Sixty Six
There's only the sound of shallow breathing heard in the room. Otherwise the room, in fact the whole hideout is really quiet.
After crying his eyes out, Jungkook had finally fallen asleep in Taehyung's embrace and the latter is thankful that he did. He was really clueless about how to help him.
Once he felt Jungkook's body weight falling on him, he knew that he was asleep. So he carefully laid him down on the bed and himself laid next to him. He stared at him for a while, feeling guilt eating him up. He feels so bad for lashing out on Jungkook without knowing the whole truth. There's still a lot left to talk about but that can wait. Rest is what the both of them need the most right now.
Thinking everything that happened through, Taehyung had fallen asleep too so when Seokjin had come to check on the two of them, he had a little smile on his face when he saw them sleeping next to each other without a blanket. Their legs were tangled together and faces were just inches apart. He found them so cute that he took a picture of them before putting on a blanket to cover their bodies.
It's been a few hours since Taehyung and Jungkook have been sleeping. The latter is the first one to wake up. When his eyes open, he catches the most beautiful sight in front of him. The sight of his Taehyung sleeping peacefully, looking like an absolute angel.
For years, Jungkook had wanted his dream to come true. Today it did but he hopes it was in better circumstances. But something is better than nothing, right?
A smile forms on his face when he notices the other's fluffy, brown hair kissing his forehead. His long eye lashes touch his skin and his pillowy lips that are formed into a pout make him look so cute. Jungkook cannot believe that he is the same person who had yelled at him and threatened him with his life several times.
He also feels guilty for taking Taehyung with him to Seoul against his will. But he only thought about his safety at that time. He doesn't know to what extent the brunette believes him. But he will be absolutely honest with him.
He slowly brings his hand to Taehyung's face and brushes his hair away to see more of his forehead. He looks so peaceful unlike the previous night when he was so disturbed. Jungkook is glad that he didn't drink too much to not be able to talk to him sensibly. If he did, he wouldn't be able to talk to the artist and he would curse himself a lot for that later. All he wants is to clear the misunderstanding. He wants Taehyung to know that Mingyu is not really what he thinks he is. Even if he is his brother and decides to help him later, he needs to know what kind of a person he is. Then he could make his own decision if he wanted to side with him or not.
Jungkook softly caresses Taehyung's cheeks and whispers, "I'm sorry. I never... wanted to make your life complicated, baby." He swallows a thick lump in his throat and smiles sadly. After talking everything out with him, he needs to apologise otherwise the guilt would eat him alive.
"You w-want to protect the ones you love, right? Th-Then what did I do so wrong that you're this mad at me?" He whispers to himself more than to him as he continues to trace small heart patterns on the other's cheeks. This action sends a tingling sensation through Taehyung's body and he cannot help but smile at how good it feels.
He slowly opens his eyes and smiles at the ravenette who looks at him with mild surprise. "Y-You were awake?" The brunette giggles and nods his head, making him feel embarrassed. If he was awake then how much did he hear?
"I still don't know why you mentioned the word protect. What or who do you want to protect me from? I'd... like to know more about it. I want to tell you that if you do something to protect your loved ones, there's never a wrong intention behind it. But the way you choose to make them feel protected can be right or wrong. I guess, we'll have to talk about that." Taehyung says and places his hand on the other's cheek. He slowly traces his jawline, sending the same kind of sensation he felt earlier.
Jungkook closes his eyes, wanting to fully enjoy this feeling while it lasts. Taehyung looks at his relaxed face and feels relaxed himself. He cannot express how much he has missed Jungkook. He has never been in any romantic relationship because he loves the ravenette so much that it was hard to move on from him. But he also knew that their love story won't necessarily have the kind of ending they desired so he decided to focus on his career instead. For relieving stress, he just hooked up with some guys, fucked them to oblivion and left them the next day.
Now he wonders if getting mad at Jungkook was even justified when he left the room after they had sex. Isn't he being a hypocrite when he has already done the same thing with so many people.
He feels upset for getting mad at Jungkook at that time too. He is no better than him or wait... maybe Jungkook is better than him. He did not play with the emotions of so many people at the same time. It was just Taehyung and he never really played him. As Mingyu told him earlier, he must be having his own reasons and the artist firmly believes that now.
"Hey, Tae? What's with the sad face?" Taehyung opens his eyes when he hears Jungkook's concerned voice. He doesn't remember when he closed his eyes in the first place. He sighs and shakes his head. He retreats his hand from his face and sits up on the bed.
Jungkook doesn't buy what he said because clearly, he is lying. He sits up right behind him too and puts his arms around his torso, pulling him into his body.
