Chapter 13

Silence. I look at Gally who seems just as shocked as I am. "Alby, is there no other way?" Gally pleads.

Alby simply shakes his head, answering Gally's question. "Alby please! I'm begging you, please let us be together." I cry desperately.

I don't want Gally to be banished but I don't think I'd be capable of staying away from him. It's not possible.

Alby takes a deep breath, "I understand this must be quite a shock to you. I'm trying my best here but the only way to make sure this kind of thing won't happen again is to keep you two away from each other."

I glance at Gally, noticing that his face is red in anger. I can tell that he hates the idea of this just as much as me.

I discretely slip my hand into his, making him quickly respond by entwining our fingers together.

I want to support Gally as much as possible in this situation, however I know what this will lead to.

Gally immediately relaxes squeezes my hand as if in appreciation. It turns quiet again while Gally and I make a silent decision.

I trust him completely so whatever he chooses I will be fine with. Hopefully.

Gally takes a deep breath before speaking again. "Alright." Wait what?

His hand lets go of mine, leaving me to lower my hand to my side. What did he just say? I must have heard it wrong...

Alby tilts his head slightly, "You sure?" He asks, making sure he heard Gally correctly too. Gally nods his head in agreement.

Two of the Gladers grab Gally, one for each side. They harshly clench his arms, dragging him away to the Slammer.

As he walks past I swear I hear him whisper, "I'm so sorry." I don't even look his way. I know if I even glance at him my heart will just shatter.

How could he do this to me? He could have tried harder surely, did I really mean that little to him?

I stop questioning myself and just head to Homestead. I can't handle this right now, so I'm just going to escape it all through sleep.

I don't even bother getting changed, today's been exhausting already. Just one quick nap and I'll be fine.

However, my nap was cut short when I hear Chuck practically shouting in my ear. "Y/n get up! Gally wants to speak to you."

I let out a loud, over-exaggerated sigh. "I don't want to talk to him Chuck! You can't make me." Honestly, I don't think I could face seeing Gally after what he's done.

"Y/n please! It's not what it looks like! Gally's going to make it his mission to keep you two together! Just talk to him."

A plan? Surely there's no way around this, Alby said so. I'm too interested in what Gally's got up his sleeve to ignore him further.

I groan and heave myself off the bed, following Chuck to the Slammer. Shuck, I must have slept for a long time because it's starting to get dark out.

All the torches scattered around are lit, showing a clear path around each area of the Glade.

After barely 5 minutes of walking Chuck raises his hand and points his finger at a particular cell. "He's in that one."

I nod my head in understanding, "Thanks Chuck." He sends me a huge smile in return before walking off. Well, it's now or never I guess.

I approach the cell Chuck pointed to. "Chuck just go away, leave me alone." I can recognise that voice from anywhere. I walk closer and see Gally huddled up in a corner.

"It's not Chuck." This causes Gally to turn around suddenly and face me. His eyes light up in happiness, God he looks so beautiful.

"Y/n! I didn't think that you'd actually come, thank you." He send a genuine smile which causes me to do the same.

I need to stay focused. "What's your plan Gally?"
