CRASH!

I jolted awake at the sound of a garbage can being knocked over. It was coming from the back of my house. I slowly got out of my bed and walked across the spruce wood planks floor to my window. My bedroom was on the second floor of my house, so I was able to see above the forest, and all of my backyard.

The night was dark, but I had a torch on the back of my house. I looked down, my reddish-brown eyes darting across the grassy area. The garbage can by my backdoor was knocked over, leftovers and paper spilling out. I groaned. Some mob probably somehow got over my hedge and knocked it over. Most likely a spider. Hopefully not a creeper.

I walked to my door, grabbing my diamond sword off of the armor stand. I didn't use it often, only to defend others. But occasionally, pests get in and I have to deal with them.

Walking down the stairs, I heard a thud on the wall. Again, from the back.

I walked across the living room, and opened the door. The night air was crisp. A light breeze ruffled my flaming orange hair slightly.

There was no sight of any mob. No sound either. Nothing.

I walked over to the garbage can and used my sword to shove everything inside. I put it upright and surveyed the area one last time before shrugging and heading back inside.

As I shut the door behind me, I heard another sound. It sounded like someone from the kitchen. Did the monster get into my house?

I crept carefully near the entrance. Then, I jumped out in front and gripped my sword.

It wasn't a mob.

It was a dude. A guy about my age (14). He had light brown hair (or dirty blond, your call) and brown eyes. He had on a dark gray hoodie with a red dragon on it, and dark blue jeans. At his current state, he was leaning back on a chair, legs up on my table and an apple in his hand.

"Sup." He took a bite.

Immediately, I recognized him. He was this guy named Todd that hung around the town not too far away. I never really spoke to him ever since he came to it about a year ago, but he was always mysterious, never around people and always kept to himself.

"You." I narrowed my eyes. "What are you doing here? And why are you stealing my food?"

"Sorry." He tossed me the half eaten apple. I wrinkled my nose (shh they have little rectangle noses) in disgust and dropped the fruit in the trash can. "But I need your help. I heard you're a pretty good fighter."

"Y-yeah." I frowned. "Only to defend people though."

He grinned. "You'll be protecting a lot of people."

"Where is this going?" I walked over and shoved his feet off the table.

He looked upset at my action, but clapped his hands together once. "Okay, so there's these two mobs that I need you to kill."

I scowled. "That's it?"

He shrugged. "More or less."

"Why can't you do it?" I was pretty lazy at the moment. And tired.

"I am a simple miner. You're good at pvp. I don't want to die. You won't." In other words, he was lazy.

"There has to be some twist. What kind of mobs?"

"A skeleton and a creeper."

"Ew. I hate creepers."

"I hate skeletons to be honest."

"Again. Why can't you do this yourself?"

"Because I'm just a miner. A weak sonuvabirch." He waved his arms. "Look at these noodle arms."

I pondered it. Could it be a trap? He seemed harmless, besides breaking into my house and eating some of my food.

But hey, how hard can killing two mobs be?

~ Todd's PoV ~

"You didn't tell me they were mutant mobs!" Thomas whisper-yelled to me.

I gave a shrug with a one sided smile. "They are technically mobs."

We were down in the mines. Along the way to where we were now, I explained to him that I was mining when I accidentally broke into another cave and saw the two mobs.

"They were, like, conspiring about destroying the town. I didn't understand much, with all the hissing and bones clanging, but something about a sacrifice to... Him."

"Who?" Thomas asked as we jumped down a few blocks. "Herobrine?"

I hit him lightly on the shoulder. "Don't say his name! Brings bad luck."

Yes, I believe in that stuff. Don't judge me. I'm a weenie (yeah I just did that).

"Pssh. All that stuff is ridiculous. Except the myths about hackers."

"I don't know about that."

Now we were crouched behind some stone blocks. In front of us was a circular room with tnt covered against the walls. In the middle were two giant mobs. A large skeleton with a crossbow in his hand, and a creeper with four long legs.

The mutant skeleton, and mutant creeper.

"Ew." Thomas said.

"I know right." I replied.

"Same."

The two mobs started conversing, but they were too far away to hear.

"Imma get closer." Thomas whispered, and started walking to the left, crouching.

"No...!" I hissed, but he didn't listen to me. I was scared he was going to get caught.

Wait. He had a black T on the back of his red shirt. I had a green T on the back of my hoodie. I understood that both of our names started with a T, but that's pretty weird.

Nevertheless, I got out my iron sword and followed him the best he could.

We got to another cluster of stone blocks, but it was so low that we had to practically lay down. I was way closer to Thomas than I would've liked to be.

