due to recent events, i'd like to talk about a few things regarding Dream (if you don't like discourse/drama then please don't read this)

(warning: mentions of death threats and also this is very long)

First, I do wanna say that I don't hate Dream or anything, I just don't support him. I'm happy (and impressed) by Dream's success and I hope he'll keep doing well, however I hope he does... get better at addressing a few things.

As far as my knowledge goes, I don't believe Dream has addressed the insane toxicity of his fandom. I know he's done a stream in the past addressing some stuff but from what I've read, the stream clearly didn't address most of the main issues.

The Mxmtoon situation was a mess. If you aren't aware, Mxmtoon (Maia) is a music artist and made a parody of her song for George (Georgenotfound). They kept up this haha funny friendly flirting on twitter and Dream was pretending to be all jealous and obviously, fans took it way too far.

Shippers sent death threats and toxic messages to Maia, saying things like how George belonged with Dream and whatnot, to the point where I believe she actually had to take a step back from social media for the sake of her mental health.

From what I know, Dream and George never addressed this (or if they did, they must have only addressed it in a passing comment cuz I didn't see shit about it). This absolutely isn't okay.

(btw if im wrong about any of this please correct me, i don't wanna accuse anybody of shit they didn't do)

I seriously think Dream needs address a) the excessive and frankly invasive shipping, and b) the FUCKING DEATH THREATS (I say Dream but tbh it's the whole Dream Team, I don't really support any of them)

I genuinely think the whole Dream Team has issues with never addressing shit and I think they really need to either do a stream or a thread of tweets addressing it (I'd prefer a proper video so all their fans can see but at this point I'll take whatever I can fucking get)

Also the fucking glow squid really pissed me off (this was literally today btw)

For context, there was a poll for what new mob to add to the game (Iceolliger, Moobloom, or Glowsquid) and Dream tweeted out to go vote for Glowsquid. There's a lot of issues with this for several reasons.

First, even though I'm not super salty over the Glowsquids winning cuz I do like them, I do think that Dream telling his fans to vote is kinda rigged. His fans likely made up a good percentage of the people voting on the poll (I think it was about 5-10%) that easily could've pushed Glowsquid to winning.

Second, like Dream said, a bunch of other streamers told their viewers who to vote for but I don't think Dream understands how much power he has. Ten million subs is a ton and even if a portion of that on twitter is still huge.

Third, the way Dream tweeted about voting for the Glowsquids is uh, borderline manipulation (especially considering a lot of his audience is quite young). This was his tweet to get people to vote for Glowsquid (which I think he's since deleted but someone reposted it on reddit):

It's one thing to do what Bad did which is this (which I understand was kinda joke but is the general formatting for how streamers get their fans to vote on polls):

It's another thing to barter with your fans to get what you want. This is literally rigging the poll as well because you're saying that you'll follow your fans if they vote for what you want (which is a big thing for a lot of people, to basically have a celebrity/role model follow you). This also gets people who don't even care about the poll to vote for Glowsquid as well because hey, a follow is a follow.

Not to mention, he tried to justify his actions in these tweets:

First, I already addressed the whole kinda manipulating situation but the second tweet really gets to me.

The issue is that yeah Dream, it is an issue that you're a bigger content creator. It means you have way more influence over way more people. For example, if Markiplier tried to tell people who you should vote for by telling them he'll follow the people who vote for Glowsquid that would be really problematic because he was sway over such a large audience and could affect the votes greatly.

Not to mention, the tweet in question is using a tactic to purposefully get more people to blindly vote for Glowsquid which is lowkey manipulative (whether it's intentional or unintentional, idk but it's not good)

(also stop fucking mocking people dude, the second tweet which the meme and shit is really unnecessary)

I seriously think Dream needs to realize how big of an influence he is. He's currently the most popular minecraft youtuber right now and has 10 million subscribers, not to mention his fanbase is already really fucking loud.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and trying to believe he's just uninformed about shit (mainly because I'd rather not be even angrier at him). I seriously think he just doesn't really that 10 million is a lotta fucking people and his fans are very willing to blindly follow him.

(then again if he does realize it then he's just being fucking manipulative but that's another topic)

I also would like to address these other two tweets that I have some issues with:

I would first like to say however I think these two are from being genuinely uninformed but in that case you shouldn't address a topic you clearly have next to no knowledge about.

Okay I'd like to address the top one first because literally what the fuck

I don't know what kinda fucking stans he's looking at but those are absolutely not 90 fucking percent of stans. 1 and 2 are definitely valid though I wouldn't consider them anywhere near 90% of stans but 3 confuses me a lot.

"Is extremely toxic and obviously doesn't fit in" okay literally what the hell does this even mean. I'm going to assume it just means "people being rude for no reason" but I seriously can't decode it.

The second tweet also clearly shows that Dream has no fucking clue what he's talking about (I've been trying to be polite and shit but I'm getting real damn tired, sorry ya'll).

"The other 10% are valid" is really vague but I'm assuming that means "the other 10% have valid reasons to hate on stans" but at this point idk. "Don't hate on stans just because it's the 'cool thing'" is completely invalid because almost nobody shits on stans because "it's the cool thing.

Some people shit on like kpop stans cuz it's "the cool thing" but I feel like almost no one just shits on stans in general cuz it's "the cool thing".

"Just because someone argues with you that I'm a good player doesn't make them toxic" also very clearly shows Dream doesn't know shit about this topic and really shouldn't be talking about it.

The people who argue with others that "Dream is the best minecraft player" are the people who also shit on others (like Technoblade) and say that they're shit at the game and they fucking suck. Also dude, no one just argues that "Dream is a good player", people try and argue that "Dream is the best minecraft player ever and everyone is the worst".

Most of the people who hate stans have valid reason to hate them and it's because most stans are absolute nightmares to deal with (I mean, the word stan literally comes from mixing "stalker" with "fan" so like-).

Also Dream stans are literally the worst because they're the people that argue Dream is the almighty minecraft king, or the people who send death threats because "George belongs with Dream", or the people who are constantly starting rumors or drama about Dream himself.

I'm genuinely so surprised Dream has never properly addressed anything of the discourse or toxicity properly, especially because it's the reason his name is so dragged in the mud outside of the fandom.

My only conclusion is that Dream is just really disconnected from the fandom and doesn't understand things that happen in the fandoms, like the stan thing or never addressing the toxicity (same with the rest of the Dream Team honestly cuz none of them ever address this kinda stuff and it's really weird).

At this point, the only reason I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and saying he's uninformed is so I don't have reason to get even angrier at him because I'm just so tired of this man -.-'

Like I said before, I don't hate Dream or Dream Team and I'm happy for their success, but I definitely don't support them. You can support them, I ain't gonna change your mind about that, but I do want people to realize that they aren't these unproblematic angels that fans make them out to be.
