Friends and Forgiveness

Song had opened the door to see Creed stretched out on the couch, with his legs hanging over the arm.

"Still mad?" Song asked as she approached him.

"Yeah," he sat up and slid over so she could sit beside him. "I'm was so angry with him, I hadn't been that mad in a long time. I didn't go over there to pick a fight. I went there to be a friend and brother, to support him. He just came off on me. It's like a part of me what to cut him off forever, like never see you again, but then...." he trailed off.

"If I cut him off like that, then what did all of those years of brotherhood mean? If I let one argument destroy everything, can I truly say that I loved him like a brother?"

"Well, when Kai, Onyx and myself starting growing distant, I felt the need to push them away because they wouldn't be upfront with me. But like you said, if we let the little things destroy our relationships then if wasn't that strong to begin with. It's a harsh reality, but real nonetheless it's real." Song replied, completely understanding where he was coming from.

"When my father died, I had to work so hard to make a name for myself, to become somebody as a Shadowhunter. In the SSS, every ounce of respect must be earned. I fought against the doubters and made something out of myself. I made my own name in honor of my father, I couldn't use my father's honor to make my name. Onyx is known because of who his parents are, not for what his hands have wrought. Nothing against that, but it's a different plight." Creed explained.

"You know that Onyx can be quick to anger, and what he said he meant in the moment, but not from the bottom of his heart. He listens to you and values your opinion and friendship. But emotions can change us, and when they overwhelm us we are not ourselves" Song reassured him.

"Yeah, I know if he asks for forgiveness I will forgive him," Creed admit.

"And you know that what he said isn't true. You may have felt like that at one point, but you know that my dad and I love and care about you. If something happened to you, it would hurt us." She place her hand on top of his.

Creed smiled, "I know, it just stirred up some old feelings. Also, when I told him that his mother put your life in danger and wounded your father, it was like those words didn't even resonate with him. Brother's love and protect what the other loves and protects." Creed sighed in frustration.

"Well, I saw him at the hospital, after I visited his mother," Song told Creed.

"Is there a particular reason that you went to visit her?"

"She called for me, and she gave me some information. It could be valuable." Song replied.

"Well, what it?" Creed asked. Song did not get a chance to reply because there was a knock on the door. Song rose from the couch and opened the door.

And there was Onyx, his eyes met Creed's 'gray' ones, "Creed," he called to him, pushing past Song as he came inside the house.

"I'll leave you two to talk," Song said quickly before darting upstairs.

Creed wished that Song would have stayed as a reminder of their positive conversation, just in case Onyx pissed him off again. He kept his back turned to Onyx.

"Creed, I'm sorry for what I said, I was just so angry, not at you! I took it out on you, and I'm sorry. You've worked hard for everything you have, and you've had my back through so much. Really, I don't even have the words to express what I'm feeling and what I regret."

"You don't know just how much you pissed me off," he turned to face Onyx. "I didn't have to tell you anything, but I did, so you could see her. Not the monster that attacked Song, but the mother that you remember last."

"Creed, I know I was selfish, I didn't see it at all. I do care about Song's safety and I wish the whole incident didn't happen. But a good came out of it, now that she's her normal self. The two of you gave me my mother back, once again, my friends always come through on my behalf. This was the first time that I realized that my personality needs a lot of work, if I'm going to become anything. Being hot headed nearly destroyed our relationship, but if you give me a second chance, I'll work harder to worthy of your friendship." Onyx confessed.

Creed smiled and walked towards him, "You're not the only one who needs work, I have to be more forgiving myself, because had I not cooled off, I would've punched you through the wall and left, right after Song went upstairs. And trust me, I was thinking about it. But as badly as I wanted to cut you out of my circle, something kept probing my mind: if I let one bad argument destroy a lifetime of brotherhood, was I really your brother? And I couldn't answer yes. That's when I knew that I had to forgive you." He put his hand on Onyx shoulder.

Onyx sat down on the couch, "I was scared, I'd die for my mother any day, a thousand times in a thousand ways. The thought of her being gone, was about to break me because I know how much I need her. She has always been my balance. I'm trying to be mother, father, and brother for my sister, and give her the best protection and love that I can, that sometimes I feel like I'm losing myself. It's been a challenge, but my personality has pushed a lot of people away when they only want to help me."

Creed sat beside him, "Well, I don't budge to easily, if you haven't noticed."

Onyx laughed, "Yeah, you can be quite persistent."

"Hey, let's just put this behind us. Let's move forward, better and stronger than before," Creed extended his hand. Onyx looked him in the eye, and shook his hands. Creed continued, "Now that's behind us. Let's talk to Song about her new information that she got from your mother."

"Yeah, I saw her leaving as I was coming in. Hopefully, it's something that can give us an edge because we need it." Onyx replied. He knew he needed to tell them about his father, but he was going to wait until Song came downstairs. He was going to need them, especially if things took a turn for the worst.
