Twenty Four

It's been a few days since the accident Taehyung had. Yes, he told everyone he met with an accident and the driver beat the shit out of him because he was standing in the middle of the road. He lied, obviously but he could not think of any other excuse. This might be lame but if he said he got picked on by some university students, Jungkook would have asked who was it probably to beat the shit out of that person.

Taehyung did not go to work since then. He is very scared to. I mean the boy almost got raped and beat to pulp! He even spoke to Minhyun even though he didn't want to. The gang leader, for a change, gave him some time off to rest well.

These days Taehyung has focused on studying more. Jungkook spent a lot of time in their room too and the two of them prepared for their mid sems together. Today was their fourth exam that went well. Now only two exams are left.

Taehyung sits with his book open and tries to study but his mind often wanders off to the cherry haired boy who has been nothing but caring and loving towards him. The blue haired boy has also realised how much he likes his roommate. He is his guardian angel.

If only Taehyung knew Jungkook is far from being an angel.

Taehyung tries his best to focus on his studies and just when he diverted his attention towards the book, the door slams open. The blue haired boy's head whips in the direction of the loud noise and he calms down when he sees his roommate.

"You could have entered normally, Kookie. You scared me!" Taehyung exclaims, placing his hand on his chest and rubbing it dramatically.

"I need to talk to you, Taehyung." Jungkook says. His voice holds a sudden urgency and his eyes hold a not so calm look. Taehyung gulps and nods slowly. The lack of nickname has already had his heart beat at a faster rate. Jungkook normally calls him Tae, cutie, prince or sweetie. But now that he called him with his first name, Taehyung doesn't know what to expect.

Jungkook comes and stands in front of Taehyung. "I need you to tell me how you got hurt." The cherry haired male asks as calmly as he can.

On the other hand, Taehyung's throat dries up. "I-I already told you that the driver-"

"The driver of some car beat you because you were standing in the middle of the road. Yeah, yeah. I know that story and I also know that its bullshit so how about you try telling me the truth now, huh?" Jungkook demands. Taehyung's breathing rages. The aura of his roommate appears so scary right now. He found out that Taehyung was lying!!! What is he gonna do now?

"I... I told you the t-truth." Taehyung says. His eyes cast down at the floor.

"Really? Then why can't you say the same without stuttering? And try looking at me in the eyes while saying so." Jungkook says calmly but by now Taehyung knows that this is just the calmness before the storm.

"I-I..." Taehyung doesn't even know what to say anymore. At times like these, he wishes he was like Minhyun, a pro liar.

He looks at Jungkook who has his arms crossed across his chest, his foot tapping at the floor impatiently. "I... don't know how me g-getting hurt is any of your b-business." Taehyung mumbles and then the scary thing happens.

He sees Jungkook's calm demeanor changing into something he does not even know how to comprehend. Oh boy, he should not have said that.

"It's not any of my business? Then whose business is it, Kim Taehyung?" Jungkook's voice is dangerously low.

"Mine."

"Yours? You sure you can say something like that to someone who has taken care of you when you could not even move without grunting in pain?" Jungkook challenges. Taehyung knows that Jungkook, of all people, deserves the truth. But he cannot just tell Jungkook that. He cannot drag the boy into hell with him. His life is already ruined and he cannot let someone important in his life go through the same shit.

"Are you using that against me now?" Taehyung demands. He knows he probably shouldn't be saying this. Jungkook must be thinking how ungrateful Taehyung is but the blue haired boy cannot even think of anything else in such a short time period. Maybe he should've been more convincing when he lied about his injuries.

"No. I just want to know the truth."

"But why?" Taehyung asks, looking irritated. He wants to get out of this situation as soon as possible.

"Because I know you're lying." Jungkook shrugs and sits on his bed.

"You don't trust me?" Taehyung whispers, his tone really sad. It's funny how he kept so many things from the cherry haired boy but he expects him to trust him.

"I used to and I want to, Taehyung. Trust me on that but your story about your injuries is clearly a lie. I can see through you. You are not a great liar." Jungkook says, trying his best to not let the feeling of being betrayed get the best of him because that feeling makes him very angry towards Taehyung.

"But I want you to trust me." Taehyung says in a small voice.

"Oh then why don't you give me a reason for me to trust you, Kim? Tell me the truth. Its that simple."

"IT'S NOT SIMPLE!" Taehyung suddenly shouts. He feels a sudden anger towards Jungkook. How can he say that telling the truth is easy. It's not easy. Taehyung cannot just accept the fact that he is a part of a gang and he got beat up and almost raped by them.

"So you want me to trust you but you won't even tell me the truth. Oh what a nice logic." Sarcasm drips from Jungkook's voice.

"L-Look Jungkook, I'm really th-thankful that you helped me while I was recovering but I think you should stay out of my matters." Taehyung says and turns around. He feels like he cannot stand here anymore. Something about Jungkook's tone and his words make Taehyung feel humiliated.

"Oh is it? Then you should not come unconscious in someone else's arms like you came that day. All beat up. If you don't want me to question, don't give me reasons to." Jungkook says. He feels angry. Taehyung is trying to walk away when all he wants is to have a conversation.

No one ever dares to do that to Jungkook. Everyone respects him. Being lied to is not something he can tolerate. He doesn't like being kept in the dark. He has been really patient with Taehyung so far.

But he had seen the blue haired boy talking to Minhyun a while ago and he knows who Hwang Minhyun is. He is the leader of Mekong and seeing him with Taehyung really pissed him off.

"It's not like I fucking begged you to take care of me." Taehyung grits his teeth and turns around. He feels so bad right now. He likes Jungkook and he has always seen his caring side. He cannot understand why the boy is acting like this all of a sudden.

"I have been doing just fine even before you showed up in my life. I don't know what makes you think that I depend on you for anything." Taehyung says, hurt evident in his voice. He bats his eyelashes multiple times to stop tears from rolling down. Out of all the moments, he cannot cry in front of Jungkook now. Not now when they are having a fight or argument. Call it whatever you think it is. Taehyung doesn't know the difference between the two right now.

"Taehyung, I'm asking because I care for you." And I don't want you to be a part of some gang. Jungkook wants to add but he can't. If he talks to Taehyung about the gang and Minhyun, the other would question him about how he knows and how will Jungkook tell him that?

"If you cared for me, Jungkook you wouldn't have said things so harshly to m-me... you wouldn't have hu-humiliated me." Taehyung says, not being able to hold back a sob and walks out of the room.

Hey lovelies! Don't be upset 'cause of what happened in this chap. Remember that it's a mafia fic. More of such things will keep coming your way.

^Guys James Corden's show was really good. He even cleared out what happened and apologised. And instead of saying "we accept your apology", Joon said "We appreciate your apology" and I feel better about this whose situation. Joon has the best replies ever. And I'm really happy that James apologised when Namjoon brought up the topic.

And also, did you watch the crosswalk thing? BTS and James stopped the traffic for performance!! I can't wait to watch that episode! BTS seem to be having the time of their lives these days. They look so happy and I'm so happy for them. US ARMYs are so lucky too and of course JEALOUSY IS A DISEASE. But the happiness of our boys matter a lot.

This whole James Corden episode and it's behind the scenes lifted my mood up so well after what happened at the stoopid Scammy nominations last night.
