chapter twenty-four

| TWENTY-FOUR |
GOING, GOING, GONE

After Pam got over her initial shock, she picked up the cane that the Magister dropped. She pointed that silver tip at his chest above his heart before sinking it in without hesitation. He turned into a mess of blood and guts on the floor that was still sizzling from being burned.

"Good riddance," Pam stared down at the mess in satisfaction before throwing the cane onto the mess.

She allowed herself that moment of satisfaction before she exclaimed, "Now, what the fuck are we gonna do? We're in such deep shit."

"Because he was Authority?" she tried to understand.

"Yes," Pam sighed. "His death won't go unnoticed and no doubt they'll think Eric is responsible. He'll probably even take the blame to protect you."

Her eyes widened before she said protectively, "Well, then I'll burn the Authority, too."

Pam chuckled, "This was a nice trick but you can't take out the Authority. You're kidding yourself."

Eira went to argue that she could, in fact, do it because killing vampires was what she was born to do. But then she realized that with the way Pam stared at her in disbelief that Eric never even told his progeny about what she could do. He kept her secret only to himself and, perhaps, it should stay that way. Vampires would be very interested in learning about her so the less Pam knew the better.

"So..." Eira questioned. "What do we do?"

"Well, we clean this up first," Pam looked at the mess. "There can no trace of this."

Eira looked down at the mess that had stopped sizzling finally as she nodded. She was hoping that since she didn't actually kill the vampire and just merely burned him that her supposedly dangerous grandmother wouldn't have sensed anything. Since her powerful grandmother didn't miraculously appear out of thin air, she felt like she was in the clear. At least, she hoped.

Pam vamp sped up the stairs and then came back with cleaning supplies. It seemed like she was about to say something before she pushed a rag into her hands and commanded forcefully, "Get down on your knees and act like you're cleaning it. And whatever you do, you don't say a word."

Eira did as she said and dropped her to knees. She started to soak up the blood with the rag. But then a vampire sped down and stopped at the bottom of the stairs.

Eric.

She started to smile and went to get up but Pam put her hand on her shoulder and pushed her back down. He stared a bit in shock before he looked at Pam, "What happened?"

"Don't look at me," Pam said. "Look at her."

Eric almost didn't want to believe it as he placed his eyes on her. He didn't want to believe that she'd place herself in danger so easily as he stated hopelessly, "Tell me you didn't."

Pam furrowed her eyebrows. It was like he knew Eira could do something like this.

"Pam was in danger..." Eira went to argue but Eric placed a finger over his lips for her to be silent and she listened as two other vampires came down the stairs.

One was a woman, Queen Sophie-Anne, that seemed bored and wanted to be anywhere but here. Another was an older man, Russell, in a suit with brown hair and beady blue eyes that seemed to radiate power.

Eira wondered if she should use her powers to burn them as well. But she didn't want to push it if she didn't have to; she already felt so weak still.

Russell smiled as he came down the stairs, "Love the place. Love your vibe. We must talk franchising later."

Then his gaze took in the scene before him, "Now, what do we have here? Is that mess on the floor the Magister?"

"Yes," Pam smirked.

"Well, you took care of a problem for me, darling," Russell smiled. "And I'd love to know how you managed to pull one over the old bastard."

"I can't take the credit sadly," Pam lied. "It was my stupid, little human."

"A human?" Russell trained his gaze on Eira. "She smells simply magnificent."

"She really does," Sophie-Anne closed her eyes in ecstasy as she breathed in her scent. Eric who was slightly behind the other two vampires threw a glare at the Queen. He would tear her head off if she touched Eira.

"Yes, which is why I always kept her down here for when I wanted a snack," Pam explained. "The Magister was going to keep her as one, too, but he didn't think to check her for any weapons. Since I glamoured her to think she loves me, the girl just couldn't help herself from helping me. Now I have her cleaning up the mess."

"She had a weapon hidden from the Magister?" Russell questioned. "And he didn't notice?"

"There are two places on a woman that a man never checks," Pam smirked. "And this stake was kept in the more uncomfortable place."

Eira felt her eyes widen a bit in shock. She realized what Pam was implying: that she kept a stake wedged up her ass.

Russell laughed, "That's just brilliant. The Magister killed by a pathetic human. I'd like to get an up close look at her myself."

Eira looked at him hesitantly. But Pam kicked her a bit, not enough to hurt, as she spoke coldly, "You heard him."

Eira scrambled to get up before she walked over to Russell. Eric gazed at her fearfully from behind him. He was grateful that Pam was lying so well; he wouldn't have been able to. He wouldn't have been able to control his feelings.

"She's positively scrumptious," Russell smiled. "But why does she smell so good?"

"She's not like that human that Compton was interested in, is she?" Russell questioned.

"No," Eric finally spoke as he smiled nervously. "She has that human condition that turns the hair white..."

"Albinism?" Russell asked.

"That's the one," Eric stated. "We think it makes her blood more pure."

"I've never had an albino before surprisingly."

"And..." Eric smirked; he wanted Russell to think her blood was sweet because of a number of human reasons. "She's a virgin."

"Ooh, virgin blood," Russell smirked. "So fucking sweet."

"Well, I'd love to sink my fangs into her...but we have business we must attend to," Russell said which made Eric gain a look of relief before Russell smiled at Pam. "But do enjoy her for me."

"Certainly," Pam smirked.

Russell and Sophie-Anne headed up the stairs. Eric lingered for a moment as he gave Eira a soft, delicate look. She gave him one back before he headed up the stairs after them. She only knew they were completely gone once Pam made an exclamation.

"Thank fuck."

The mess of the Magister was cleaned quickly by Pam with vampire speed. Then they headed up the stairs as Pam made it clear that she needed to go home and not come back until Eric said it was safe to do so. But once they left the basement, Pam quickly noticed another presence in the room.

"Who the fuck are you?"

Eira turned her head to see an older lady sitting on the throne. She had a short grey hair which revealed her age along with her weathered skin. She had patient grey blue eyes that watched them like a hawk.

"You can call me Velma," she smiled and it gave her the perception of nice old lady but there was something off about it; like the smile was just a mask. "I'm her grandmother. And she'll be coming with me now."

Eira felt her eyes widen at those words. Oh no. And the way she spoke made her worried. She spoke with a tone of finality like there was nothing that could stop her from getting what she wanted.

"I think the fuck not," Pam stood in front of Eira protectively.

Velma simply raised a nimble finger on the arm rest and Pam went flying through the air before landing on tables. Eira stared in shock but then suddenly she was somewhere else.

By the time Pam got to her feet which was only mere seconds, the old lady was nowhere to be found along with Eira. Pam called out her name multiple times in panic because she did not want to have to tell Eric that she lost Eira. But she was exactly that: gone.

AN: okay guys this is the end of part one. Season 3 continues on in the same way basically except Eric does not have sex with Talbot; he kills him right after he takes off his clothes. Eric uses Sookie and all that but obviously Eric isn't in danger of burning in the sun and Russell picks up on that. He figures out that it's Eira that allows daywalking before he's buried under cement.

There'll be snippets of what happens in part 2 and all will be clear but I just wanted to let ya'll know what happened since I'm not writing anymore of season 3

But we're now moving onto part 2 of the story which involves my own plot. Sadly, I start school back up Monday and they are throwing us into the fire so there's not going to be any updates until beginning of May. If I have free time, I will but if not then we're on hiatus until May where I'll finish the book completely over the summer
