Chapter Two

I stood in awe as the light blue SPCA building towered above me, my stomach tightened as mum gestured for me to go first. When you come inside the SPCA you enter the shop with dog and cat treatments, horse wormers and more, there were three doors, one had a sign saying toilets on it, the second stated Adoption room and the third read employment room. We cautiously entered the third room.

There were a few chairs and a desk with three SPCA ladies fussing over some adoption forms. On two of the chairs was a girl and her mother. The girl had thin, blond, wavy hair. Her nose was splashed with freckles, her eyes were kind looking and hazel in colour. I watched as she filled in her application form, her name was... Lucy and she was... Seventeen yrs old! Same age as me!

One of the ladies at the desk disappeared onto a door to the right. When she returned she called out. "Lucy Meadowcroft." Lucy stood up instantly and followed her into the room. About twenty minutes later the same lady, followed by Lucy, appeared through the door. "Elisabeth Morton-Jones!" I jumped enthusiastically, and almost tripped running towards her. I slipped through the door to find myself in a small room with two chairs.

I sat opposite the lady and we began the interview. She looked very young, maybe twenty?

"Hi I'm Rebecca and I'm the SPCA's manager, I'm going to ask you a few questions and write down your answers kapesh?"

"Okay!"

"Right here we go, question one, what do you enjoy doing the most?"

"Oh um... Horse riding, painting, drawing, and animals, and um, well, that's about it I suppose!"

"Hmm okay, what were your results in school?"

"Um, excellence in English, Tech and Drama, merit in Maths!"

"Good, question three, why do you want a job here?"

"Oh for all those poor animals! Not for the money although everyone needs an income but that's not the point! Those animals need help they need love and a REAL home, I just can't help but feel like I have to do something for them!"

"You go girl!" Rebecca accidentally yelled.

"Opps, sorry, question four, if you did get a job here, what section would you like to work in?"

"Well really I'd be happy in any but I would LOVE to work with the horses!"

I squeaked excitedly.

"Well that's all the questions for now, I've written down your answers and... Yeah well I guess you can go now."

Okay thank you!"

I stood up and followed her out of the room. Another boy had arrived. "Ty Van Pels." Rebecca called. "How was it?" Asked mum with a smile. "Great! She just asked some questions and wrote down my answers!" "Well time to go then!" I sighed, this place seemed to have a magic touch, a feeling of safety. I hope, so much that it's freaky, that I get in.
