Third Person’s P.O.V.

When Subaru steps into the Police Station and walks towards the inquiry desk, he is shocked as he notices a familiar green hair boy standing over there, leaning against the wall. He can feel the gaze from that boy, and he returns the gaze. The time seems to be stopped, until they both speak in unison with surprise and confusion.

“ Kanata? “

“ Subaru? “

Kanata’s P.O.V.

Subaru is walking towards me with a face which is filled with questions. Actually, I am also surprised that he will come here… Is he still care about Ako? No! He just sees her as friends. And he will not know what has happened to her… He only cares about Nijino Yume…

Wait! Nijino Yume? Is she in danger again…? Maybe… they are related…

“ Kanata! Why are you… “

A police officer comes to us and stops Subaru from asking. “ We have located the position of Saotome san. Can you come with me for further details? “

“ Sure. “ I reply. I turn to Subaru. “ And this is my friend, Subaru Yuki. He may also have somethings which is related to this incident to tell us. Can he come with us too? “

He stares at Subaru when raising his eyebrows, and then he allows him entering the conference room with us.

Once we are well-seated with other police officers, the inspector stands up and starts explaining with the powerpoint.

“ This morning, in an alley near Sakura Park, we discovered a corpse of a police officer burying in a pile of rubbish after receiving the report from Kira san. According to the timetable, he was on his beat at that moment. After examining the corpse,  we found that he has been shot by a gun in his heart, and this was the reason of his death. Besides, we noticed some obvious wounds and bruises on his arms and around his neck. We believed that he was engaged in a fight before he died. He was forcibly pulled into the dark alley by being hooked around his neck. And the wounds were left when he was struggling. After checking his belongings, we found that his gun was missed. We had made a hypothesis. The criminal wanted to take the gun away from the police officer, who was on his beat on street near the park. At that early time, no one was around, so he could take action. He pulled the officer, who was unconscious of his existence, into the alley and tried to get the gun away. The officer refused and started struggling and fighting for the gun. In this process, the criminal used the gun to shoot the officer, exactly in his heart. After finding out that he has killed the officer, he escaped. “ The inspector explains. “ Do you have anythings to add, Kira san? “

I nod and stand up. “ Since my friend, Saotome Ako, was just being rejected by her crush, I was very worried about her. I was afraid that she would commit suicide due to the sorrow and depression, so I gave her a bracelet which was installed a GPS tracker in it, so that I could check her location regularly… “

I can notice a guilty expression on Subaru’s face when talking about Ako’s situation. I slightly move up my glasses before continuing the topic.

“ She did not know the function of the bracelet as it was secretly placed around her wrist when she was sleeping. If she knew, she would not allow me to do this. In this morning, I found that she has gone to Sakura Park. Due to my worries, I went there to look after her. On my way, I heard some noises emitted from an alley. I sneaked to there and hid behind the wall, then, I saw two man fight for a black object in their hands. One was a police officer and another one was a tall man who wore all black. Suddenly, the police officer slipped on the ground. The tall man took the black object by chance, and with a loud noise, blood flowed out from the body of the police officer. The tall man ran away at once. At that moment, I just knew that that black object was a gun… “

“ Then, you immediately reported to us? “ One of the police officer asks me. I nod. From my view, I can notice that Subaru is thinking of something with a frown after hearing my words.

“ After coming to here and reporting to the policemen, I checked the location of Ako one more time during the spare time. What surprised me was that, Ako went to a discarded industrial area which was far away from the city. I knew that that area was not known by most of the people living in here. And a lot of serious crimes have been happened there. Therefore, I started worrying about her situation. She might not go to there by her own wills, so I reported her situation to you soon. “ After i have finished, I turns to Subaru, “ Do you have something to say? “

He seems to be surprised by my sudden question. Later, he stands up. I can notice dark shadows in his original shimmering blue eyes.

He must know something… And it must be very serious and important…

I feel that my eyebrows are furrowed without my notices.

Ako… What has happened on you… ?

I just want to know that you are safe…

Subaru’s P.O.V.

After hearing Kanata and the inspector’s words, I can sure that the tall man in Kanata’s words was Yume’s stepfather. That makes me even worried since… he had gun in his hand… He could kill an unrelated man mercilessly. How wouldn’t he treat Yume, the one he hated,  in the same way? No! He would use an even ruthless method to torture her and kill her… Even Yume was his step-daughter, he has put no love on her. He just saw her as a tool to earn money for his own use. He never saw her as his daughter. Once she was useless to him, he could destroy her without any hesitations. He was that kind of villain.

Suddenly, Kanata asks me about my opinions. I am shocked. At the same time, I admire his observation skills. He must notice something wrong on me…

Yume… Please forgive me…

I stand up. Before saying a word, I have a deep breath to calm down myself first. Then, I tell everyone about Yume, including that she was a stepdaughter of a criminal and she was trained to be a thief from a very young age. I can notice the shocked faces of the inspector and officers even though they are concentrating on jotting notes. Soon, I come to the most important topic, the disappearance of Yume in Sakura Park. From everyone’s expressions, I believe that they all have the same thoughts with me. Yume was being kidnapped by her stepfather, and now she is going to step into death…

“ You said that you and Yume were in Sakura Park at that time… Maybe Ako was actually in nearby… She might have discovered everything happened on Yume! “ Kanata shouts out. I can figure out his fear on his face. He is really worried about Saotome san…

Silence engulfs the whole conference room until the door is being pushed open with a great force. The loud sound from the action of slamming door makes us stare at that direction in unison.

“ Inspector! We just found that the signal from the GPS tracker of the bracelet disappeared! The girl may encounter accidents! “ A police officer rushes in with a pant.

“ What?! “ I find that I and Kanata both jump up from the seats and slam on the table with shock.

“ Where did the signal disappear? “ The inspector asks.

“ In a discarded plane components factory in the third zone of the industrial area. “

“ Okay. Let’s head to there. Arrive in the car park within 5 minutes with your equipment! “ After the command from him, all the police officers leave the room in a rush.

“ Inspector! “ I and Kanata stop him from leaving. “ We want to go there too! “

“ What? You two are just children… It is too dangerous from you to go. “ He raises his eyebrows and hisses.

“ We are already 18 years old! “ I shout nervously.

“ And those two girls are important people for us. “ Kanata adds.  

Watching our pleads, he finally gives up. “ Fine… You can come with us, but please make sure to protect your safety. And remember not to enter the factory without our protections. “

“ Yes! “ We reply with a small smile. Then, we follow him to enter a car and head to where Yume and Ako are.
