Aphmau X Aaron

The Simple Little Things Are What Matter The Most In Life

From the other side of the street, they'd look like the happiest couple you'd ever see. The kind that only exists in movies. The type that only happens in fairytales. A romance full of happiness and serenity.

And they were. They really were. They planned for so much, a prosperous future. Maybe a child or two, and a cat. Maybe even work at home together so they'd spend their every hours together.

But that kind of romance only existed in movies and in books full of fairytales.

And it never lasts for long.

It starts with the simple mistake of Aphmau cooking Aaron's favorite meal, until she realizes she has no Aaron to share it with.

And she'll start singing his favorite song loudly, expecting a deeper voice to join in, when all she gets is Katelyn telling her to shut up for the hundredth time.

She'll pick up her phone and start to text him and sit at the foot of her bed waiting for him to say yes to a date. But when she only got silence, she realizes the silence was impossible to fill.

She logs into his gaming account and steals all his stuff to annoy Aaron. He doesn't care. He isn't there.

She rents a hotel room far away from her friends to get away from the madness. It's a room with a single queen sized bed. Then she spends the night with tears soaking the sheets while the AC freezes her empty side.

She walks to his old house across the street, ringing the doorbell expecting him to open the door. But when a new face pops out with confusion written across does she it finally hit her.

He was gone. She was alone. Their system, their future, their prosperous future was broken. And she never even got to tell him of the little him growing inside her.

She'd have to raise their future alone. She'd have to spend a thousand days of happiness and a thousand nights of serenity with an empty side. No, they wouldn't be a thousand days of happiness and a thousand nights of serenity. It would be a thousand eternities spent with a growing pit in her stomach. The black hole he left when he broke apart from her. The abyss that kept eating more and more of her.

And when she finally does get her partner back, it's only for what seems like seconds.

It's awkward at first. She's freaking out. She pinches herself. It doesn't hurt. But she doesn't care.

For only a few moments a day, she cooks his favorite meal and they share it in happiness.

For only a few seconds does she need to sing a couple notes to hear a second voice chime in.

Even if it's only a couple moments, she texts him. He texts her back. They sit across from each other sending each other cat memes.

She smiles as she hears Aaron yelling in confusion when he finds his avatar stripped of all the items in his inventory.

When she lays in bed, she giggles as she feels warm, strong arms envelope her as they rest. She doesn't feel cold anymore. The emptiness is gone.

The house is empty. In those few seconds, they manage to take residence and the hole in her heart is filled and satisfied.

And she finally gets to tell him.

She tells him that she has two heartbeats now.

She tells him of the little future inside her belly.

And he's elated. He hugs her and kisses her and they tell everyone. Garroth and Laurence congratulate them. Dante gets the couple gifts from the brunette and blonde. Katelyn and Kawaii~Chan hug her and try to talk to the baby as Travis tells Katelyn that they should consider starting a family too. And he gets a kiss, then a punch to the shoulder playfully by a red-faced, blue-haired woman. Zane smiles for once. Vylad shows his inner feminine side by cooing over the child with Cadenza and Lucinda. Nicole agrees with Travis and everyone laughs.

Together. Happily.

But only when she tells him does she stop being able to see him. She's at peace with him. She and the baby are alone again. And when everyone congratulates her, nobody acknowledges Aaron's absence. No one cares. No one notices. And Aphmau can't help but wonder why she's the only one who can see his happiness.

Then the hole comes back. And she's alone. And this time, the hole completely consumes her. And this is only the first time she faints.

The doctors tell her it's just the shock of having the baby. She doesn't agree.

And then one day she doesn't wake up.

The doctors tell her friends she's in a coma. They decide to complete a c-section while she's in a coma and sedated to keep the baby alive.

And she doesn't wake up.

And she finally sees Aaron smiling again.

Again. Again. Again.

She decides she's going to spend a thousand years of happiness and serenity alone with him. And only him.

Together forever.

Twenty years later does the child come back to where his parents met. He never knew them. But he sees their school. And he smiles. And he walks past it.

He comes across a small street. It only has a few houses, but out of one of them he notices a strange woman with blue hair. He walks up to her. A white-haired man is standing next o her. The woman is pregnant.

What strange hair colors they have, he thinks to himself. The child tells them about a couple, both brunette, that might've lived here a few years ago. The couple look at each other. The woman nods.

And she tells them that his mother died of grief, living in her memories as a comatose killed her. She tells him his father was murdered. She tells him that they were like a couple you'd only see in movies, the type you only read about in fairytales. The husband comments that they were a perfect romance. He says they were good friends. In fact, he says the entire neighborhood was. He gives the twenty-year-old a list of names and addresses of the people who lived there. And the son says his condolences, and leaves. But right before he steps out of the house, the son is handed a photo. He's told to keep it.

It's a picture of his mother and father, her in his arms kissing. She's wearing a white dress. He's wearing a tuxedo. And under it, reads black words scribbled in a cursive fashion.
