Found Asleep

Reed walked into the kitchen quietly. It was close to four thirty in the morning. He hadn't been able to go back to sleep, so he'd gotten up.

He noticed that the door leading downstairs was open slightly. He walked over and pushed it open. A soft, dim light barely reached the base of the stairs.

He walked downstairs quietly. He paused, searching for the source of the light. It didn't take long to find.

The light was coming from the lamp on Venn's desk. Venn was sitting there. At first glance, it looked like he was just leaning forward. Upon closer look though, it was clear he was asleep.

One leg was hooked around one of the chair leg, the other was stretched out under the desk. His arms were folded on the desk and his head was rested on his arms. His breathing was slower than usual.

Reed smiled slightly and walked over. He looked down at what Venn had been doing. Just paperwork from their last few cases. A pen lay a couple inches from Venn's hand.

Reed briefly considered waking Venn, then decided against it. Venn barely slept as it was. Instead, Reed found a blanket and draped it gently over Venn.

Venn stirred slightly, but didn't wake.

After a few more minutes, Reed headed back upstairs, leaving the exhausted Venn in peace
