~Rob's POV~

I call it a curse.

Everyone says its a huge honor to become Notch's personal guard.

I say otherwise.

I had to leave behind my family, friends, and most importantly; Preston.

We were 18 years old when I confessed my love to him. Now, at age 20, I was forced to become Notch's guard. I had no say in the matter.

Both me and Preston were devastated. I was moved to the Aether could not see Preston.

So Notch allowed us to see each other. For one night every year I would be sent to the over world to see him. But as soon as daylight hit my skin, I was transported back to the Aether; to wait another year.

But this year was different.

"Ah! Rob. Come in. I have news for you." Notch said as I walked into his private study.

"What news do you have sir?" I asked, pulling off my diamond helmet and running a hand through my dark brown hair.

"It's not good news if that was what you were hoping for." Notch said, lowering his head. "Herobrines attacking the Aether. To protect the citizens, we must close all passages into, and out of the Aether. Until Herobrine has been dealt with, no one will be able to leave. Not even you."

"B-b-but, that means...."

"You might not see Preston again." Notch said, cutting me off.

I put a hand to my mouth as I held in a sob. Tears streamed down my face as I looked at Notch.

"Do I at least get to see him one more time?" I asked.

"Yes. Tonight will be your final night. Do you wish for me to tell him?" Notch asked, standing up and walking over to place a hand on my shoulder.

"No. I should be the one to tell him." I said, wiping my eyes.

"Of course. Are you ready?" Notch asked.

"Yes. I am."

Notch nodded as his hands glowed white. The same colored mist surrounded me as I closed my eyes. A 'whoosh' was heard before I opened my eyes again.

It was just barely turning dusk as I looked around at the flower field just behind Preston's house. I smiled slightly once I saw the house in the distance; with a figure dancing in one of the lit up windows.

I smiled I as walked towards the house; my hair waving in the wind. 

I walked up to the house and quietly opened the door. I tiptoed into the living room to find Preston dancing and humming along to a song on the radio. 

*Play Song*

I crept up behind Preston as another song came on and grabbed his hands; scaring him slightly. He relaxed once he saw it was me and began to sway his hips along with the music. I followed along and began to twirl Preston around.

He laughed as we danced around his living room; twirling each other around. I kissed his nose, causing him to giggle.

As the song ended, I picked Preston up; causing him to wrap his legs around my waist. Preston placed his lips on mine as I held onto Preston. I kissed back immediately and smiled into the kiss slightly.

We eventually parted; breathing heavily.

"You're here early Robbie." Preston chuckled, hugging my neck.

"Preston. I have bad news." I said, placing Preston on the couch; sitting next to him.

"What's wrong Rob?" Preston asked as he grabbed my hand and held it tight.

"Herobrines been attacking the Aether. Notch thinks it's best if we close all passageways to the Aether. He s-s-said this m-m-might be the l-l-last time we....." I began to cry midway through the sentence; causing Preston to get the idea.

"I....I don't know what to say Rob." Preston said as he pulled me into a hug. 

I cried into his shoulder quietly as his silent tears hit my head.

"Well. If this is our last night. Then we should make the most of it." Preston said, standing up; pulling me along with him.

~3rd Person POV~

"What did you have in mind?" Rob asked as Preston pulled him out the door.

"It's a surprise!" Preston said as he pulled off his tie and wrapped it around Rob's eyes.

Preston pulled Rob down the cobblestone path. As they went, Preston pulled out his communicator and sent a message to the other members of the Pack.

Tbnrfrags~ Guys! This might be the last time we see Rob! There's a problem in the Aether and Rob is being kept there for no one knows how long! Meet us at the pier!

Preston smiled as he put his communicator in his pocket and grabbed Rob's hand. Rob turned his head towards Preston's direction and smiled.

"Are we there yet?" Rob asked.

"Not yet. You'll know it when you hear it." Preston said as the grew closer and closer to their destination.

A few minutes later, the sounds of laughter and carnival music filled the lover's ears; causing Rob to gasp.

"The fairs in town!?" He exclaimed happily as Preston stopped him in front of their friends.

"Yep. And that's not all!"Preston said as he pulled off the tie; allowing the group to yell surprise.

Rob laughed quietly as he pulled everyone into a hug.

"It's so good to see you guys again." Rob whispered as tears ran down his face.

Everyone pulled apart and smiled at Rob as Preston wiped the tears from his face.

"What are you guys doing here?" Rob asked once Preston pulled away.

"Preston told us what was happening. So we all agreed to meet here and give you the best night." Lachlan explained, throwing an arm around Vikk.

"Thank you guys. Now let's go!" Rob exclaimed happily.

The guys followed after the excited Rob as he ran into the fair. The group walked around the pier; causing banter, laughing, and sharing stories of what happened throughout the year. After eating, the group went to play some of the games; each winning something for their lover. Vikk got Lachlan a red and diamond necklace while Lachlan got Vikk a warm sweater. Mitch got Jerome a diamond axe necklace while Jerome got Mitch a bacca plush. Rob got Preston a wolf plush while Preston gave Rob a lava themed bandanna. 

The group went on many rides; saving the Ferris wheel for last. 

The Pack cheered as Preston and Rob shared a kiss; fire works exploding both metaphorically and literally. Lights of blue, red, yellow, white, and green exploded in the sky; creating different kinds of shapes.

After the ride, Preston grew tired. Rob picked him up and carried him on his back; allowing him to fall asleep. The group traveled back to Preston's house and crashed in the living room; all except for Rob.

Rob sat on the couch with Preston's head in his lap, watching as his friends slept.

"Here I am waiting. I'll have to leave soon Why am I.... Holding on." Rob began to sing. "We knew this day would come. We knew it all along. How did it, come so fast? This is our, last night. But it's late and I'm trying not to sleep. 'Cause I know, when I wake, I will have to slip away."

The group began to wake up as Rob continued to sing. 

"And when the daylight, comes I'll have to go. But tonight I'm gonna hold you so close. 'Cause in the daylight, we'll be on our own. But tonight I need to hold you so close."

Preston jumped up from his position and hugged Rob as sobs racked his body. Rob hugged back tightly as the others soon joined in. Everyone eventually pulled away with tears streaming down their faces. The group watched with sad looks on their faces as the sun filtered through the windows and hit Rob's skin.

Rob's arm began to fade away as he looked at the group with tears in his eyes. Rob walked over to Preston and pulled him into a long, passionate kiss. As they pulled away, Preston looked at Rob's fading face as Rob murmured:

"When the daylight, comes I'll have to go."

I think I actually like this version better than the original. But yeah, I finally got it done!
