So the thing he's carrying (if you don't know what that is, or you forgot) is an enderpearl. "But why does he have one? Don't they drop them?" Well technically the short story here is that, there were two Enderman's who were just trying to get blocks for their world and all of a sudden a human comes through and tries to kill the Enderman since the human needed one, the one Enderman told the other Enderman to run/teleport away while he's fighting off the human but he refused but he teleported away. After a while the human killed that Enderman but got nothing (little did he know) the enderpearl was just sitting on the ground, after a while the Enderman that teleported away can back to see if he's okay but when he found the enderpearl he picked it up and saw the purple blood and realized that his friend is gone, so he started crying.

Man now it's making me not want to kill enderman anymore and give them a hug (༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ).
