One Year Ago...

Minewood Pines... A beautiful pristine paradise in the mountains...

By day, it is a lovely relaxing heaven of snow. A place where you can ski, snowboard and hike in peace...

But at night... That is a whole different story....

A blizzard had taken the mountainside on this particular night, and hidden within the vast mountainside was a small ski lodge where 10 friends resided.

A hooded figure watched the ski lodge from afar, his eyes narrowing as he observed, before he silently turned and trudged back into the trees the way he had come.

He had a job to do tonight and it needed to be done before dawn...

"Damm Mitch... I'm surprised you managed to sneak that into the kitchen without him noticing!" Jerome laughed, slapping his friend playfully on the back.

Mitch chuckled "It's all in the escape..." He said back to the Baka and looking at his friends.

Ty frowned and looked at the group "Don't you guys think this is a little bit cruel?"

Quentin shrugged "Hey, we've done it before to Jerome and Jason. They were fine with it when they found out..."

Ty glared "Yeah, and both times, Seto wasn't involved and wasn't the target... You guys know he can be sensitive."

Mitch smirked "Hey, when one of us starts to neglect the team. We gotta remind them why they joined in the first place."

"He's a sorcerer! He spends his time in the library learning spells, how is this fair?"

"He blew us off three times already with that excuse! It's time for some payback!"

Ty just sighed and shook his head turning to Tyler and saying "Come on Tyler! You're not even on Team Crafted! Why would you want to go through with this?!"

Tyler just smiled and shrugged "I think it'll be fun."

"Adam?" Ty asked him, his tone plead with him to agree with him.

Adam just shrugged "I see nothing wrong with just one prank..."

Ty growled in frustration and left, heading to other side of the lodge and beginning to call out. "Seto? Seto where are you?"

He had to find the sorcerer, he had a bad feeling that this wouldn't end well at all.

Brice shivered slightly as he sat curled up on the couch, sketching a picture of the horizon he had seen several hours ago on the mountainside.

He looked up when he heard muttering, causing the artist to look at the couch opposite to see Jason curled up on it, snoring softly and his helmet lying on the coffee table between them.

Brice smiled and stood up, grabbing a blanket from a small pile of them on a chair and lying it over the spaceman.

He then turned and saw another person in the kitchen, passed out on the bench. Ian.

Brice went over to his friend looked at him with a smirk, noticing a beer bottle in his hand.

He reached out and picked the bottle up, turning and reading the label on it and whistling.

"Wow Ian..." Brice said out loud with a laugh, patting him on the back and tossing the empty bottle in the bin. "You my friend, have out done yourself..."

The only reply from Ian was a snore.

Brice sighed and shook his head, walking further into the kitchen and starting to put the messy bench back into some sort of order.

He stopped when he noticed a small pice of paper folded on the bench. He picked it it and unfolded it, frowning as he read it.

'Seto, We need to talk. Meet me in my room at 2 am. Adam.'

Brice sighed and shook his head "Seto, what have you gotten yourself into now?" He muttered out loud as he threw the paper in the bin.

~~~
As the five pranksters gathered in Adam's room, they laughed and chatted until they heard footsteps and Jerome hissed "He's coming!"
Everyone, except Adam ran to their hiding spots. Mitch and Jerome rolled under the bed, Quentin hid in the closet and Tyler behind the curtains.
Adam just leaned on the bed as the door opened to reveal Seto, holding a small candle "Adam?"
Adam looked up at the sorcerer and, hiding his smile well, nodded grimly "Hey Seto."
Seto put the candle on the bedside table and looked at Adam "So what's this all about?"
"Seto? It's been decided... We need to kick you out of Team Crafted... "
Seto stopped and stared "What?"
"We all voted and well, you haven't been very loyal to the team..."
"But- but I have I've just been a bit busy is all."
"I'm sorry Seto, but it's been decided."
"Please don't do this..." Seto pleaded, tears threatening to fall down his face.
"Wow! He actually believes it!" Mitch laughed, causing everyone else to laugh and Seto to jump back in surprise.
"Wh- What? What's going on?" He said looking around in shock and betrayal as everyone came out, Tyler even with a video camera and filming in the whole thing.
"Seto!" Ty cried out as he barged into the room, his face falling as he realised he was too late to warn his friend.
Seto just looked at them all, a hurt look on his face before he turned and ran out of the room, slamming the door.
Ty frowned and turned to his friends in anger and said "You guys are real jerks. You know that?" He growled before running after the sorcerer.
~~~

