Travel

Since I was a little girl, I have loved nature, I love animals. My parents have always taken me to the park or for long walks.

In school, I couldn't wait for every year's trips. At first we were visiting all around Slovenia. Well we were kids, and teachers didn't want to worry about our well being through the trips. So at first they took to see all the Slovenian beauties. Now, when I am trying to remember where I have been, there are so many places, and I almost forgot how beautiful they are. I've been to Kolpa, Kranjska gora, Bled, Cerkniško jezero, sea side. We have it all, the mountains, lakes, rivers, the forest and the sea side. Our little Country with 2 million people has it all.

When we passed the higher grades, we were able to travel to foreign Countries. So of course our first trip was to Gardaland. Big adrenalin park is close by the Lago di Garda, beautiful Gard lake. I've enjoyed adrenaline park very much. Honestly I've been going back there a few times till now, and i think i will soon visit it again. I love almost every ride there. I am aware that I have vertigo, but it has never stopped me from going on crazy rides. Only big hammer and free fall is no go for me. Only a very special person would get me to those two.

Nevertheless, after the end of High school we visited Balkan Countries, like Serbia and Bosnia. Those Countries have their own style of living. The old ways are strong there. Some people still believe in witchcraft and witches, omens and tarot. Many older ladies know how to tell the future from a coffee cup. They have really strong coffee, I must say. However, I didn't try the reading from the cup.

As teenagers, we weren't interested in those things. We were a few months or even days before our 18th birthdays. We wanted to see Budva and party hard. I had my eighteenth birthday there. We celebrated with a big cake and quite a lot of alcohol. We tried some smokes for the first time, and a few of my friends got lost in the city centre. We made a lot of trouble for our teacher that night, and a few grey hairs.

So after that I went to college. I was taking 101 business and management classes. First year was so boring and I didn't like to study. I wanted to break free, going around, drinking and partying. I had missed half of my classes and at the end of the semester I had like a thousand page book to learn. I was so stressed out, I almost put studying aside and got a job. After a few weeks I somehow figured my way through and kept on going. I was one curse close to finishing my first year, but it didn't happen. So I had to do something about it next year. Well in year two I did what had left from the first year and added some second year classes. There I found my passion for IT studies and with it I got my motivation to proceed with studying. In year two we could choose our field of studies, and I chose Business informatics. Here in my IT classes, every year there was a trip to different Countries. It was a Microsoft sponsored trip, so we had to visit at least one Microsoft company while travelling.

First year in, we travelled to Serbia again, so I was familiar with the Country. Only difference was that I was older, and I have a friend with us, who was from that Country. She was my guide around the hidden pubs.

Speaking pubs. How about coffee shops? The Netherlands have few of them. We were there in May 2009. I have been 20 years old, and I wanted to experience it all. So I went with my friends to one of those coffee shops. There were five of us, so we gave 5€ each, collected the money and my friend chose "the right stuff". Hahaha, well " the right stuff" didn't work, there was too much tobacco in it. Hey, the choice was good for one person and not five. What was very interesting, Amsterdam has an anti- smoking policy. So we could smoke weed indoors, but when I wanted to light my cigarette they sent me outside. But smoking weed outside was also a big no no there. If the police get you, there will be a ticket. We have also visited the famous red street. You can find everything there, everything, different people, different tastes right. It's legal there and well, every job should be respected, right?
Did you know that Amsterdam people are mostly atheists, and that big Church in the middle of the City is a museum. Amsterdam, the sinking City. While i was there, it was 2 metres below the sea surface and as i know it still is. Mostly they are driving bicycles, buying a car there is very expensive, and it is really hard to get the drivers licence. Overall it's a clean City, no matter the big canal. Every year they have a big celebration, a big event when they can throw in that canal, whatever they can lift and well, throw in there. So that day everyone double-chain their bicycles. Once they even succeeded in pushing Smart cars there. Amsterdam gave me quite a few good stories.

Rotterdam on the other hand is the industrial part of the Netherlands. There is the largest ship dock in Europe, 40 kilometres long. Rotterdam is mostly foggy and well it doesn't really smell good around. Netherlands balances out Rotterdams bad air, with Amsterdams fresh air. That's all I can remember from Rotterdam, this part of the trip was pretty boring for me.

In the next few years we visited Berlin, Warsaw and Prague. Those cities were mostly party Cities. So we did what we came for there. Different pubs, restaurants and nightclubs. Otherwise we saw the Berlin wall and visited Krakow. Auschwitz- Birkenau, the most saddest, immoral thing that ever happened.

Let me just brighten the mood up a bit, and conclude this chapter with my best trip with my university colleagues. DUBLIN! We flew there in 2011, when this big Islander eruption happened. We were all nervous and wondering if we would even fly there. Airports were now open and in the next minute closed. Airports had grave losses that week. But we made it there, after two hours of unpleasant flight. Unpleasant? Yes, for the whole two hours i was listening to the people around us how our motor will stop working and we will fall down. Teacher reaction: "It would take only a few seconds, we would barely notice!" My mind was spinning: "Oh, God, help me! " I put my music on and try to think of other things. But as I said before, we made it!

In a week of visiting Dublin, we were at the local Hostel, from where we were taking different bus tour rides, discovering pubs and wandering through the streets.

There is one particularly unpleasant experience I will ever remember, but is actually quite funny too. Our third day in, after our Guinness brewery visit, we decided it's a great time to take a walk to Dublin's zoo. We were walking for half an hour, with big map of Dublin in direction we decided that could be the one. We were twirling that map around and around, but still there was no sight of the zoo before us. Thank God of a nice Irish man, who was passing by and saw how lost we are. When we told him, where we want to go, he shook his head, put his palm on his forehead head and said: " Zoo, oh, that's miles away! In other direction!" So for an half an hour we were walking away from zoo, not the other way around! But as nice he was, he told us the best and fastest way there. Even then, our zoo tour was short, we have only one hour time to see the animals, normal zoo tour take four hours. You get the picture, right?
" Oh, hello elephant. Bye, elephant!", " Hello camel!". Bye, camel!" I have time only to take a few photos of the red panda, my favourite animal in that zoo.

There are so many other things that happened during those trips. I could write a story only on that. But here, this is not the point of my story. I have always loved trips, car rides, plane flights, I really love to move around. I hate routine and bland lifestyle! For everything we need money. So there was much time before I visited another Country. I left my heart and soul in that Country, and soon I will live and work there. Well, I hope so! But that is another story to tell!
