[College AU]

Aphmau looked around her dorm room, purple backpack slung across her back, waiting to see if Katelyn would pop out of nowhere with a Ramen Noodles cup in her hands. When her phone vibrated, she looked down to see Katelyn was out with Kawaii~chan at Olive Garden. Smiling half-happily wishing that the text she just received was from someone else,  she looked for her tangled earbuds she left on the kitchen counter that morning.

She found the white earbuds, picking them up, replacing the spot with her phone. Taking the strings in her hands, she untangled the two buds from each other. When she finally did, she rested the earphones carefully on the coffee table to allow both her hands to be free. She took off her backpack from her arm and rummaged through her plethora of school papers to free her laptop.

Her hands found the slick feeling of the laptop and pulled it out onto her lap. Setting that aside, she got her earbuds back, sticking the plug to connect the sound from the computer to her ears. She opened the laptop, signing into her account looking at her open Spotify playlist.

The song she had memorized from the multiple times she had listened to it was highlighted. Sighing, realizing her life was a loop like that song, she pressed play. Olivia O'Brien filled her ears with the hook of her iconic song with gnash.

Feeling used...

Knowing that the second she minimized that playlist, she would be welcomed with a devasting sight, she pressed the minimizing tab. The Spotify playlist was replaced with a picture of a couple kissing.

And I can't see the end of this...

She let the tears flow, making her amber eyes sparkle in the dim lighting of the dorm. The tears dropped against the keyboard. Aphmau knew exactly why she put the phone far away from her. She would be forever hopeful that anything that came onto the phone came from him.

That hope should've been diminished months ago when he stopped talking to her. It was like the minute he got a girlfriend, she couldn't talk to him anymore. He still talked to her in real life but never the way they used to before.

The door creaked open with Katelyn groaning at whoever she was talking to, "Travis, those pick-up lines never work! Stop trying!"

Katelyn got inside the dorm, rolling her eyes before noticing her roommate had come home with the same eyes filled with tears. She set down a paper bag annoyed. Her annoyed attitude turned into almost a protective one in a millisecond once she saw Aphmau. Her mouth became a tight line. "You need to stop getting on Instagram and stop thinking about stupid Aaron with his stupid girlfriend."

Aphmau looked at Katelyn, tears rolling down her cheeks that she wiped away as she tried to smile. She laughed, almost sounding like her broken heart had taken completely over her.

"Aph..."

"You only know him as Aaron, I know him as FC," Aphmau's voice cracked, tears still running down her cheeks, "FC was a person who I could talk to about literally everything and vice versa. We would talk about everything. Then, we stopped. I just want to tell him how crappy my life is now but I can't. I'm too afraid."

Katelyn's gaze turned from Aphmau onto her phone which was on the kitchen counter. Katelyn took the phone in her hand, punching in Aphmau's password and open to his number. She threw to Aphmau who caught it in fear of breaking the phone.

Aphmau looked at her roommate who slid over to her side, looking over her shoulder. Katelyn's blue hair tickled Aphmau's cheek as she comforted her. "You're going to tell him how you feel. He deserves to know."

"But...but I can't."

"For what reason, Aphmau?" Katelyn questioned. "I'll give that bitch a piece of my mind if you're afraid that Lily will read the texts first."

"No," Aphmau shook her head, "I'm scared he'll ignore me even more."

"You'll never know unless you try."

Aphmau looked at Katelyn. She then looked at her phone, taking a deep breath.

What was there to lose?

Her fingers went quickly at her phone's keyboard, letting all her feelings out. Katelyn smiled, watching as Aphmau slowly started getting better. Everything she needed to say was what she needed to say. She needed this.

Katelyn watched as Aphmau pressed send on her paragraphs to Aaron. "Do you feel better now?"

Aphmau nodded her head. She set the phone down on the coffee table and stopped her music. Closing out of all her tabs, Aphmau looked at Katelyn, "Netflix time?"

Katelyn smiled. "Sure."

Katelyn was fast asleep on the 15th episode of AOT. Aphmau smiled, continuing to watch the anime without her. Suddenly, Aphmau's phone started ringing.

Not wanting to wake Katelyn, Aphmau looked at her phone. Alarmed because of the Caller ID, she answered the phone. "Hello?"

"Hey, can you come to the door?" The other voice on the phone asked Aphmau.

"Do you want me to open the door?"

"No, just..." The caller paused for a second. "Sit down against the door and talk with me."

Aphmau paused on Levi's face, setting the laptop onto the coffee table. She walked over to the door, sliding down it and sitting on the floor. "Okay, I am."

A knocking on the door three times made a redolent sound in Aphmau's memory. "Can you hear that, Shu?"

"It can't be you, FC." Aphmau said, smiling at the deja vu.

"We can't go to the same school. This is some cruel joke," the caller badly acted on the phone.

Aphmau stood up, reaching for the doorknob. She rotated the golden knob to reveal the caller with a cupcake in one of their hands.

"But we do, FC. We exist in the same world and fate plays cruel tricks on us all the time."

"I missed you Shu," Aaron said, extending the cupcake with his hand that wasn't holding his phone.

Aphmau ended the call on her phone, putting the phone in her back pocket. She suddenly hugged Aaron, gripping onto his red jacket. "I've missed you too, FC."