Immediately a sigh escapes Taehyung's mouth as he enjoys the warmth of his love's body. "What are you thinking, baby?" Jungkook asks and kisses the other's shoulder. Taehyung shivers. The last time they had sex, it was too fast--- as if they did it out of hunger for each other's body.
Now Taehyung wants Jungkook. But he wants to have a memorable time. He wants to have his own sweet time with him without any care of the world but now is not the right time. Not when his brother still needs to wake up. He cannot do anything until he knows the whole truth. He won't be able to stay at peace before that.
"I just... want to know why... you brought me to Seoul. Were you not mad at me that I am Mingyu's brother?" He asks, leaning into him further. Jungkook smiles a little and starts running his fingers up and down Taehyung's arm, making him shiver once again.
"I won't lie, I was mad. And upset. More like devastated? Because you turned out to be the brother of the person I hate the most. You of all people, Kim Taehyung. You realise what's happening here?" Jungkook says in a low voice, right next to his ear. The brunette shakes his head, wanting to know more.
"As I said last night, Tae, I've loved you since a very long time. It was the first year of the university I guess and I was... head over heels for you." Jungkook chuckles at the end of the statement. Taehyung looks at him with surprised eyes and the ravenette just places a kiss on his temple.
"But at that time... I thought I should stay away from you because I didn't want you to get yourself involved with a person who is the future mafia boss and ruin your life. I always knew you had big dreams for yourself." Jungkook explains. Taehyung feels surprised again and happy to know that Jungkook is so considerate.
"So I kept all my feelings to myself but then you appeared as my roommate and that's when I knew I couldn't control anymore. I was... encouraged, you could say, when I noticed you enjoyed spending time with me." Jungkook smiles at the memories from five years ago that flash in front of his eyes. The way Taehyung forced him to have breakfast with him, the way they talked about K-Pop for hours at a stretch and the movie nights they had on the weekends. He kind of misses all those.
Taehyung smiles at his words. If they are being honest right now, he might as well tell Jungkook how he felt. He brings his hands on his stomach and places them right above Jungkook's, bringing a smile on the latter's face.
"I knew you since the first year of college. Everyone did. But I didn't think you could like me. After all, I was that outcast nobody wanted to stay around. Heck, some of them even said I don't deserve to live." A tear slips from Taehyung's eyes when he blinks them. Jungkook looks at him and immediately moves away. Taehyung starts missing the warmth. He never really realised he craved Jungkook so much until now.
"Taehyung, you shouldn't believe what they said because it's all wrong. You're more successful than many of your bullies combined." Jungkook states and appears in front of him. He cups his faces and wipes his tears with the pad of his thumbs. Taehyung smiles and looks at him shyly. His words bring so much warmth and comfort to him.
"You are literally so strong, baby. You went through all of that and you're still so successful. You worked on yourself so much and you're now physically capable of taking care of yourself too besides just mentally. You don't know how happy it makes me to see you like this. At least I know you're more than capable of taking care of all those assholes who mess with you." Jungkook says while ruffling his hair, "I guess, I'm included in that list too." He chuckles.
Taehyung feels bad for what he did last night once again. Making a shallow hole in his back is one of the acts that he feels ashamed about.
"No, you're not. I'm... I'm sorry for what I did yesterday to you and your men." Taehyung gulps and looks down at his hands that are clasped together. "I could've made a normal entry. I could've asked them to ask you to let me in but no... I had to hurt everyone. I usually hate blood and war but... I'm taking the same path."
Jungkook sighs. He hates seeing Taehyung blame himself. He holds his hands and squeezes them gently. "Tae, look at me." He says softly and the other does. "You were angry, Tae. I would've been too if I found out that my ex best friend was after my gang and my brother. So it's understandable. I'm not mad at you. You had to take out your anger somewhere and you did. I'm still glad you came to talk to me though."
Taehyung nods. He is glad that he talked everything out too. He has been misunderstanding the other since so long.
Jungkook quickly gets up from the bed and extends his hand towards Taehyung, "We can talk about everything else later. Let's just freshen up first and have our breakfast."
"Sure. I'm famished." Taehyung takes his hand and gets up. Jungkook shows him the washroom and tells him to use it first while he would bring some clothes for him and get ready in another room himself.
The both of them are in a slightly better mood. They feel as if a boulder has been lifted off of their shoulders.
After brushing his teeth and taking a shower, Taehyung exits the washroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. He uses another towel to wipe his hair.
When he reaches the bed, he is shocked beyond imagination. There's the dress Jungkook had gifted him when he moved out of their dorm. It's the same dress Taehyung loves and has never let go of it. It always reminded him of the ravenette and their happy memories together.
So he's supposed to wear it now?
