Gulf's POV

I was feeling so heavy and extremely weak, I was awake but I barely could open my eyes, my body wouldn't listen to me while I kept laying down doing my best to open my eyes and look around, the room was almost dark if it wasn't for the candle's dim light next to me, I squinted my eyes looking to my sides to find the wolves sleeping, it made me smile seeing them by my side but they must have felt that I was on the verge of death so they accompanied me in place of being with Mew who is surely fine

Even though I was fighting for my life, I'm sure I heard his voice a couple of times apologizing, it's not his fault, I must tell him that or he will keep feeling guilty, after trying for a while I begin to move my hands, as if they felt I was awake, Fang and Finn quickly stood up watching me for a moment then they ran out while I was still trying to move my body but it was useless

"Gulf!!!" Mew was the first to come, he looked so concerned

"I'm fine, don't worry" I managed to say with a hoarse voice

"don't move, you body is still recovering from the poison, I'm sorr-"

"please don't apologize, it's not your fault, it was that evil man's fault for trying to hurt you, besides I should have been more careful, you almost died because of me"

"you saved me, I own you my life, thank you Gulf" I weakly smiled

"how is your wound?"

"it completely healed thanks to the blue flowers that you used"

"I'm glad, I actually used them based of a theory, I actually saw a bird landing there and covering his own wounded wing with the flower"

"even if it's a theory it worked, we also used it for you, covering your cut and making you drink it"

"thank you for saving me king Mew" a couple of doctors came checking on me

"you need to rest for another few days, your immunity system is so low because of the poison and lack of nutrition"

"for how many days I've been sleeping?" I asked

"four days"

"I'm supposed to be back to my city"

"I discussed everything with your professor, your stay here is extended for another two weeks, the rest of the guests left yesterday night, I will write a letter to your professor to notify him that you're fine"

"thank you, I'm so glad I can stay here for a longer time" I was so excited and impatient to quickly recover

For the next three days, Mew have spend almost all his time by my side, he even helped feeding me since I still couldn't move my body well, it felt a little embarrassing at first, he even would wipe my lips and helped cleaning my body with a wet towel, even though I declined since he is a king yet he kept ignoring me saying it's his responsibility since I saved him,  he even waits until I fall asleep before he goes to bed and he will wake me up in the morning, somehow his extra care of me made me a little emotional and he noticed that

"are you alright? You look a little sad" he said while we slowly walked around the garden, being outside refreshed me a lot, I smiled looking to the gardener watering the plants

"it's the first time someone took care of me like this, even my own family would just buy me the medicine and leave me alone at home because of work"

"that's wrong of them, when someone is sick it's better to have someone next to him" I smiled again

"well, it doesn't matter now, I'm already an adult"

"no matter how old you are, every person needs someone when their happy times or sad times or sick times, it's a natural thing to do"

"I wish that the world had the same thinking and beliefs like you, btw, I'm sorry you had to stay with me all the time even though you are busy"

"you are my good friend, I own you my life so it's normal for me to take care of you, besides my brothers Leo and Jay are taking care of everything"

"can I ask what happened to that man?" I was a bit hesitant since I saw how hurt and devastated Mew was when he discovered that his close cousin was the criminal, his expression turned sorrowful

"his was found hiding in a cave by the mountain two days ago, he is thrown in the dungeon, his parents, my uncle and his wife came apologizing and kneeling in front of me which broke my heart even more, they were a mess and kept blaming themselves for not raising him well, they even decided to leave the castle and go live in the other small island on the right side, I know it's not their fault by I couldn't say anything since they were his parents"

"I know it's hard for you too since you have to punish him as king while he is your cousin, well no matter what, don't blame yourself or regret anything, it was his fault for letting the bad emotions control him"

"I also need to punish him for hurting you"

"don't mind me, like he said I'm just an intruder here so-"

"no you're not!!!" he suddenly yelled startling me, even the gardener looked our way, when he noticed Mew, he bowed and left

"everyone I invite here are my precious guest and Gulf, you are more than a guest, you are my first foreign friend, you are also liked by my wolves and everyone on this island so please don't call yourself an intruder because you're absolutely not" I was taken aback for a moment watching his sincere serious eyes, his words really hit me hard and made me feel like I belong here

"thank you king Mew, it's really an honor to be your friend, thank you for accepting me" this accident made us closer than before, I even found myself sharing my secrets with him that I never told to anyone else, he too seemed to feel so comfortable and would tell me all sort of things about himself and his family, also I got to meet his parents who rushed back, they even apologized to me and sincerely thanked me for protecting their son

