Once Lost, Now Found (Olivia)

"Rumors, spread like wildfire. I held a strong ground. But I've been burning down cause it's like, fire, is all I hear about. And we are fading now. Don't wanna turn out the light, but it's like, I'm no firefighter, I just need to breathe tonight..."
Olivia hummed to herself as she worked on her latest redstone masterpiece: a multi-level arrow cannon. She wanted to create a defense mechanism for the town.

That and she was bored out of her mind. Plus, she likes to sing while she worked.

"So sound the alarm and there goes the night. Oh-oh, our love is running into a burning building. Oh-oh, our love is scattered ash with a-- Argh, slime balls! I'm out of redstone!"
Olivia's eyes widened and she pulled out her earbuds when she realized what she said.

"I've been hanging out with Petra for too long..."
She sighed, pausing her song. The Redstone Engineer informed her friends she was heading out to go mining and left with an iron pickaxe, her bow, some arrows and a few other supplies. She strolled to a nearby cave not too far from town. Olivia looked at her watch. Noon.

"I don't have much time, but enough. I should be back before nightfall."
She murmured to herself. Olivia hopped down the cave. It felt like decades had passed when she finally found some redstone ore.

"Bout time!"
She cheered a bit too loudly. Because a creeper, well, crept up behind her and started hissing.

"CREEPER!"
Olivia yelped and hopped to the side as she tried to dodge it.

Too late. The creeper exploded.

Olivia went flying backwards towards an underground cliff. The pig-tailed intellect just barely clasped onto the ledge before she could fall. Looking down below her, she caught a glimpse of a lava river that could bake her alive if she slipped.

"Oh geez!! OH GEEZ OH GEEZ OH GEE-- WAGH!!"
Olivia felt a weirdly squishy hand pull her up. She couldn't see it soon enough as it tripped and practically launched her into a 2-block deep puddle. The goggle girl hoisted herself out and finally managed to catch her breath.

"Thanks... I would've... Been... Roasted... If you--"
Olivia started but her dull gray eyes widened. A zombie stood right in front of her but something about it ceased her urge to scream that she touched and was saved by a zombie.

There was a clump of h/c hair on its head.

"What the... T-That's not a normal--"

WUMP!!

Olivia fainted because her brain couldn't process it all.

~Time Skip~

"Urgh... My head..."
Olivia groaned as she rubbed her head. Well, more like her helmet. She sat up, barely touched her eye and winced.

"Ow..."
She looked in the puddle she fell in before and gasped. Her eye was purplish-blue, nearly black, and swollen.

Before she had time to react, Olivia felt something squishy on her shoulder. A hand. She shrieked and jumped to her feet. The same zombie with the clump of h/c hair from before was standing right in front of her. But Olivia, more confused then scared, noticed it didn't even attempt to attack her.

It just stared at her, like it was expecting her to say something.

"Um... Hi(?)"
Olivia awkwardly greeted. The zombie, surprisingly, lifted its hand up and down like it was waving. This time she was amazed.

"Whoa..."
The zombie jerked its head towards a tunnel dimly illuminated by the lava river's glow. Olivia looked back at the zombie.

"You... Want me... to follow you down that tunnel?"

The zombie nodded and started trudging in, arms not reaching out like most zombies. Olivia thought for a bit but reluctantly followed. For a few minutes, the zombie led Olivia through twists and turns, ups and downs, over ledges and under hangings.

Eventually, they came to a small 3 x 3 room. To the right was a pool of lava that seemed to go on for infinity. Olivia was confused until she saw the zombie writing something on the opposite wall in mud.

Now she was shocked. A zombie smart enough to write? Something seemed off. The zombie took a few steps back to show her what it wrote.

"'Y/m/n'? Who's Y/m/n?"
Olivia asked. The zombie lifted its hand... And pointed to itself. Her jaw dropped.

"You're Y/m/n?! Wait, you're a she?"
She blinked. The zombie nodded, then wrote something else underneath.

"'Y/n'? Is she your sister or something?"
Olivia's mind was swirling with confusion. The zombie pointed to a basket then limped next to the lava pool. Her instincts said "Olivia, it's a trap!" But her heart said "You're here for an important reason." She walked over to the basket, brushing aside some f/c sheets.

"A baby..."
Olivia gasped. The baby, you, had e/c irises gleaming with joy like diamonds as you giggled and messy hair. But that's not why she gasped.

She gasped because you had a fuzzy bunch of h/c hair like the zombie!

"Is this your daughter?!"
Olivia gaped at the zombie as it nodded again.

"W-What-- What do y-you want me to d-do?!"
She stammered. The zombie stared at Olivia with an endless-pit-like gaze. What happened nearly made her head explode.

"L-Lo...ve... He....r..."
It moaned out. And with that, the zombie stretched out its arms and fell backwards into the bubbling lava. Her jaw would've fallen off right there and then if it was possible.

"A mother... becoming a zombie... and trusting some random stranger with her child?! WHAT ON EARTH--"
Olivia stopped short when you yawned and reached up to her. She slowly picked you up. Rocking you to sleep, you snuggled happily into her chest. Olivia felt a new emotion that she never felt before.

A mother's love for her baby.

Olivia rose to her feet and started following the torches she placed to keep from getting lost. When she reached the surface, the sun was starting to set. She had made it out just in time.

"Well, I guess I'll have to get some redstone dust tomorrow. I gotta get child care supplies..."
Olivia shrugged and walked back to town. She knew she was going to do what the zombie-- Er, Y/m/n told her to do. Love you. After all...

Mother knows best.

Man, I had a huge creativity burst! And it took forever to get it down! ...That "mother knows best" part seemed creepy... ^_^' Real quick before I end this chapter, for those who are new to daughter scenarios, Y/m/n stands for "your mother's name."