"My arm hurts." He whined. He was laying on his left arm.

I gave him the worst look I could, telling him silently to shut up.

"Will this be enough tnt?" A hissing voice said.

"Should be." A gravelly voice replied. "If we place them in the right places. But how can we get into the town undetected?"

"Who said anything about going in silently?" The creeper chuckled, which sounded like someone letting air out of a tire. "The creepers will listen to me. The skeletons will listen to you. We need to put our power to good use."

"Hmmm..." The skeleton contemplated it.

"What is there to think about? We need to summon the dark master. This will be enough."

It nodded. "Very well. We will round up our fellow species for the rest of tonight, and attack tomorrow at midnight."

"We have to stop them." I said. "Go poke them with your sword."

"Are you crazy?!" He whisper-yelled.

"Yes. What's your point?"

"True." He looked down. Then, he shook his head quickly. "Absolutely not."

"Come oooon. This is why you came along."

"I came to kill two simple mobs, not to commit suicide!"

"See, you aren't having faith in yourself." I tutted. "You gotta believe in yourself."

"He's right." A different voice said. "That's half of the way."

"Yeah." I agreed. "See what he sai— wait what?"

We both looked up to see the skeleton and creeper mutants staring down at us.

"Hehe." Both Thomas and I chuckled nervously.

"Bye!" I yelled. We both hopped up and ran away.

Loud steps made me know that they were chasing us.

"Come back here so we can obliterate you slowly!" The creeper hissed.

Thomas winced. "And you think skeletons are worse?!"

"Your corpses will decorate our walls!" The mutant skeleton roared.

I jumped over a block and ran up the steep path. "Yep!"

~ Thomas's PoV ~

We kept running. The cave seemed to be shorter on the way in; now it felt like we've been going forever. It's weird, I thought it was the other way around. The ride to your destination is longer than the ride back. Huh. Guess it's different when you're running for your life.

Following Todd, I turned a left. Now that I was behind him, I noticed he had a green T on the back of his hoodie. I had a black one on the back of my shirt.  It was weird, but I went with it.

"Over here!" Todd turned around, grabbed my hand ( ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) wait ew that face), and yanked me to the left. He hurled himself through a one block gap in the wall, barely noticeable. I rolled my eyes and jumped in after him.

As I fell, I turned downward so I went in a somersault and landed on my knees.

"Ew, flexibility." Todd said with disgust.

"I know right." I turned around and looked through the hole. The mobs ran right past us. I sighed and slid down the wall. "Phew. How'd you know about this?"

"I mine often. I know most of the secrets in the caves around here."

"Noice."

After a little bit, I looked out again. The mobs were coming back, looking mad (actually creepers usually look that way). I quickly yanked my head back inside.

The creeper mutant hissed. "I can't believe we let them get away."

"They're going to expose our plans." The skeleton growled. "We'll need to strike sooner."

"To later tonight? That may be too soon."

"We don't have a choice. We'll gather as many monsters as we can, and attack at sunrise."

"Very well."

They continued to talk, but they were too out of range for me to understand. Soon, I couldn't hear them at all.

"What now?" Todd asked behind me. I turned and saw him kick a rock.

I hesitated, taking a deep breath. I didn't realize how much I was sweating. We were in this so deep so quickly, I barely knew Todd. I never even spoke to him until about an hour ago. Nevertheless, we were in this together and we had to make it right.

"We need to warn the village."

I was tempted to be creative and make this a cliffhanger (not because I was running out of time or anything), but nah.

~ Todd's PoV ~

"Can't... Go... Further..." I gasped for breath.

"Why... So... Many... Stairs...?" Thomas made out from behind me.

We were climbing up the stairs in the bell tower. It was so tall, and no elevator.

"Almost... there." I dragged myself up the last few steps, then collapsed at the top. Thomas made it up and collapsed next to me.

I closed my eyes and pretended that this was just a dream, and I could sleep.

"We should... probably warn the town that they're about to die." He reminded me.

I sighed. "Sigh. But why though."

"They're like, innocent people I guess. Plus they have a great cookie store."

I jerked my head up. "Cookies?! We MuSt SaVe ThEm!"

I jumped up and ran toward the giant bell. I looked around but there was no stick to hit it with. Sighing again, I got out my sword and rang the bell. It was louder than I expected, and I flinched from the sound.

"AGHHH!" Thomas covered his ears. "KANYE NOT?!"

All over the large town, people started turning on their lights inside. They also started to walk outside. Soon, a small crowd started to gather.

"What is the meaning of this?!" A guy shouted. Most people yelled in agreement.

"I wanna sleep!"