A week has passed, I got so much better so I decided to go watch my beloved flower that saved both Mew and me for death, I wanted to ask him to come along but I saw him busy so I asked Fang and Finn to accompany me as I slowly made my way there, I'm lucky I have a good memory and remembered the way to and back from that field or me and Mew would have died that night

When I arrived, all memories of what happened there came back rushing and I felt myself shiver for a moment, I heard that fear can push someone to do unbelievable things and it's actually true, I was really scared, I even froze when he held the sword to my neck, yet because I was afraid to see Mew hurt or losing my life, my body jumped trying to protect us both, I ended up being poisoned but I don't regret saving Mew, I would have hated myself if I ran away and Mew died

I sat admiring the always extraordinarily beautiful flowers with their different hues of blue, the soft wind was blowing making me so peaceful and contented, the sweet scent of the flowers and the scent of the ocean was mixing giving a refreshing perfume fragrant, I laid down while Fang and Finn sat on each side, I reached gently patting them as we enjoyed ourselves in that pure nature

"Gulf!!! Fang! Finn!" the three of us were awaken by Mew's voice calling us and walking toward us, we sat watching him

"you should have told me if you wanted to come here" he said

"I'm sorry, I saw that you were busy so I took your knights with me, it seem we felt cosy here that we fell asleep"

"you really got close to my wolves, I even found them with you instead of being with me when we were injured"

"I'm delightful to be accepted and liked by them but, actually wolves are sensible animals, when they feel that someone they know is on the verge of death they would accompany him until his last breath, they must have sensed how bad my health was back then and that you will be fine so they stayed by my side"

"I see, that explain it, oh here I brought some fruits on my here" we sat watching the flowers dancing with the wild and some animals coming and going back into the forest, I saw some astonishing butterflies flying around, those are the best moments of my life but unfortunately time pass so fast that I found myself heading to the plane

"thank you for you hospitality and everything you did for me, this island is so pristine and fascinating, keep taking care of it and don't let any foreigner try to harm it"

"we will, it's our precious land after all" Leo said

"when I got back, I will buy you all kind of books, photos and things and send it back to you with Liam" they smiled

"thank you Gulf" Jay said, I knelt down patting the guardians who looked sad, I smiled

"stay healthy and keep taking care of this island king, you are his beloved knights, we will meet again" they licked my hands

"I will invite so make sure to come again Gulf" Mew said stepping closer

"of course I will, for me this land is my real home and everyone here is my second family" they smiled as I said my goodbyes and started to head toward the plane door, suddenly Mew came and hugged me tightly surprising me for a moment

"you became a close friend to me Gulf, stay safe and make sure to come back" I smiled and patted on his back

"you are also a precious friend king Mew, take care of yourself and rely on your siblings more, if you ever needed anything send me a letter and I will come running to you" he kept hugging for a minute then he pulled away, he smiled watching me entering the plane, with one last glance the door closed and I found myself looking down the island that started to get smaller filled with sadness, I felt like I was forcefully taken away from my homeland

As soon as I arrived I was greeted by my friends and professor who was glad that I looked completely fine, honestly I wasn't surprised that my family didn't even come see me at the airport, but at least they asked me how I was and told me to go to the hospital, I'm glad they didn't ignore me after our last fight before I traveled.

My daily life quickly returned to how it was, spending all day at the lab working on my graduation project, the only difference is that I would spend a little time watching the photos of the island and the people, I also took many selfies with Mew and some with his family and the wolves

It only has been a month since I returned but I was feeling so nostalgic and yearned to go back there, when I close my eyes, pictures of the blue field keep swimming in my mind remembering the clean air and the sweet scent, the small talks and telling the stories to the kids, the laughs and the secrets exchanged with Mew, honestly I miss everyone there but especially Mew, everything happened so naturally between us as if we've known each other for years, his funny curious side, his serious side when working, his gentle and kind side when he is talking to the town people

Another two months passed and I found myself getting my diploma during the graduation ceremony, my project and my report were so much appreciated and liked by the professors and the researchers and was immediately recommended to work at the university as a professor and to join a special research team there

I was so happy and excited, I finally achieved my dream and truly became what I wanted, my work got really recognized by famous herb and flower specialists and it was made public, being this accomplished and recognized made my family a little happy and accept my work since many of their clients and co-workers complimented me to them, aside for all this, I really wished to celebrate my success with Mew, I don't know why, but I kept having this urge to meet him and brag about my project to him

'wait a second, now that I think about it, I've been only thinking about him for the past 3 months' I thought while watching the night sky from the balcony, I got surprised when I realized that all my memories and thoughts were almost all about Mew, for some reason, I found myself blushing as a my heart made a single loud thumb

It can't be right? We naturally became closer but... did I also naturally...?
