Chapter 16

Two weeks later, the scenes alternate between Cat Noir and Flash on a rooftop, and Barry Allen in his lab.

Barry Allen works in his lab, analyzing the crime scene.
Along with working on the modified Tachyon Enhancer.

Barry: Gideon, cross reference the genetic signature, and send a copy of the results to Officer Raincomprix's precinct.

Gideon: "OKAY, BARRY ALLEN."

Barry: By the way, how's it coming with the components for the Tachyon Enhancer?

Gideon: "THE STRUCTURAL DESIGN IS NEARLY COMPLETE.
WE JUST NEED TO FIND THE FINAL COMPONENT TO COMPLETE THE DEVICE."

Barry: Excellent.

Barry turns back to photos of the crime scene.

Flash: "I don't like this, one bit, Cat."

Cat Noir and Flash discuss the recent events.

Cat Noir: Neither do I. It's not like Ladybug to be late for patrol.

Flash: Come to think of it, I haven't seen her since last week.

Cat Noir: Did she say anything to you, then?

Flash thinks back for a second.

Flash: All she said to me was that she had a lot on her plate. She seemed pretty upset.

Cat Noir: I don't blame her.
Mrs. Dupain-Cheng meant a lot to so many people.
Her death was an absolute tragedy.

Barry examines a 3D hologram
of the Dupain-Cheng residence.

He examines all the entry points for the bakery.

Barry: The only possible entry point where the killer could've snuck in without being seen, would be the rooftop.

Barry then analyzes the stab wound with a 3D scan of the photos.

Flash: "Actually, Cat. I've been meaning to talk with you about that."

Barry reviews footage of Hawk Moth battling Ladybug and Cat Noir.

Flash: "I've been working with a local Forensic scientist.
And the stab wound found on Mrs. Dupain-Cheng.
Was caused by a long sword, something similar to a sword-stick."

Cat Noir: So it was Hawk Moth that killed Marinette's mother?
He's the only person I can think of who uses something like that.

Flash: Well, yes and no. Hawk Moth was responsible for murdering Marinette's mother, yes. But it wasn't the Hawk Moth of this time. It was the Hawk Moth of the future.

Cat Noir: This wouldn't be the first time we've had to deal with the Hawk Moth of the future.
Last time, he sent a supervillain called Time-Tagger to travel to the past to take our Miraculous.

Flash: See, that's the thing, Cat. I did some digging.
And I found out Future Hawk Moth isn't a man at all. It's a woman.

Cat Noir's face lights up in shock.

Cat Noir: Okay that's not what I was expecting.
Do you know who this future Hawk Moth is?

Flash: Not yet. My Forensics associate is still trying to figure that out.

Cat Noir: Well, whoever this Future Hawk Moth is, they certainly stirred up a lot of trouble for Marinette.
Question is, why?

Flash: I don't know, Cat, but whatever it is, it can't be good. But there's still one thing I don't understand.

Cat Noir: What's that?

Flash: My Forensics associate found another strand of DNA samples at the crime scene. And it was an exact match to Lila Rossi.

Cat Noir: Why would Lila's DNA be at the crime scene?

Flash: No clue, but according to my associate, she was at the school the whole time. She never left the building.

Cat Noir: So this Future Hawk Moth was trying to frame Lila, or this Future Hawk Moth is the Lila of the future.

Flash: Well, there's no guarantees. We'll have to wait till this future adversary shows themselves.

Cat Noir: Well, on that note, I better be off. See you, Flash.

Flash: Be seeing you, Cat.

They both head off, elsewhere.
