Though I am proud of my work I'm not as confident as you assume I would be about it because of such I don't copyright any of my books meaning anybody could actually copy and paste it but seeing as I write for what a lot of people count as a dead fandom I assumed it would never happen until I was on Tumblr..

Someone has stolen my work and instead of crediting me for it they instead changed the name from Damien to Shinsou (MHA). See I would've been okay with this, I'm actually a really chill person and all I asked for was credit for the 'template' they used and instead they got scared and deleted it and since I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it I didn't bother doing anything.

Until it happened AGAIN where I was once again on Tumblr. The same thing happened with the same story but this time a different character. From Damien to Saiki (DLOSK). Which is really weird since my story doesn't fit him at all, I will admit they changed a couple of things other than the name so I wasn't really as upset as I was with the other person so I just told them to give me credit for the base of the story since it was basically the same from how the reader meets them to the reader training the character on mind reading then ends exactly the same.

I thought I was once again just being paranoid as usual so I didn't do anything about it until someone on here messaged me saying that they saw the story and they were asking if I gave that person permission. And when I told them no but I'm not too worried about it they left it as is and then sooner or later I started to get more messages about it and only then did I realize more people seeing the similarities to our stories meant I wasn't crazy.

When I messaged the person about it they instantly started insulting me from how the story was trash and that she made it better then start act like the victim sending me screenshots of people who have DM to me messaging her and calling her a plagiarizer and to take it down and how even without permission I'm okay with it but they aren't etc.

Eventually she made death threats to herself and it was a big ordeal but I was able to straighten everything out. She is now using a different account and has deleted my story off of her old account.

After that happened I got upset at the wrong people. The readers who were telling her to take it down were just trying to help me and I needed to realize that but I was still very upset that they went behind my back and did it. Everything was all smooth sails until it happened again today. This time with my James and the reader having an eating disorder story. From James to Levi (AOT).

Admittedly not one of my proudest works but after seeing what happened to last time I didn't do anything I decided to take matters into my own hands and was very upfront about it, telling the person that I need it to be taken down immediately and that they didn't have my permission as the original author to post it let alone change the name of the character and pass it off as their own.

And no questions asked they did as I said after they did they apologized profusely. A part of me feels a little bad but the rest of me knows I did the right thing and that plagiarism is not cool and I can't be so chill about everything. I'm now copyrighting every one of my books and I'm hoping some of you guys can learn from my mistakes. I've dealt with all three types of story robbers.

Please please please copyright your stories because Wattpad does not do it automatically for you.

Play it safe, your stories are your children. You plan and write them out from beginning to end, you can't just let someone take it away from you and take credit for your hard work. Even if you think they're bad! They. Are. Yours. Fight for them, you made them for people to enjoy not to take.