Brice had begun to pick up and put several dishes that we're lying around in the sink when he looked up and frowned, noticing a figure rush outside from the window, head in their hands.

"What the?" He asked out loud before rushing over to Ian.

"Ian? Ian! There's someone outside! Wake up you idiot!" He hissed, shaking the passed out boy to try and wake him, but to no avail.

Groaning, he left him and ran through the door leading to the foyer, calling out "Guys? There's someone outside!" He then stopped and frowned as Ty ran down the stairs into the foyer and towards the front door, shoving it open and running outside, the rest of the group following close behind.

"Seto?" Ty yelled out "Seto! Come back!"

Mitch came out next to him and yelled out as well, his voice having a slight mocking tone to it "Come on Seto. Can't you take a joke?"

"It was just a prank!" Quentin called out as well as the group came out.

The group then parted as Brice shove himself though, he had his backpack with him and was zipping up in a black and gold parka as he glared at the group. "What happened? Where's Seto going?" He demanded.

Adam scratched the back of his neck and didn't meet his eyes "It was meant to be a harmless prank..." He muttered.

Brice's eyes widened as he stared at the group "And you all went through with this?!"

Tyler put his hands up in defence and said "Hey, it was Mitch's idea."

Mitch rolled his eyes at Tyler "Thanks for ratting me out..." He muttered before looking at Brice and shrugging "It's not our fault he can't take a joke."

Brice glared at the Canadian, his body starting to shake from rage.

"You guys are Jerks!" He yelled as he turned and ran into the bitter weather, quickly disappearing into the storm as he ran after the sorcerer.

Adam sighed and began to go after Brice and help but Ty stood in front of him and shook his head "We're the last people he'd want to talk to right now and I don't fucking blame him." He growled coldly, storming past the group and heading back into the lodge.

