Garroth X Aphmau [ Contest Winner ]

Garroth X Aphmau

• Garroth's POV •
I strolled sedately through the carnival grounds alongside my companion Laurance, my eyes alternating from one attraction to the next.

It was a very serene day, with the festivities low on customers as the carnival would cease soon. The celebration for the beginning of fall was nearing an end point, and most were back in their normal routines.

Of course, there were a few citizens who proceeded to enjoy what they could while the festival was still in town, leaving the carnival not entirely deserted.

Laurance and I happen to be two of those few, and continued our expedition around the fair grounds. We passed abandoned rides and empty stands that used to be lined with people waiting to enjoy what it had to offer.

One road we crossed in our exploration happened to be inhabited by two girls that seemed around our age. One with glimmering amber eyes and shining raven black hair sported a galaxy-design long sleeve and black shorts, while the other with sleek powder blue hair and aqua eyes wore a white shirt, tan cardigan over it, and tan shorts.

They seemed to be enjoying themselves, each devouring a caramel apple while chatting and ambling down a dirt pathway. Both were oblivious to us watching. Or, at least, me watching.

Laurance, on the other hand, elbowed me in the side after noticing my staring.

"You know them?" He asked with a curious tone.

"No, just something oddly familiar..." I replied in a monotone voice. He gave a feeble nod, contrary to the thought of pressing for more answers.

My gaze involuntarily traveled from Laurance back to the pair of girls, particularly the raven-haired. She had a certain aura about her, one approachable and inviting, yet bold and daring.

My eyes must have been locked on her for quite awhile, as when the trance I had been placed under broke, I noticed Laurance a few feet ahead of me.

"You still coming?" He asked in an amused tonality.

I nodded slowly, the two girls never leaving my vision. Laurance gave an irked groan, pinching the bridge of his nose and shaking his head in an irritated manner.

"Come on, dude. It's already getting late!" He stated.

Just as I was about to look away from the girls, the young woman with powder blue hair turned in our direction. She gave the other a slight nudge on the shoulder, and both of their attention was drawn towards us.

I gave a skittish wave, letting a small, nervous smile curve my lips. The aqua-eyed lady seemingly ignored us, acting indifferent to our presence.

Her comrade, on the other hand, returned my wave with an exceeding amount of enthusiasm. She flashed a brilliant smile that made my heart flutter against my ribcage and heat rushing up to my cheeks was a quick after-effect. Her amber eyes glowed with life and happiness, yet so much more could be seen wading beneath the surface.

Her outgoing, upbeat personality and whole appeal sent a tingling warmth rippling throughout my body.

I know it sounded insane to think so highly of someone you were seeing for the first time. And, let alone the fact I had not even had a formal conversation.

Yet, something about her familiar, maybe even comforting ambiance made me feel as if I'd known this girl my entire life. And who knows, I possibly could have ran into her at some point.

But for now, she was a mystery to me. I was under the impression it would stay that way forever. I would most likely never see her again, or perhaps I would see her here and there around town.

But, of course, my theories had me mistaken when the pair approached us. Laurance moved hurriedly back to my side, combing his fingers slowly through his light brown hair, pale blue eyes sparked with curiosity and mischief.

As the two gradually neared, the rising panic in my chest swelled and my stomach erupted with the feeling of nervous butterflies.

The closer they grew, the more detailed I could see their features, drawing in my interest.

The bluenette was quite alluring, with a slim figure and fairly tall, I might add. And while I did throw her a side glance, the raven-haired girl was the apple of my eye at this moment.

Though a little on the short side, her black locks cascaded beautifully down her back and partially over her shoulders, while her enticing amber eyes were framed with long, refined eyelashes. Her small figure and divine features made her extremely endearing and almost angelic.

I felt my throat go dry as I racked my brain for words that could create a sentence, but ultimately ended in failure. They drew nearer, and while in my frantic state, Laurance seemed collected and tranquil.

When time came to them standing before us, I had thought of nothing to say. I felt like a complete idiot, standing there, awestruck at the ladies, with not a word that could be spoken.

But I didn't have to start anything.

"Hi!" The raven-haired girl spoke. Her voice was friendly and welcoming, with a childlike charm that melted my heart. It wasn't high pitched, but defiantly not low either, leaving it at just the right tone to match her chipper attitude and amiable temper.

"My name is Aphmau!"
