Pre-Apocalypse Games
(Saturday after Discovery)
I finally found out where to sign up. Apparently a teleporter opens up in Seasons every Sunday labled "Sign-Ups". When I teleported there, it looked like a voting booth. I tapped the pad and it opened up five tabs. Apocalypse, Maze, and Assassins were lit up. They were in the order they were going to happen. I tapped Apocalypse. It told me to put in my codename. After I did, it printed out a slip of paper that told me when and where to go. I had to go on Monday, 12:00 P.M. to the Hunger Games participants booth. I went to the cafeteria to see if I could finally drink a chocolate milkshake.
(Monday 11:30 P.M.)
I went to the cafeteria. Apparently I can't drink any chocolate milkshakes, because some mysterious force keeps me from drinking them, so I ordered a strawberry smoothie. After I got it, I went to the HG Participants Booth. I chose a pod and left my strawberry smoothie. I learned from Anklebreaker that you could lock the pod that you would use during the games, so it's like a reserved spot. So after I put my smoothie in, I closed the door and locked it. I walked around the Participants Booth until I found a room labeled, "Training Room". Inside, there was an apocalyptic-designed room with a shooting range. There were three people in the room, including Anklebreaker. I went to the shooting range next to him.
"I see you have good choices in games." He said.
I replied, "Well, this was the only one open that seemed like fun."
"So you think Maze and Assassins are boring?"
"Nah, this just looked more fun out of all of them."
I looked at the shooting station in front of me. The shooting dummy looked like a zombie, and there was a slim crate that had question marks on it.
"What does this do?" I asked while pointing at the box.
"Just push the top lightly and it should open."
He went back to doing what he was doing before.
I lightly pushed the box cover in, and it sprung out. Then what seemed to look like matter (you know, the pure matter things that movies show) just floated out of the box. I started to see a bunch of guns flash in and out. This kept on going for five seconds until a shotgun appeared.
"Nice," Anklebreaker said, "The Haymaker is the best gun in the game."
"The Hay-what?" I asked.
"The Haymaker, try it out."
I grabbed the Haymaker, aimed at one of the targets, and shot one of the targets. It didn't seem special.
"I don't see what's so special about this gun." I said.
"You'll see what's so special about it when the game starts. I opened the box and put the Haymaker back in it. Next to the box, I found different types of grenades, and a toy monkey.
"What's the toy monkey for? Are there little kids here?"
"You'll see, and no."
He sounded a little annoyed, so I just kept my mouth shut.
I walked around a little more until I found a couple of pods that were separated from the other pods. On them, they said "Training Simulation." That reminded me of something. I went to my pod and got my milkshake. I examined it first before I drank it. It looked like there wasn't anything wrong with it, but I wouldn't know until I drank it, so I did. Nothing was wrong with it except it wasn't as cold. I drank the whole thing and threw my cup away, like a responsible person. I went to one of the "Training Pods" and started it. I spawned in some ruins of a factory. I looked around. There were a lot of holes in the walls. Some of them were barricaded. All of a sudden, a screen popped up in front of my face. On the left side, I saw my name, and the number 500. Under it, I saw 8/32. What do the numbers mean? Without noticing myself, I pulled out a pistol. "Where did it come from?" I thought. A tally mark appeared on the right. I tried to wave screen away, but there was nothing there. I saw things from a screen, but there was no screen. I felt my head to see if I was wearing a helmet, and sure enough, I was. It was like a Master Chief helmet. I looked around again and saw one of the barricades were disappearing. I went to it to check it out. There was nothing there. Suddenly, a zombie popped out from the other side of the barricades, and scared me so much that I fell. I dropped my pistol like the clumsy person I am near the barricade, which was, by now, non-existant. The zombie climbed through the hole and was the only thing separating me and my pistol. When it was close enough, I tripped the zombie and jumped over it to get to my pistol. I shot it a couple times in the chest and it stopped moving. I stopped and stared at it. It had shredded clothes and was missing some fingers. I turned around and suddenly, I got grabbed by another zombie with some other zombies behind me. They put me in the middle of their little group and started clawing at me. This kept on happening until I finally died.
I was in the pod again. I took off everything and got out of it. I was walking back to the shooting range when I heard,
"Attention all Apocalypse Participants! Please go to a pod! The Apocalypse Games will start in one minute! I repeat, one minute!"
