Chapter 13
Macy's view
I know it sounds weird, sleeping in the same room as Luka, but that's all it was sleeping. He was a true gentleman in respecting my boundaries, even with the disturbing physical attraction between us.
I decided that I needed to start my regime of exercise and work again. So, I did.
The first day I started back I accidentally disturbed Luka "Where are you going?" He asked when he saw me dressed in my exercise clothes.
"For a run and practice" I say.
"Can I join you?" He asked nonchalantly.
"Sure?" I respond "The more the merrier. While you get ready, I'll let Lillian know that I would like her to join us at some point."
I leave to do just that. I enter Lillian's room to see Lucian and Louis cuddled up next to her. Her parents had allowed them to sleep there again after being discharged from hospital. I reach over Lucian and shake Lillian awake. When her eyes opened, I spoke quietly "Morning Lillian"
"Morning Macy, why are you here so early? Is something wrong?"
"I would like you to start training with me of a morning ok?"
"Sure Macy, do you want me to start this morning?"
"I would prefer it, but it's up to you."
"Ok I'll come" she said and started wiggling her way out from between the two boys earning her a complaint.
"Shush" Lillian said "I've got to go." She was dressed already in her exercise clothes so I raised an eyebrow at her. Seeing my look, she said "these clothes are the comfortablist to be in with this wound."
I nod my understanding and go back downstairs to wait for Luka and her.
To my surprise, not too much time later, Lucian and Louis came down with Lillian, dressed in exercise clothes, ready to go with us.
I had them do a slow run to the park where we did a Tai chi set. Lillian looked at her limit, so I sent her home. Luka, Lucian and Louis followed me through my usual routine and by the end the two boys were complaining. I was struggling a little too as I found that the month off not exercising had taken its toll on my fitness.
After that first morning though, the 3 stayed with me doing my exercise regime. Lillian did what she could. The first week she would do the small run, tai chi and return home and collapse. It took a further 3 weeks to be able to do my exercise regime and return to her after school classes.
I was glad that her strength had returned as her scar was an angry red. It would be ok though, all scars looked like that until they lightened over time.
Luka and I became really good friends in this time. I was able to talk with him about anything. To my surprise he even came to church with me, and helped me with the things I liked doing.
"Why are you doing this Luka?" I asked, curious to know why when everyone else was so against anything seen as religious.
"It is surprisingly calming, and I like the people." He said. "From what I can tell is people want to misunderstand what is taught, they want to hate Christians so they do. It's hardly surprising since it's written that Jesus said that would happen. The world hated him first.
So why do you go?"
"Well, honestly, I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for my belief in Jesus."
"How so?" Luka asked cocking his head to the side in interest.
"When I was a child, I was severely bullied. I had decided to kill myself when my parents took me off to see the real meaning of Easter show. They were acting out how the most perfect man alive, one who healed the sick and raised the dead, was crucified for no reason. I related to that I guess; I took it to heart that he died so that I could have life. Yeah, things didn't improve but I felt I was no longer alone.
After experiencing bullying and depression myself, I see it in others and try to help. Though I am not very good at helping. I don't seem to be good at much at all." I say, unable to think of a time that I helped someone emotionally. Physically I could, but not emotionally.
If anything I seemed to be a walking disaster on people's emotions. Take Adrien, for example, I shattered the man's heart by inhabiting the body of his beloved wife. As for Lillian, I don't think I helped at all by allowing the boys sleep next to her...
"Well, I don't know about anyone else, but you've helped me" Luka said sincerely.
I didn't know what to say to that, so I said nothing. I couldn't even bring myself to ask "How?"
"What will you do if you are trapped here?"
"No idea, for all intents and purposes I am still technically Marinette Agreste and yet I am me. I feel like I am a split personality, yet I am not. This is so messed up." I said as I lay back down and covered my eyes with my arm.
Luka didn't say anymore, he stayed for a bit before leaving me to my thoughts. I couldn't help but fall a little bit more in love with the man. I didn't think that I should love anyone in this world like that, but as I said, I couldn't help but love him. It certainly did not help matters that I had become attuned to him as well, as in I knew instantly if he was in my vicinity and where in that vicinity he was.
As it was near dinner time, I went up to see if someone had started dinner. No-one had, so I began. As I was peeling the potatoes Adrien burst in looking upset.
"Are you ok Adrien?" I ask, I can clearly see that he's not ok but how do you ask that? I don't know, it's not one of my skills. I'm more known for sticking my foot in my mouth...
Adrien glanced at me "Just fine!" Sarcasm lacing his voice.
I ignore the tone "What is wrong Adrien?"
"Nothing..."
"I'm not stupid Adrien, I can clearly see something is wrong and I would like to help you if I can as I do care about you."
My concern must have broken through as he then muttered in frustration "I just found out that Felix is back in Paris and he brought our old mansion when it was sold years ago. I didn't realise it was him as he bought it through a trust his mother had set up...
He married and had a kid Emma and Sebastian's age who is being home schooled like I was. He's just like Dad was..."
"Oh, you didn't say anything about his wife, where's she?"
"Don't know, he didn't say. She wasn't there when I visited Felix." He responded.
"Does his kid look happy?" I wondered.
"I don't know, I can't read people like you and Marinette." He said "We're asked to attend a business get together this Saturday. Would you come, I know we're not together anymore but could you come anyway?"
"Sure, I am happy too" I reply.
"But what about Luka?"
"What about me?" Luka asked overhearing the whole conversation.
"Won't it bother you?" Adrien Queried.
"No, she's not my wife as much as I would like her to be, she still is technically yours."
"But aren't you sleeping together?"
A strange look flicked across Luka's face "We've done nothing Adrien. You've literally have more of a relationship that way even now."
"But that..."
"Isn't acted on. As long as she is still officially yours, neither of us will act."
"Oh" Adrien looked strangely happy at that. Luka looked disgruntled. I wondered how much I was tearing him up inside by being unable to respond to him like that despite the obvious attraction.
Luka must have known I was worrying about him as he looked at me and said "I'll be ok Macy." Before disappearing back down to our room.
"So, what do you want me to do Adrien?"
