Jim." Marinette warned, not wanting to be reminded of how her former self was less confident than she was now.

"You weren't there, Mari. It was absolutely humiliating! And if I could, I would give the amulet to Draal so he can be the hero Trollmarket needs." Jim admitted furiously, his eyes starting to tear up as he tore his gaze away from the screen.

"I thought the same thing too, Jim. But pawning off your responsibilities to someone else who seems to be a better choice, won't fix your problems. I know you bro, you can't just sit by and do nothing when you are involved. I'm saying this as your sister... I made the mistake of not believing in myself. Don't make the same mistake I did." Marinette encouraged, right before she hung up the call with a frown. As soon as he heard the call drop, Jim looked back up to see the screen was blank, save for the 'Call Ended' label right smack dab in the middle of the computer.

"Sis... sis?" Jim called out when he saw that the call disconnected, before concluding that Marinette hung up on him. To be fair, he did go a little too far with his Chloé comment, considering just how much of a nightmare the blonde was to her before Marinette started standing up to her. And she was only trying to help him. But Jim only sat in his chair while he looked over at the amulet on his desk, the relic continuing to taunt him with its pulsing glow.

"You are really annoying, you know that right?" Jim questioned the inanimate object, before he rolled his eyes at it, and went to bed. But he could only stare up at the ceiling as Marinette's words swirled through his head.

"Am I doing the right thing?" the Trollhunter asked himself as he tried to drift off to sleep, nervous for the next morning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day held little to no surprises for Jim, to which he was grateful for, even if Marinette didn't answer their usual lunch time phone call. This had led Jim to believe that he went too far and now she was mad at him, making his mood even more sour. But now, he was currently in the auditorium, and with the cast of the school play as they began practicing for opening night. On stage, Jim and Claire, who to Jim's joy had been cast as Juliet, stood near each other as the teacher passed in front of them. But while Claire was smiling and kept her eyes on Mrs. Janeth, Jim was frowning, his head hanging while he looked at nothing but his clipboard, as the drama teacher addressed them.

" 'Deny and refuse,' But he can't deny it. But Romeo can't not be a Montague, which means that Juliet..." Mrs. Janeth trailed off as she gestured to the attentive Claire.

"And I'll no longer be a Capulet." Claire answered happily, pleasing Mrs. Janeth.

"Exactly!" the drama teacher exclaimed with a laugh as she sat down, before looking at Jim as he continued to look at his clipboard, all eyes upon him.

"Jim?" Mrs. Janeth called out, bringing the boy out of his funk.

"Huh?" Jim asked, looking around to see that the teacher was talking to him.

"Or, if thou wilt not, be sworn my love..." Mrs. Janeth prompted, reading off from where Claire had left off.

"Right. No, I-I got it. Love, deny, refuse. I'm on it." Jim mumbled, reassuring the drama teacher that he was focused.

"Okay, then. Let's take it from 'Wherefore art...' " Mrs. Janeth decided before looking down at her own clipboard, as Claire turned to talk to Jim.

"You okay?" Claire wondered as she faced Jim, making him turn to face her as well.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Totally fine." Jim responded with a chuckle, trying to reassure his new co-star that he was all good, even though he wasn't.

"You're going to need to be a bit more convincing if you're going to play Romeo." Claire warned, making Jim's tense smile fall as he realized that Claire could see through his act.

"I've just got some stuff going on in my head." Jim admitted. To his slight surprise, his answer seemed to be enough for the girl.

"I know we don't know each other all that well, but we're going to be spending a lot of time together, so..." Claire began as she moved closer to Jim, her fingers tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as they smiled at each other, only for Mrs. Janeth to quickly stand up from her seat to grab their attention.

"All right, all right! Act two, scene two, line 33." Mrs. Janeth instructed, getting the two teens back on track as they went back to their previous spots on stage.

" 'Wherefore art thou, Romeo?' "Claire began as Jim smiled, finally feeling the spark of happiness as they continued to rehearse.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From that moment on, Jim's smile remained etched on his face, his mood a thousand times better than it had been before. At least until Steve approached him and Toby, who had been walking with him at the time, by the lockers to which made Jim lose his smile at the sight of the school bully.

"Where have you been? I scheduled your butt-whooping for yesterday, jerk face. And you didn't show. Tick-tock, remember?" Steave interrogated as Jim was pressed against the locker, not happy that he had been kept waiting to give someone a beating.

