*14* Promise

An electric shock spiraled throughout their bodies, fireworks going off on there heads.

If someone would have told Marinette, that her first kiss would be a blonde country boy, she would have said 'no way.' Yet, here she was, her lips pressed against Adrien's.

She never kissed Nathaniel, it was weird, but it never happened.

She sat in shock, not kissing back. Not that she didn't want to......She just couldn't move.

Adrien pulled away, taking in the flustered expression of the girl.

He suddenly felt embarrassed, his face heated up, immediately regretting what he just did.

"Oh...oh my gosh...I am so sorry, I don't know what got into me, I ju-" Adrien began to ramble, when his face was pulled down by a pair of soft and gentle hands.

Marinette pushed her lips to his, actually kissing him this time. Adrien moved his lips with hers.

He used one arm beside her, to prop himself up. The other laid on her hip, not daring to go any further.

He had already kissed her without permission once, and he didn't want to be any more disrespectful.

She ran her fingers gentley through his soft hair, creating a mess on his head.

Adrien pulled away, hovering over her.

He looked at her.

For once, Marinette wanted to make this the least amount of awkward possible.

She didn't want to make him feel like he had done wrong, because he hadn't. She also didn't want him to feel like he had made her angry, because she was far from it.

She never realized how much she wanted him, until now.

So she smiled up at him, calming his features instantly.

"Well that....umm.....was unexpected."
Adrien got off of her, sitting on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his messy hair.

"I could say the same thing about you." Marinette poked him in the arm.

Despite not really knowing what just happened.....they didn't care.

Marinette sighed. Her feelings were confusing her, but at the same time, she was dead sure what she wanted. But she needed to know what he wanted to.

"Hey Adrien...." Her headache returned a bit, as her feelings started returning.

"Hmm?"

"What..... Are we?" Marinette asked.

Adrien stared blankly at the ceiling, thinking over what to say.

"What do you want to be?" Adrien answered her with another question.

"Well...... I'm not sure. I'm confused." She admitted, not feeling embarrassed anymore.

"You wanna know something?" Adrien looked over to her, her expression unreadable.

"Yeah?"

"I'm confused too....." He put his hand over hers.

"But I know that you truly are amazing Marinette."

".....we barely know each other." Marinette argued.

"I bet I know more than you think." He stated.

"Really now?" Marinette questioned, not believing a word he said.

"Hmmm... Mrs. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, your favorite color is pink. You love to draw, and design. You were born and raised in Paris, and your parents own one of the best bakeries this town has ever seen. You have the most beautiful blue eyes, and you make the most popular girls in school jealous, whether you want to believe it or not. You say you want to fit in, but on the inside you just want to be you. You want to be accepted for who you are. You put others before yourself, and would take the pain for anyone. You are really smart, and finish papers before me. You keep secrets, but I know you want to tell me them. So Mrs. Dupain-Cheng.....is there anything I should know?" Adrien smiled.

Marinette was shocked at how much he actually knew about her, and how much he seemed to pay attention to her. But she wanted to let him know one thing.

"Yeah....I want you to know why I like ladybugs so much....." Marinette sighed.

Adrien looked over to her, patiently waiting for her to continue.

"I like them because.....when I was little....my grandfather was the best person i looked up to. And when I was 8, he gave me a little Ladybug pin for my bookbag. And he said 'one day, when I'm gone, I want you to know, that you are so lucky Marinette. You have people that love you..,,and would do anything for you. Don't forget that Marinette." Her eyes grew blurry, water building up in the corners.

"But less than a week later..... He got really sick..,and didn't make it. I was scared that if I let someone know my secret...they would use it against me. But....i trust You." she wiped the tears from her eyes, and looked down onto the bed.

"Thank you for telling me that Marinette." Adrien pulled her into a hug, which she quickly responded to. She wrapped her arms around his body.

"My dad left when I was 8 too. I thought the whole world was against me.....and I did for my whole life....until you came along Marinette." Adrien pulled her out of the hug, and placed his hands on her shoulders.

"You're special. You know that?" Adrien asked.

"Yeah....I do now." She hugged him again, burying her face in his chest.

"You're my favorite Adrien." she mumbled.

"Favorite what?"

"Favorite......" She said, squeezing him again.

Adrien chuckled

"You don't have to answer that." he told her.

"You're my Favorite person." Marinette's voice was muffled.

"Hmm...I doubt it" Adrien said

"Oh my gosh Adrien. " Marinette sat up, putting her hands on her hips.

"Don't you dare say things like that. You have been there for all of my embarrasing and stupid moments since the day I got here. And that was like a month ago. You've made me feel better every time, even though you didn't know me then." She poked his chest playfully.

Adrien chuckled, his face turning red.

"Ya know Mari.....I've had a crush on you since the day I met you...but I didn't realize it until today." He scratched the back of his neck, glancing away from her.

"Me too....." She said, cheeks hot.

Adrien looked at her, a goofy grin spread across his face.

Just then, the sound of the door downstairs was heard faintly in the distance.

The sound of feet on the steps made its way up the stairs.

A women who looked in her early fourties, about 5' 5" walked into the room. She had the same dazzling green eyes as Adrien, and the same golden blonde hair.

There was no doubt that beautiful women was Adrien's mom.

"Hi mom." Adrien waved to her, sitting in the edge of the bed.

She waved back with a smile.

"Hi son."

She looked over to Marinette.

"You must be Marinette." The women greeted her with a warm smile, setting a bag down by Adrien's nightstand.

Marinette nodded.

"Adrien, honey, why don't you go downstairs and start dinner?" She asked.

"Of course mom." Adrien waved to the two girls, walking out and closing the door behind him.

"Adrien doesn't usually bring girls home." The women said with a smile.

Marinette's face went hot.

"He's only had one other girlfriend, and that was in the 6th grade." The women chuckled, sitting on the edge of the bed.

Marinette's face was shocked.

How could someone so hot not date anyone? How was he interested in me???

"Really?" Marinette asked, her brows arched in confusion.

"It's true. But it seems he's taken a liking to you...he talks about you sometimes. " She told her.

"He...He does?" Marinette returned.

"Yes dear. You are a beautiful young lady. Adrien is stubborn sometimes, and he can be a bit hard to deal with, but I promise you, he's a good guy." His mother smiled, nodding to assure Marinette.

"Yeah...he is. Thank you Mrs. Agreste."

They continued on with a simple conversation, while Adrien's mother checked Marinette.

Marinette tried her best to be helpful, making it easier on Mrs.Agreste.

Mrs. Agreste was done, but told Marinette to rest, which she did easily. She was out like a light in no time.

Mrs. Agreste joined Adrien for dinner.

"Is she okay?" Adrien's face laced with concern, since Marinette wasn't coming down for dinner.

"She's fine, no concussion, but she needs to rest, less chance of over-thinking of stressing." His mother sat down at the table beside him, taking a bite of mashed potatoes.

"Oh that's good." Adrien said with a sigh of relief.

"She's a good girl Adrien. She is very kind and caring. I think you've made the right choice." his mother smiled over to him.

"Yeah." He grinned at the thought of him and Marinette together.

"You have to treat her well Adrien, she doesn't deserve heatbreak." his mother warned.

"I will mom, I promise."