Slowly, the rest of the group trickled back inside, Adam being the last, leaving the door unlocked so Brice and Seto could get back inside.

~~~
Brice shivered as he trudged through the bitter wind, his eyes straining to see through the gale. He had no idea how long he'd be outside. Hours? Minutes? He couldn't tell, it was too dark to check his watch.
Darkness... I need light...
Thankful he had thought ahead, he reached into his pack and pulled out a torch. It didn't do much about the cold, but it managed to stay lit in the wind and provided at least a little bit of a comforting light in the unyielding darkness.
Holding the torch tightly in one hand and pulling his parka closer to his body with the other he kept moving forward, following the barely visible footprints that he hoped belonged to Seto, calling out out to him every so often.
"Seto?!" He called out, his voice echoing through the woods before vanishing with the wind. "Seto! It's Brice! Please come out! Where are you?!"
There was no answer, but that didn't deter the artist.
He soon stopped as the pathway divided into two, both looking almost identical except the left side had footprints marked in the snow.
He looked down both paths, and as he did, he realised he could hear the sound of running coming from the right path.
He panted, trying to decide before he finally decided to go with his instincts, and setting down the left path after the footprints.
As he walked, he noticed a bright orange fire leap up before vanishing "The nether was that?" He asked out loud before continuing on, whatever it was, he didn't want to stick around to know.
He soon stopped abruptly again as he noticed three large deer in his way. Who cried out when they noticed him and charged out of the way and back into the shadows of the woods.
Brice shook his head and kept walking, the storm seemed to be growing worse by the minute "Come on Seto?! Where did you go?!" He hissed.
Finally, he stumbled into a small clearing, were a familiar cloaked figure sat hunched by the edge of it, shivering.
Seto...
Brice's eyes widened as he ran towards the sorcerer, stopping and kneeling in front of him "Oh Notch Seto! You must be freezing!" He cried, dropping his pack and taking off his parka, wrapping it around him. "Here, take this."
Seto gave a grateful smile, but he still looked heartbroken.
"Thanks..." He said, getting to his feet and shaking his head "Notch Brice. I feel like such an idiot."
"You're not, trust me." He said, giving a warm smile and a quick hug. "Come on, let's get back. I don't think either of us want to freeze to death tonight..."
Seto smiled slightly and opened his mouth to reply when he was cut off by the sound of a demonic roar.
"Skccccceeaaach!!!!!"
The two boys immediately looked around wildly, Brice shining his torch until the wind seemed to lash out stronger and blow it out.
"Brice? What was that?" Seto asked worriedly.
Brice swore and tossed the now useless torch to the side and picked up his pack. "I don't know!" Without his parka on, the artist was starting to shiver slightly but his eyes remained wide and alert, searched the shadows of the trees for any possible movement.
Seto looked around with worry and tried to summon a small ball of light to help see but his shaking fingers merely spluttered a few light purple sparks, causing the sorcerer to gasp in shock.
Without his torch, the darkness seemed to grow, along with the cold, making it hard to see or move.
Finally, the two noticed something down the way Brice had come. Two bright purple eyes watching them from the shadows.
"Brice?" Seto asked, fear rising in the two of them.
"Skccccceeaaach!!!!!"
"Run... Run!" Brice yelled grabbing the sorcerer's hand and pulling him along as the two began to sprint away from the creature stalking them, weaving through the trees as best as they could.
The two then came to an old roofed bridge, expanding over a small river. The two ran through until one floorboard snapped under Seto's weight, sending him falling forward and hitting the wood with a cry.
Brice immediately turned back and helped pull him up and continuing to run with him, his phone unknowingly slipping out of his pocket and falling between the floorboards where it cracked on several rocks below.
The two kept running as fat as they could, until the woods parted to reveal the edge of a cliff. Both boys skidded to a stop at the edge, looking over to hope it wasn't too high, stepping away when they realised that they couldn't even see the bottom from all the snow and wind.
"Skccccceeaaach!!!!!"
Both boys turned back towards the woods, they couldn't see the monster stalking them, but they knew it was coming.
They were trapped.
"Can you use your magic?" He asked.
Seto shook with fear "No, I tried it before, there's something interfering with it..." He said, causing Brice to swear.
"I don't want to die Brice..." Seto whimpered.
Brice looked at Seto and grabbed his hand, trying to reassure him "We'll get through this..." He said, but his tone clearly showed he didn't believe that.
As the screeching became louder, the boys continued to back away towards the very edge of the cliff.
Seto then screamed as his foot slipped on ice and he fell back over the edge. Brice still refused to let go and screamed as he too was taken over the edge, his free hand flailing out and managing to latch onto a small branch growing out over the edge.
Brice looked down to see Seto holding onto his hand for dear life "Don't let go!" He yelled to him, to which Seto nodded.
Brice looked up to try and see if he could hoist his way up when he stopped, watching in shock as the same bright orange flame curled out from above along with an even louder screech.
Seto and Brice then gasped in shock as a large hooded figure looked over the edge and at them, extending a hand down towards Brice.
He could try to reach him, but that would mean he'd have to let go of Seto.
Brice looked down at Seto with wide eyes before they hardened and he looked up at the man, still reaching out to him.
Brice had made up his mind, so screwing his eyes shut, he let go of the branch, leaving the two to fall, screaming.
Brice came to land on a pile of jagged rocks, his back slamming into one and instantly snapping it, blood splurging out as his now lifeless body fell limply off the rocks and continued to tumble until his landed next to Seto's equally limp body. Their now blank eyes staring into the darkness of the cave that surrounded them.
