Enki X Menphia
[To apologize for no one shot from me last week because I forgot it was Monday last week like all the time...here is another one shot. You are welcome. This also takes place before the Irene X Shad one shot I posted before for special reasons. ;)]
Enki looked down at his notes, carefully examining the world around him. He took the vast world around him, writing down all about it in his notes. The guys teased him, saying that sometimes he would just spend hours with his nose in his notes. Yet, Enki knew that was too true.
Irene seemed to be the only one of the Divine Warriors that seemed to want to stop this. Sure, she gave him a snarky comment here and there but nothing too extravagant. He was the only person he could openly converse with about his notes without any stupid rebuttals.
She was sitting right next to him, putting her own input on what Enki should examine about the world next. Then as Enki's eyes darted upwards from his pages, he was met with the sight of Menphia. He couldn't stop staring at the maiden, especially because she seemed to be mad about something. Although, Enki couldn't muster the courage to ask, he had to hide himself.
Irene took notice of this, sighing. "Enki, please do pay attention. Menphia will kill you if she catches you staring."
Enki still kept his gaze upon his fellow Divine Warrior. Menphia and Enki had interacted many times before but it was more of a passing regard, nothing really out of the ordinary for two people who saw each other every day. Obviously, he wanted to be more with her. "It's hard to, Irene. She is just so...exquisite."
"Enki, must I remind you, Menphia is the Fury and you are the Keeper?" Irene retorted, using their dignified names that the people around them called them due to the relics' powers they held. They had just barely learned about this and Enki was still on edge about them, especially Shad's. "So as a Keeper, you should be...KEEPing yourself alive. Haha!"
The Keeper groaned at the Matron's wordplay. She had been doing this for as long as he had met her, it was sometimes so bad of a joke that everyone would just glare at her. When she was done with her laughing, Enki continued the conversing. "I don't know, Irene. I'm kind of tired of doing this the way Shad does it. Be quiet and secretive to gain some points of pity and make the girl fall in love with him. I mean, it worked on you."
Irene blushed profusely, entertaining Enki in the slightest bit. "Enki, you know Shad and I are just friends. Anyways, you know I have no time for romance. I have to help people, my personal needs come last."
"Then why are you blushing?"
"Because it's an embarrassing question!" She exclaimed, using her hands to go emphasize her point. "What? I can't be flustered about that? You speak of romance and you can't even pursue your own. Look, if you are so infatuated with her and do not care for my warnings, then do it!"
Enki looked at his love interest once more, internally sighing to avoid any flak from Irene. He had thought of many scenarios where it would be the perfect time to talk to her and confess his attraction to her and realizing how creepy that would be. Enki didn't need to repel her. He wanted to attract her as well. How? That was the thing he didn't even know his self.
"Hey, Irene," a familiar voice broke the thoughts of Enki's spacing out period. He was met with the eyes of the Fury who's eyes seemed to be holding that title all by themselves. There was a flame in her eyes which seemed like it could not be extinguished. He should have known her title was the Fury from the start.
"Hello, Menphia," Irene greeted back as Menphia took a seat in front of the Matron, making Enki feel a bit uneasy. Enki buried his face in his notes again, letting his hand pick up his quill to just write about the names they were given once again. He had been trying to explain each name and what they do to determine for each warrior. Yet, his quill seemed to falter at Menphia's name as if Enki didn't want to unravel the mystery the Fury was.
"Hey Enki," Menphia caught his attention, slamming her hand down on her table in front of Enki, startling him. His quill almost flew out of his hands with the ink soaring through the air, some of the black residue dropped on the table, making both of the women look at him. Irene with pure terror written over her face and Menphia with a face of pure amusement.
Irene let out a breath that turned into a little awkward laughing fit. "Enki's a little startled today, too much research I swear."
Menphia nodded her head. "I'm being to realize that. Hey, Enki."
"H-hi..." Enki stammered, realizing he was sounding like Esmund. Realizing this, something took over him, like if something else was controlling his actions, making his voice almost....suggestive, "Pretty lady~."
Menphia made a slightly disgusted expression, shifting in her chair a bit. She stood up, adjusting her armor. "Thanks for the flattery but I think this conversation is over. Irene, Hyria's looking for you over in the training room. Enki....see you later...?"
Enki sunk a little in his seat, letting the feeling subside. He had really no idea of what had happened and frankly, he wanted to know. Irene was just looking at him with complete surprise, "Enki...oh my--"
"Irene, I seriously don't know what happened," Enki replied, dumbfounded.
"You said it in such a suggestive tone! Enki! What happened?!"
"I-I don't know! It was like--Where are you going?"
Irene was already up from her seat, her white sword outlined in blue sheathed beside her who was in her armor. "I'm going to meet Hyria, alone. I was going to ask you to meet her beforehand because I knew she was visiting but after that--"
Enki held his head in shame. "I understand. Take your leave."
Irene nodded slightly and walked out of the room, leaving Enki to set awhile and think.
Enki wasn't one to hope it wouldn't happen again, he knew for sure it would happen again. It was the same every time, every time you do something and try to avoid, you do it. There was no escape. He was just hoping the feeling would deteriorate over time.
Yeah...that didn't exactly happen.
After that, that's how Enki communicated with Menphia. It was like a weird cycle, she punched him at first but slowly started to tolerate it. Although his flirts annoyed her, it was benefiting Enki as well. When Irene had lost all sentience, Enki used them to cover up his feelings towards the whole situation. Menphia seemed to understand and sometimes smiled at them.
And that was all he needed at that moment.