"You tricksters are gonna get it!"

"Banana!"

"Everyone!" I walked up to the front. "Listen! You're all in danger!"

"What do you mean!"

"There is a mutant skeleton and a mutant creeper coming to destroy this town!" I ignored the booing. "I saw them myself! They plan on leading an army here and blowing it to smithereens with tnt at sunrise!"

"Why should we believe you?" Someone crossed their arms.

"I can personally vouch for him." Thomas put his hand on my shoulder. "I saw it myself. They plan to use the act to summon Herobrine."

Some gasps, and a scream in horror.

I winced. "Yeah what he said."

The townspeople started to argue amongst each other.

"I doubt it's gonna happen."

"What if it does?"

"We could all be in danger!"

"And if it's a trick?!"

"We can't take the chances!"

"Okay okay, listen!" I shouted.

They wouldn't stop.

I sighed for like the third time and grabbed my sword. I rang the bell one more time to shut everyone up. It worked.

"Dude, you gotta warn me next time." Thomas said.

"Everyone!" I got their attention again. "If you don't wish to help save your town, go ahead and go back to sleep and pray you don't die. If you do want to help, you will stay and get ready for the attack!"

Some people went back to their houses, but most stayed. Luckily, they were all young adults, so I didn't feel as bad for sacrificing their lives.

Dang. I'm harsh.

"Man, I don't wanna go down those steps again." Thomas looked down.

"Same." I groaned. "But we have to."

"Can we slide down the railing?"

"And risk falling to our death? Sure."

~ 3rd person PoV ~

The battle did indeed come at sunrise. But the town was ready. The officials did believe them, and escorted the kids, elderly, and losers to the underground bunker.

The rest of them were positioned all over the town. They didn't know where the mobs would come from, so they had eight large groups surrounding the town.

This part is too long to explain so blah blah blah, we waited and blah blah blah.

"Over here!" Todd shouted. He adjusted his iron chestplate (they all got full iron swag).

There was an army of almost one hundred mobs coming. It was a random mixture of creepers and skeletons, all heading in one giant group toward the town, with the mutant creeper in front. There was no wall or anything to protect it, so the town needed to cut them off before they made it there.

Someone from the duo's section blew a horn to warn the other groups.

"Let's go." Thomas drew his sword.

Todd stopped him from going further. "Wait. I can't see the mutant skeleton."

Another horn was blown from the other side of town.

There were two armies coming from opposite sides.

"I'm sure they can handle it over there." Thomas said.

With an unrehearsed large battle cry, the town's army charged at the mutant creeper's army. They finally met and clashed. Explosions went off. Arrows flew. Swords swung. The whole thing was a giant mess really.

Over on the other side, the same thing was happening. Only, the mutant skeleton's army was somehow pushing through and getting closer to the town.

Thomas and Todd were a great team though. They kept together through the whole thing and demolished. It was like they knew what the other one was going to do before they did it. One ducked while the other swung their swung. One crouched while the other jumped over them and sliced a mob. One had to take a break because they were feeling tired while the other facepalmed (guess who was who). It was quite a sight.

As the creeper's mob count diminished, Thomas climbed a tree. He looked at the other side of town, and his face fell. They made it inside the town. People were screaming, houses were being blown up. The armies still clashed, but suicidal creepers made it messy. Thomas could see the mutant skeleton make it through the crowd and plant tnt everywhere.

Thomas jumped down just in time to kill a creeper that was sneaking up on Todd.

"Thanks." Todd said.

"They need help over there. The army made it through and the skeleton is going to blow the roof off of this place any moment."

"There's not any roof over the town in the first place though."

"You know what I mean!" Thomas said, exasperated.

"I'll go over there." Todd swallowed.

"I thought you hated skeletons?" He asked.

He shrugged. "I'd enjoy killing one."

"Unless it kills you."

"Okay, we seriously need to have a talk about your faith when I get back." Todd ran into the town.

As the fine narrator of this story, I shall skip to the awesome parts where the cool battles begin.

Thomas jumped over a creeper and stabbed it in the back. As it fizzled away, he saw the mutant creeper run (wait can anyone even call it running?) into the town.

"Not on my watch." He growled, and ran after it.

He met up with the creeper as it started placing tnt by a house.

"Yo stupid!" Thomas yelled.

The creeper looked in his direction and hissed. "You." He charged forward.

Thomas charged as well, but did his best to stop when he saw the creeper get fatter. He started to run away and jumped behind some chests in the street as the creeper exploded. The explosion shook the ground, but he was unharmed.

