Mine
When I saw her walking down the aisle in her dress, I felt like there was a second where I couldn't breathe. Her red hair, her shining blue eyes—everything about her was perfect. She was perfect. My America. She was mine.
I could see her nervous expression when she was headed towards me. She almost looked scared to death, being escorted down the aisle by Aspen. She was breathtaking. The shy smile she gave to the crowd filled my heart with love. This girl was mine. She was all mine.
Her face lit up when she finally looked at me standing there. Her eyes were sparkling, and I could tell that she was in love. She was in love with me, and I couldn't believe it.
As Aspen placed her hand in mine, I whispered hello to my dear. She grinned back and me and whispered back. I grabbed her hands like they were my rock, the only thing that could keep me grounded. And really, they were.
It all seemed to pass by in a blur, but when it was over, I knew she was mine for good. I never thought that I would find love in the most unexpected of ways. I didn't think the beaming, redheaded Five from Carolina would turn out to be the person I would want to spend the rest of my life with.
She is the best thing that's ever been, and ever will be, mine.
