The Defenders part 2

Mohammad's POV:

I slowly opened my eyes and got up. Omar and Hasan were still sleeping so I quietly made it to the blocked entrance. I mined one block as one of the mobs from yesterday roared at my face.

"AH!" I yelled jumping backwards.

The mobs burned and Omar and Hasan woke up. "What's wrong?" Omar asked.

"Nothing. A mob from yesterday scared me" I said getting up.

"Is it safe?" Asked Hasan.

"Yeah, I think they burn from the sunlight" I said mining away the blacks at the entrance.

"Now do we go back or keep moving?" Asked Hasan.

"Keep moving I guess" answered Omar stepping out of the cave.

Hasan and I followed him and saw a big tree blocking the way out of the jungle. "Do we mine threw it?" Omar asked.

"This looks like a very thick tree, don't know if our axes will handle it" I replied.

"Mohammad, examine the tree, see if there is a damaged spot we can mine through. Hasan, you check for any other way around the tree. I'll search if there's a way out through the cave. We meet back here whenever you're ready" Omar ordered.

We nodded and each went a way. I jumped to the tree and scanned it. It was a dark jungle tree, and those kinds are really hard to mine.

I searched around, above, and under it, but there wasn't any damaged place. The tree was still strong. I punched and kicked it at random places and I would just hit myself.

I sighed and jumped back down, and to where we were supposed to meet. Hasan jumped beside me and said "No way around it. We are high on a mountain, there's no way we would survive the drop"

"The tree is from the strongest trees in the world. It's a dark jungle tree. Apparently the fall didn't damage it, it just damaged the cave we were in" I said.

"Where's Omar?" Asked Hasan.

"Guys!" We heard someone yell. "Guys, come down here!" Someone yelled again.

"Omar?" Hasan asked.

"I'm guessing" I replied.

"We're coming!" He yelled.

We jumped into the mine and followed the torch pathway. "Omar!" I yelled.

"Over here!" He yelled back.

We followed the shouts and eventually found him. "What?" I asked.

"I think this is a way out" he said pointing to a tiny hallway in the wall lit up by redstone torches.

"I...I don't think this is a good idea" Hasan said.

"Why?" I asked.

"Cause it's scary, and mobs are coming from it" he said taking out his bow.

"Oh no" I said taking out my sword and Omar copied me.

"Get ready, and follow my lead!" Omar shouted.

We charged to the mobs and started slashing our swords at them. "Hasan," I called him "Open up the hallway" I said.

"You got it" he said taking out a pickaxe and mining through the walls.

I stood at Omar's right side and helped eliminating mobs. I threw my sword at a spider lunging at Omar and Hasan shot an arrow at a zombie sneaking behind us.

I took back my sword and swayed it around, killing everything infront of us. Hasan kept widening the hallway and placing down torches and we kept defending him.

We reached the spawner and quickly placed a torch on it. Omar killed the last mob and we had a couple of minutes to rest. "Where to now?" I asked.

"Through there" Omar replied pointing at an abandoned Mineshaft.

"Let's go" Omar said "Oh, and mine any ore that grabs your attention" he finished moving forward.

I mined some coal and iron while Hasan mined gold and redstone. Omar took out the map and turned it on but nothing appeared. It showed a blue screen only.

"The Defenders" Omar said. Nothing happened. "The Defenders" he said again and still nothing happened. "Damn it! No signal!" Omar cursed.

"Didn't you study the map?" I asked.

"Yes, but I can't remember anything" Omar replied.

"So are we lost?" Asked Hasan.

"No, no. Just...give me a minute, I'll get us out of here" Omar said.

"We'll search for any good ores down here" I said.

Omar nodded as Hasan and I left him alone.

Omar's POV:
--------------------

I sighed and sat on a stone block thinking what to do. We're miles under the surface. And who knows what's above us I thought. I stood up and searched deeper inside the Mineshaft.

I placed torches to remember the way back and checked the map even now and then. I looked at the walls and they had letters carved on each side.

At the end of the hallway I'm walking in, there was an iron door with many levers, a sign with a number beside each one. I flipped one and an arrow passed over my head and into a wall.

I flipped another and the ground opened. Luckily, I was on a side that didn't open, so I barely managed to survive. There must be an order I thought.

I remembered the letters on the walls and saw them again.
"D E F E N D E R S" I spelled "*gasp* The Defenders!" I exclaimed.
Hasan and Mohammad rushed to me after hearing my shout. "What's wrong?" Asked Hasan.

"I found our exit!" I said with joy.

I explained everything to them and said my conclusion. "But there are numbers not letters. How does this help?" Asked Hasan.

"Wait, I remember at school in one of the Math sessions, the teacher said something about letter and numbers relating" Mohammad said.

"So can you crack the code?" I asked.

"I'll try" he replied.

"Good," I said as I heard a growl and zombies started pouring in from the dark "Hasan and I will protect you. Go go!" I said running at the zombies.

Mohammad started flipping switches while Hasan and I slayed zombies. I ducked under one's attack and stabbed him with my sword.

Hasan was behind me shooting arrows at the upcoming wave. I took out an enderpearl and threw it above the mobs. I pushed myself down and turned in circles, decapitating every single one.

Hasan took out some of the zombies approaching Mohammad and killed some that were sneaking up on me. "Mohammad!" I yelled to him.

"Done!" He said as the door opened.

The cave started shaking as we all exited the Mineshaft as fast as possible. I closed the door as the blocks killed the remaining zombies.

"Phew" I said wiping the sweat off my forehead.

I closed my eyes as the sun shined on them. I inhaled the fresh air and said "Finally, we're out". I took out the map and said "The Defenders". It showed us our current location and where to go.

We had to cross a volcano and reach a spruce forest with buildings all over its trees and filled with people. That's where they are.

"Well, let's finish this field trip" I said.
