"In love I've always been a mercenary."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Check please."
A waitress slowly made her way to the albino, carrying a slip of paper. The white-haired character whipped out a couple bucks, and with a flick of his wrist he dug a small throwing dagger into the bar's mahogany counter. A small gasp of surprise left the woman's mouth as he strolled out of the bar and into the rain, a smirk playing on his lips. The smirk faltered as he stepped into the dark musky air of Manhattan, car gas filling his lungs and lights blinded him.
The rain slid down his pale clean-shaven face, dropping down his chin as it pummeled down onto the cloaked man. His eyes narrowed when he felt the cool water deep into the leather he wore. And I just bought this yesterday.
Bullets of rain pummeled the mamas he walked down the alleyway briskly, avoiding all social contact. Now wasn't the time for an encounter with someone unwanted.
A crash sounded near the hooded albino as he spun on his heel, facing the mess behind him and reaching into his pocket for another knife. He let his stance fall, tilting his head to the side as the gaunt grey tabby hissed at the toppled trash can and dashed off into the shadows. It's yellow eyes glared at the can once more before disappearing, leaving the soaked albino dazed as he continued forwards.
A green pair of eyes glimmered in the shadows before disappearing.
The albino stopped in his tracks, looking up. He'd been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even really he was walking towards a dead end.
"I might be a lady killer but I am so stupid sometimes." He muttered under his breath.
"Couldn't agree more." A sugary voice replied from the shadows. The albino whipped around, red broadsword in hand in a flash. His hood flipped up, revealing piercing green eyes that shone in even the darkest of shadows.
Travis gritted his teeth at the feline that strutted towards him. Her purple hair fell in front over her shoulders and shielded her own pair of green eyes, duller than Travis'. She held the same scrawny cat in one arm, the other hand held knives in the shape of cat claws.
"Michi."
"Travis." She flashed him a cocky smile, "Fancy seeing you here."
"How did you find me." It sounded more like a command than it should've.
"It's not hard to track a demon warlock who plays off as a mercenary."
"You're no Catwoman yourself. I suppose the most you would do is scratch me to death."
"That made no sense."
"Eh." Travis shrugged. "I'm not witty at this hour. Especially not after a drink."
With that, Travis reeled back, swinging his broadsword and nicked a bit of the Meif'wa's hair. She hissed, flipping on her heels and kicking him square in the chest. Travis grunted, flicking out his throwing knives and aimed. Michi smirked, dodging each knife that flew by and even catching some midair. Travis glared, sprinting towards the feline at blurring speeds and swinging his blade, knocking her into the side of a building. He swung again, this time nearly hitting the cat had she not have scrambled up the side of the wall. Leaping back down, she spun in midair and threw knives in all directions-hers and Travis'. Holding up the broadsword, Travis managed to block most of the daggers except for one that skinned his soaked leather clothes. Well, there goes good money spent.
The albino suddenly had the wind knocked out of him as black heels knocked him on his back. He stumbled before swiping at Michi repeatedly. She cried out as each became a direct hit, smacking her straight into a wall. Travis waited, sword up, in case he saw any movement. When nothing reacted, he shrugged and let his sword retract in itself, curling up into a small suitcase-like box that he swung into his back. Hands in his pocket, the mercenary strolled away from the remains of the fight, swiping up a few of his knives scattered across the pavement along the way.
A deep impact into the albino's leg made him suddenly crumple to the floor, grunting in pain. He glanced up, noticing the purple cat unscathed and walking perfectly wrong after being slammed into a wall. Realization hit him like a ton of bricks-ironically-as he realized how she'd survived.
"Like my little upgrade? It was one of the job perks." Michi snickered, ripping her knife out of the flesh of Travis' leg, making him wince in pain.
"I never thought my father would stoop so low as to hire a cat mercenary to find me." He retaliated.
"How rude. Well, not that I care anyways. My job is done. I get cash and you get...well...you get to have your wretched hybrid head be freed from your shoulders. And your dad gets to be rid of you." She cackled. He felt a small pang in his chest at her words, but Travis ignored it. He was sure he would find a way out anyways. He always did.
Suddenly, a black flash ran across the roof as if a person was running across. Travis blinked, wondering if he was hallucinating. Calling out would either make him seem crazy or make Michi go after them and murder them.
Well. Turns out he wasn't wrong.
A black-hooded figure leaped from the roof, landing on Michi in a drop kick and flipping her into the second wall this day. Travis stared at his savior in awe. It was clearly a woman, but she wore black shorts and a black tank, along with black converse and (h/c) hair pinned into a hightail. A single slim katana hung by her side as one of her eyes glowed a light shade of blue while the other was covered by her hair.
Michi spit blood to the left and growled, "That's the second time today! Who are you?!"
The figure just stayed silent, rushing forwards. At the last second, she jumped over Michi and swung with her katana barely missing again. She swiped again. And again. Miss. Michi smirked as the mystery girl kept missing her target.
Travis on the other hand, realized what she was doing. It was intentional. The girl was taunting Michi.
When the smirk on the dark-clothed fell, she gripped the katana tightly and rushed forwards, jumping and kicking Michi multiple times. The girl swung with he sword, anticipating Michi's next moves and striking her before she could move. Michi cried out as she fell, making hysterical animalistic sounds. The girl glared, looking Michi straight in the eyes before speaking.
"I'm your worst nightmare, Michi."
It was then when Travis realized that her name wasn't verbally spoken at all around this girl.
The girl turned towards the mercenary, loosing her stance. She sheathed her katana to her side, walking towards Travis and extending a hand. He took it hesitantly, arching an eyebrow. "Who the heck are you, miss?"
The girl smirked at Travis, "I'm (Y/N)."