"He was busy getting his butt whooped by someone else. Take a number." Toby spoke out from the side, causing Steve to turn his gaze to face Toby.

"Back off, dweeb!" Steve exclaimed, before turning to glare at Jim again.

"Steve, I am really not in the mood to do this right now." Jim casually dismissed the bully before staring at him with a deadpan glare.

"Duh! Nobody's ever in the mood to get their face bashed in, but that's what's going to happen unless you want to back down." Steve threatened as other students watched with worried glances. Claire and Darci became among those students as they appeared behind Toby, before Claire's face morphed into a worried expression when she saw Steve bullying Jim.

"Uh, I-I can do that?" Jim asked, hoping to avoid any conflict.

"Sure. You want to crawl away from me, on your knees, bowing in front of everybody? That's a choice." Steve confirmed with a chuckle as he backed away from Jim to give him the space to see what he would do. But at the sight of Jim dropping his bag and landing on his knees, the students were all left in shock, Steve being one of them.

"Whoa! I didn't expect you to actually choose wussing over whooping." the bully admitted with a laugh before Jim's eyes moved over to Toby and Claire's, before deciding that he couldn't let Steve push him around like this anymore.

With another glance, Jim then stood tall, reaching his full height with a determined look on his face. But his new confidence was dismissed by Steve as he chuckled before shoving Jim into a locker. The poor boy let out a groan as his back collided with the metal, before he ducked as Steve punched where he last stood, leading into Jim dodging the next few punches coming his way afterwards.

"Keep still so I can punch your face!" Steve exclaimed as Jim managed to duck from each fist sent to him, running around the area the students began to surround until Steve finally landed one on him. Jim's body dropped as Steve stood proudly over him. But his eyes were not at Steve but were on the glowing amulet inside his bag, and was about to reach for the amulet to help him.

"Stay down and live, worm." Steve threatened, making Jim remember how Draal had told him the same thing just the day before. With a firm look, the words: 'Your life will change forever with one hit.' that Blinky had said yesterday replayed in Jim's mind, making him realize that he didn't need the amulet to help him as he confidently stood back up.

"Is that all you got?" Jim taunted, making Steve growl before he advanced onto the boy. But before the bully could reach him, Claire appears in front of Jim, using her arms as a shield to protect him.

"Leave him alone, Steve!" Claire pleaded, hoping to appeal to his reasonable side.

"Butt out!" Steve exclaimed as he shoved Claire to the side.

"Claire!" Jim cried as Claire's body went flying towards Darci and Toby, who caught her before she could hit the ground. When he saw that she was okay, Jim turned to face Steve once more, seeing as she got even closer to him in the time it took to check on his crush.

"Good thing your mom's a nurse." Steve remarked with a sinister chuckle as he wound his fist back to make another punch at Jim. But Jim had had enough of Steve's antics.

"One hit." Jim mumbled, before he tightly clenched his fist as his confidence grew within him. With a cracking of his knuckle bones, Jim threw a punch underneath Steve's chin, uppercutting him and sending the blonde boy flying from Jim's reckless path, a tooth landed beside Steve's pained face when the bully landed on his beck, defeated.

"She's a doctor, actually." Jim corrected before the surrounding students cheered for him.

"Got one!" Toby exclaimed before he ran to his friend's side, stepping on Steve's arm in the process, while Claire smiled at Jim as she stayed with Darci. "Dude, you did it! And without even kicking him in the Gronk-nuks!" the geo-nerd praised as more students surrounded Jim, stepping on Steve's arm as they surrounded the boy, as the Trollhunter was still shocked at what had occurred before smiling happily. He really did it!

'Now, there's only one thing left to do." Jim thought to himself, as he took in the fact that he stood up to Steve, knowing that his sister was right... he was right for the job.

Down in trollmarket, the local bar was filled to the brim with trolls of all shapes and sizes as some left or joined the crowd inside while waiters and waitresses delivered drinks. But the crowd was only there for Draal as he sat at the bar, speaking his mind.

"It was an epic pummeling!" Draal laughed as he explained what had happened during his sparring session with Jim the previous day. "I was going to kill him, but I just couldn't make up my mind as to how." the crystal-backed troll admitted as he grabbed a drink from one of the passing waiters, before breaking out in laughter with the trolls he was speaking with.