He looked at the crater it created, and saw it was still alive at the bottom. The creeper hopped out of the pit and ran after Thomas. This time, before it could blow up, Thomas chucked his sword. It hit the creeper right smack-dab on its forehead, and the creeper fell back from the whiplash.

It got up again, and shook it's head until the sword came out. The blade skidded across the gravel ground on the opposite side, so the creeper was between Thomas and his sword.

"Dang it." Thomas whined.

The creeper charged again, this time trying to bash into him. Thomas just barely jumped out of the way, and ran around the crater to his sword.

He felt something yank him back, and he fell to the ground. He looked behind him and saw that the creeper had his foot in his mouth. What the heck.

The creeper spit. "I hate not having arms." Then, he grew fatter.

Thomas cried out something he didn't understand and kicked the creeper. It fell backwards into the crater.

Thomas got up, shivered, and ran over. He grabbed his sword just as the creeper jumped up again.

But this time, it jumped up right into his sword.

They both looked down at the sword stuck in the creeper's belly. Then, Thomas yanked the sword out and kicked the creeper in the crater a second time.

The creeper growled and was about to get up, but Thomas jumped down and stabbed it in the chest. The mob gave him the dirtiest look it could, and it dissolved.

Thomas laughed nervously, walked a few steps, and fell down from fright and exhaustion.

On the other side of town, Todd had a similar battle. He saw the mutant skeleton about to shoot at a running lady. Todd picked up a rock and threw it at the skeleton.

The skeleton opened it's mouth to inhale (wait), and got a rock in it's mouth instead. It clanged through his ribs and fell to the ground.

"Did anyone see that?" Todd asked in amazement. "That's like the most awesome thing I've ever done and no one saw it!"

"I saw it." The mutant skeleton grumbled and shot an arrow.

Todd jumped to the right to dodge it. "Oh right." He ran through an alleyway, and climbed the ladder to go to the roof. It got him a few blocks above the skeleton. He shot another arrow, but Todd dodged it. Todd pulled out the bow that they gave him and started shooting at him. The skeleton moved out of the way most of the time, but sometimes Todd would get a hit. However, they didn't seem to affect it. Todd knew he needed to break off it's bones somehow.

Todd jumped down to the second story balcony, took another shot, and jumped down again. The impact hurt him, but he chose to ignore the pain. Was kinda hard though.

Todd took out his pick axe, and chucked it at the mob. It easily dodged it, and looked behind to see where it landed for some reason. That gave Todd enough time to slice it's arm off.

The skeleton roared, and swung his crossbow. Todd just barely blocked it with his sword, and sliced the mutant's one leg off below the knee. The skeleton knelt down on it's other one to balance it out. Now he and Todd were the same height.

The skeleton swung it's bow again, but Todd didn't see it coming in time. He flew back, landing on his back.

He groaned and looked up. The skeleton shot an arrow, but Todd just barely rolled out of the way. He got up and blocked an arrow with his blade.

That gave Todd an idea. He waited for the next arrow. The skeleton gladly gave him one. Todd ran forward and hit the arrow with the side of his sword. It sailed through the air and stuck itself into the skeleton's forehead (:0 Tood and Thomas are twinsies). It was just like a unicorn.

As the skeleton tried to dislodge the arrow, Tood rushed forward and sliced it's head off.

"Thanks for playing." He said as the skeleton dissolved.

Todd laughed at his own puns, then sat down on the ground, his head dizzy.

~~~
Aftermathish
The town made it through the night. All the mobs were killed, Herobrine wasn't summoned, and the mutant monsters' plan failed. Although some funerals had to be held for fallen heroes, and paths and buildings needed to be rebuilt.
Todd and Thomas became best friends (ew). They hung out all the time together.
One day, they were sitting on a hill watching a few zombies burn in the sunlight (so romantic).
"Hey." Todd said. "We make a pretty good team."
"Yeah we do. We're pretty amazing." Thomas replied back.
"We should break the fourth wall and do something cool."
"How about you write a story on Wattpad?"
Todd thought about it. "Sure. And you can help, and prolly write your own."
"Yeah. And maybe we can make a YouTube channel!" Thomas exclaimed.
"What should we call it?"
As they pondered, a girl ran up to them. She had brown hair with different colored highlights, purple eyes, and a gray ninja suit on. She seemed in a rush.
"Hey! You should call it TheTwoTs Gaming!" She yelled, excited. Then, she ran off.
The two boys looked at each other, and shrugged.
"I can deal with that."
"Same."
"I know right."
"Agreed."
I ship it so much sigh
But can I remind you that the rules said this was a short story that had to be at least 500 words long, yet it's the longest chapter I've ever written.
Fingers crossed hope I win!
