Page 20: Some Good Things Must Come to an End || (Damien x Reader) ✔

"The.. end.."

All the kids clapped, some of the parents joining in as well.

You smiled as you stood next to Damien, he just finished reading a book he wrote to some kids at a local library.

Damian was so passionate about being a children's author. It suited him and his childlike wonder, the man was filled with innocence well as much as an incubus could have.

Damien smiled softly to the group, next to you this was what gave his life meaning. To make kids happy, to hear their cheers after he finished reading a happy book, to really connect with them.

You knew all too well that Damien wanted kids. He didn't even have to tell you, you could see it in his face. The gentle smiles, the way he lit up when did he looked at kids, you didn't know if he wanted to be a dad or kidnap one of them.

"I promise I don't want to kidnap children" Damian spoke reassuringly.

"Huh- oh right.."

Mind-reading. You always forgot that Damian could read minds at the worst times.

"But, being a.. parent does sound nice.."

He held your hand just a little tighter as you both walked out of the library.

"It would be fun to have someone's opinion, especially someone that the book is directed to"

He smiled softly to himself, Damien was a talker on his own terms. Not that he didn't like to talk to you it's just that he would get caught up in his own head, or someone else's.

But suddenly his smile was gone and his hold on your hand tightened as he pulled you somewhere, his speed walking turned into running and you struggled a bit to keep up.

"Damien where are we-"

And suddenly he stopped.

"Wait here, I'll be right back.."

He made quick steps to walk into an alleyway. You listened to him, glancing around the street, almost no one was there.

Almost..

You heard some scruffing in the alleyway Damian went into but you didn't move, he could take care of himself and he told you to wait..

Just as you started to question whether or not you should go look for him, he emerged cradling a small boy.

The kid looked beat up, and was clinging to Damien like his life depended on it.

"Damien.. we- we need to get him out of here"

Damien held the little guy gently as he pet his head, "Yeah.. he'll be safer"