" 'Trollhunter.' I mean, "troll hunted" is more like it." Draal said with a scoff, before he turned to look back at Blinky and Aaarrrgghh!!! as they sipped on their drinks angrily, and laughed once more. Once the son of the last Trollhunter was no longer glaring at them, Blinky's anger started to fade into disappointment.

"If only Master Jim had landed a single hit." Blinky sadly said as he placed his drink onto the table.

"Single hit." Aaarrrgghh!!! agreed, halting his drinking in order to fully put all his focus into glaring at Draal.

"And he would have been changed forever!" Brinkley quietly exclaimed, wishing that Jim had taken the chance to change himself for the better. All while Draal continued to bad mouth Jim to the other trolls.

"Over and over and over. It was incredible! All I want is the chance to wail on that fleshbag again," Draal wished after his bout of laughter, and raised his cup to drink from it. But as Draal lifted the cup to his rock lips, a human hand quickly pushed it down, the liquid inside spilling onto the table beneath them. Draal looked to see that it was Jim who had interrupted him as he stood in front of the large troll.

"Wish granted, loudmouth!" Jim greeted as he confidently glared at Draal.

"Rematch. You. Me. Name the time, name the place, and I'll be there." the Trollhunter said, laying out the terms of a proper fight against them.

"We both will." Toby defended as he walked up to Jim's side. On the other side of the bar, Blinky and Aaarrrgghh were shocked as they watched Jim confront Draal.

"Changed forever."Aaarrrgghh uttered as he wiped off the drink from his chin as he spoke, while Blinky could only nod in agreement as he continued to stare at his pupil in shock. The offended Draal stood up from his seat with a growl, as everyone in the bar surrounded them while the two glared at one another, Jim's face filled with nothing but pure confidence.

(Time Skip)

After Jim's confrontation with Draal, to which ended with a confirmed date for their rematch, the boy had gone home, surprised that he survived standing up to Draal. Admittingly, Jim was riding an adrenaline high after punching Steve, and he didn't entirely think his ultimatum to Draal through. But he couldn't back out of it now, and had no intention to. So after he and his mom had dinner and he did his nightly routine, he sat in his chair, awaiting his usual nightly call with Marinette, hoping that she wasn't mad at him anymore, and he could apologize for his actions the night before. Though when the clock turned 9:10, Jim was worried that Marinette wouldn't call at all.

"Maybe she's still mad at me... can't say that I blame her. But she could at least..." Jim began, only to be interrupted when he saw that someone was trying to call him. And that someone just happened to be Marinette. So with lightning speed, Jim answered the call, allowing a smiling Marinette to appear on the screen.

"Hey sis." the Trollhunter greeted, causing Marinette to wave at him in response.

"Hey Jim." Marinette happily replied back, much to Jim's relief.

"Are you still mad at me?" Jim asked as Marinette began to pull out her lunch from her bag. But when she heard his question, she halted her retrieval.

"You mean about yesterday? No, I'm not mad at you." Marinette admitted as she returned to pulling out her lunch, leaving her brother confused.

"Then, why didn't you answer at lunch?" Jim questioned as his sister put her lunch onto the bench she was sitting on.

"I fell asleep. This movie Nino is planning is pretty intricate. I've even been doubling as the costume designer!" Marinette regaled as she opened her lunch box, showing off her meal of Chicken Chow Mein, two steamed buns, and macaroons for dessert.

"Good on you!" Jim cheered as Marinette placed her focus back onto him as she placed her phone somewhere on the bench so that she could still talk to Jim while she ate.

"Thanks. I'm just glad that today is when we film the actual movie. Then I can get some more free time. But enough about me, how has your day been? Anything happened since the last time we spoke?" Marinette asked as she pulled out her chopsticks and started to eat her meal.

"Well first off, even if you aren't mad at me now, I want to say I'm sorry for what I said. I was just frustrated and I took it out at you, when you are the only person I know that I can relate to. So, I'm sorry, Marinette." Jim apologized, making Marinette's eyes soften at his kind words as she swallowed her first mouthful

"Oh Jim, I won't say that what you said is okay. But I understand where you're coming from, and I forgive you. Just be a bit more mindful of what you say, deal?" Marinette asked, to which made Jim smile at how she was so forgiving of his uncouth behavior.

