*1* A New Home

Note- this is a different story line, so the characters don't meet in the same days and don't always act the same.

(I'm editing a few things so don't mind any minor changes, I just hated how much I explained lol) 4/22/21
(Also I wrote Marinette to have family in America, looking back it was kinda unnecessary but I figured I'd keep it in for the story sake.)

Nope. Still not Paris. She kept her eyes opened this time.

Marinette was truly acting like a child.
She was 16. She needed to stop dreaming and face the facts.
This wasn't Paris. This was Marsilane. Some stupid town in the middle of who knows where. And the name sounded too similar to her own for her comfort.
The rolling hills were unsettlingly different from the tall city buildings she was used to.
Despite her efforts, no matter how many times she closed her eyes and wished it wasn't true, she wasn't in Paris anymore.

The car sputtered to a stop. Her parents weren't used to driving in winding mountain roads that the town provided.

Marinette looked out the window, and yet again, still not Paris.

Instead, she saw the most run down shack-like home she had ever seen. But being the opptimistic person she was, she decided to try and make the best of it.

"It's not....Ummm.....It's got Windows." She struggled finding things that weren't completely horrible about the place. And her mother noticed it.

"Don't worry sweetie, you'll get used to it." Her mother's sweet voice and calm smile warmed Marinette's heart.

"And besides, don't you want to finally get out of that crowded city?" Her father put an arm around her mother, both staring at Marinette.

"I guess so."

It was nice to have a little privacy, but the wide open spaces reminded her of that in horror movies. Maybe it would be better in the morning.

They had been on the road for days, and she honestly had no idea where they were. But her aunt luckily saved her the hassle of moving their stuff into the home.
The moving van left a couple days before her and her family had, so it got there before them. Her aunt lived about 2 hours away from the new home, and decided to unpack their things while her family headed down there.

But unfortunaley, her aunt couldn't stay. Her husband had gotten the flu and she had to tend to him for the time being.

"You may go check out your room Marinette." her mother gestured to a crooked staircase leading to a small wooden door. Which wasn't a bad thing considering Marinette's small frame.

She was decently short, and had stopped growing at 14 years old. She didnt mind it, though she was the smallest in her class over the years. All except her freshman year, which she managed to file into the average. She didn't miss her school, or really Paris at all. She missed what was in it. Alya.
She was Marinette's only, and best friend. She wore glasses and had medium lengthed brown, auburn-ish hair. It waved perfectly. She was originally Marinettes size, but ended up growing too.

Marinette had been bullied her whole life. It was because she was chinese, Though she didn't look it. She actually looked quite 'American', considering her mother wasn't 'fully' Chinese. But they told her that she was supposed to have brown eyes and black hair. But she had blue hair, along with her mother. Something the doctors could never explain. (I know it's actually just because of the animation but I wrote this when I was 12) Her eyes were an unbelievalble shade of bright blue, mixed with darker blues. And she had light skin and freckles dusting her cheeks and nose.

Her father was from Paris, but he was well versed in the States, considering some of his family was from the U.S, and her mother had family from America too, as well as throughout Asia, but she was mostly Chinese. And it seemed Marinette really was her own kind of race. In every sense of the word. She was unlike anyone else.

She was also an easy target, because she was too kind for her own good, and she was teased for always having her nose in a sketchbook. Sometimes she didn't understand why people hated her so much.

Her body was thin and toned. She had started working out after she got bullied in middle school for being too skinny, so she got on a diet and built up some muscle. Her body, based on its function and society's standards, was absolutely perfect. But that didn't stop Chloe, her main bully.

She just tuned her out and wished everyone would just grow up already. But now this, this was a new start. A new school. A new impression.

She sighed and flopped down onto her bed. Pulling her phone out of her joggers pocket and starting to text Alya.

M😜- hey. Finally made it. It is so much different.

No answer.

"Ugh. It probably didn't even go through. The service sucks." she shoved her face in a pillow. Hiding her face from the boxes of clothes that she had to unpack.

And she soon drifted off to sleep