"Deal." Jim agreed with a smile, as Marinette picked up her next mouthful.

"So now that we have confirmed that no one is harboring any negative feelings towards each other, how was your day?" Marinette asked before she slurped up her chow mein, while Jim prepared to speak

"To put it simply, I've made a big decision. I've decided to listen to your advice." Jim revealed, causing Marinette to raise her eyebrow up at him.

"What advice? I've given you a lot over the years." Marinette inquired after she swallowed her food, making Jim fondly roll his eyes at her remark.

"Ha, ha, very funny. But to answer your question, I meant the advice about... Trollhunting stuff." Jim admitted, to which caused Marinette to perk up right away, and almost forget about her food as she leaned in closer to her phone screen.

"Really? Bro, that's great! I'm so glad that you're listening to me! What made you change your mind?" Marinette rapidly asked, much to Jim's fondness as he waited for her to finish.

"Believe it or not, it was thanks to Steve bullying me." Jim remarked, leaving Marinette speechless.

"Huh?" Marinette uttered, not believing what she just heard.

"Yeah, I can't believe it myself either." Jim replied, breaking his sister out of her silence and back into her 'must know everything' mindset.

"You're going to need to explain how that happened. So spill." Marinette softly ordered as she grabbed her food to eat for when Jim began his tale, causing Jim to chuckle at her antics.

"Fair enough, so it all started after play rehearsals..." Jim said with a laugh, before he started to explain everything from when he last called her, up to when he challenged Draal. He even mentioned that Claire was cast as Juliet for the school play, much to Marinette's shock: (Steve's bullying and Jim's challenge) and joy: (the bit about Claire being Jim's co-star which give him the chance to get closer to her) as she subconsciously ate her food while listening to Jim's story with rapt attention.

"... And then he agreed to have our rematch in a week and two days." Jim finished, leaving Marinette speechless at his words.

"That's only nine days! HOW IS THAT ENOUGH TIME TO PREPARE!!" Marinette screamed, shocked that her brother had agreed to battle Draal with only less than two weeks to prepare.

"It's better than nothing." Jim supplied, seemingly in denial that he had no time to get ready at all.

"No, a month is better than nothing! Nine days IS nothing!!" Marinette exclaimed, her voice becoming panicked and high-pitched.

"Mari... you're spiraling. And you're not even the one fighting the son of our predecessors." Jim pointed out, to which calmed his sister down from her spiraling long enough to glance back at him.

"Excuse me, sorry for being worried and as well as realistic." Marinette remarked, making Jim roll his eyes at her.

"Ha, ha. You used to be much more optimistic." Jim pointed out, to which made Marinette fondly shake her head at him while grabbing a macaroon.

"That was before I found out you signed your death warrant! Why did you think letting Draal choose the time for you guys to fight was a good idea?" Marinette questioned before popping the treat into her mouth, hoping that Jim had a good explanation.

"I was honestly swept up in the moment, and didn't really think it through." Jim admitted as he reached for the back of his neck and scratched it out of nervous habit.

"Clearly. But in all seriousness, I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself. I just wish it didn't have to involve your hubris growing too." Marinette congratulated with a smile, before eating another macaroon.

"Eh, there had to be a trade off somewhere." Jim remarked before the end-of-lunch bell rings on Marinette's end.

"Looks like I have to go." Marinette pointed out as she began to pack her bag up.

"Yeah, and I need to go to sleep. Training tomorrow is going to be intense." Jim explained with a yawn, stretching his arms above him as he did so

"Just make sure you don't pull a muscle or something. I'll tell you how the filming of the movie goes tonight before bed." Marinette promised as she zipped up her backpack and stood up from the bench while she grabbed her phone from its perch.

"Can't wait. Bye sis." Jim replied as he began to wave goodbye to his sister.

"Bye, idiot." Marinette fired back, causing Jim to stop his waving, and his face to fall from fondness to show shock at her response.

"Hey!" Jim exclaimed, even though he had heard Marinette call him slightly worse things when he made a mess of things.

"You know it's true, Jim! Even more so now!" Marinette remarked, as she started to walk to the stairs leading to her next class, only to look up and see Alya waiting for her.

"I beg to differ. Bye sis." Jim fare-well before Marinette waved goodbye as she hung up the call, leaving the screen black as Jim turned off his computer and went to bed, happier than he had been the previous day.
