[Chapter 17]: Threatened
Kirishima POV
This situation felt all too familiar. I shifted in my hiding spot beside the lockers; eyes glued to that same indigo-haired kid I ran into a few days ago as I barely peeked out from behind the locker. I couldn't hear what was unfolding between him and Mineta, but I could tell it was intense.
"I should intervene..." I held my breath; deep in thought.
Everything inside me wanted to step in, but something was holding me back. I clenched a fistful of my uniform top as I watched Mineta begin to retreat from the tall, furious boy. I didn't even have to see Mineta's face to tell he was terrified. Mineta is a troublesome individual, but there's no way he has beef with a kid from General Studies.
"Come on Eijiro...cowering away isn't manly." I internally scolded myself; preparing to step in. Before I could move, my muscles tensed and my eyes squinted in confusion at the scene unfolding before me.
Mineta was still, and the Indigo-haired boy whispered something into his ear before smirking as Mineta turned in my direction. His eyes were dull as he began to march directly towards me.
"Shit...shit...shit, that has to be his quirk. Mineta's eyes have never looked like that." I panicked internally as I ducked back behind the locker; holding my breath as the steps inched closer. Of course; the one day I'm late to class, I get caught up in this.
Mr. Aizawa is going to kill us.
After a few seconds, Mineta passed right by me emotionlessly and trudged into the restroom.
I shot my eyes back to the spot where the Indigo-haired kid stood before, but he was long gone.
I gotta make sure Mineta is alright.
I sighed as I inched towards the bathroom door; slowly pushing it open and entering. The sound of crumbling paper slowly filled my ears.
"Hey...Mineta are you alright? I saw what happened...and I-
All of the color drained from my face as my eyes landed on a bottomless Mineta standing in the middle of the restroom, trying desperately to shove a bloodied crumpled paper into his rear end.
"Dude what the fuck are you doing!" I whisper screamed; panicking as I rushed to his side. His eyes were dull, it was like he didn't even know I was there. He didn't even flinch as he continuously slammed the crumbled paper into his backside robotically. I took a step back; swallowing thickly as I tried to figure out what to do.
"This is definitely that kid's quirk."
I sighed before I gripped Mineta's bloody wrists and held them away from his body.
"Mineta...dude...s-snap out of it." I sputtered as he began to fight back; hell-bent on finishing what he started. I began to shake him in an attempt to snap him out of it, but his stiff, lifeless body just wasn't reacting to it.
"damn...what do I do." I inhaled sharply; analyzing the situation. There is only one other way I can think of solving this.
"Hopefully this works," I whispered to myself before my palm collided with the side of Mineta's face. I flinched as his stiff half-naked body hit the ground immediately after with a loud thud that echoed throughout the empty bathroom.
"If anyone walks in...I'm done..." I facepalmed as I watched the boy groan in pain.
I stood frozen in the middle of the restroom; regret beginning to rise within me as his terrified eyes met mine.
"What...the fuck...did you do to me?" He croaked; peering down at his bloodied hands as he began trembling. I began to slowly inch towards him.
"Mineta...I didn't do anything...it- " Mineta flinched back against the wall as I extended a hand out to him, his wide eyes were filled with mortal terror. I felt my heart drop into the depths of my empty stomach.
"Fuck."
"K-Kirishima...stay away...." He threatened in a shaky, serious tone; placing a trembling hand on an indigo ball atop his head.
"This isn't going to end well."
My heart began to race as I tried to figure out what I could do or say that wouldn't throw him into a panic.
"Mineta...." I let out a shaky breath; lowering my hand, and parting my lips slightly. He still hadn't moved from his defensive position against the tile wall. "I know this is traumatizing for you...but you need to listen please..." I whispered as calmly as I could; my eyes wandering down to the crumpled paper, shoes, and pants on the floor between us.
"This looks bad."
"Kirishima...w..what did you do to me?" He whispered; wincing as he pulled his shoes and pants towards him, covering his lower half with the uniform pants.
"That Indigo-haired kid used his quirk on you...do you remember?"
I muttered; shifting back and forth on my feet as Mineta stayed silent.
"I know how this looks, but I think that kid's quirk made you do this to yourself." I continued; squeezing my eyes shut, hoping he would remember.
"Y-You hit me...and...and...your hands..." He whispered; pointing a shaky finger towards me. I shot my eyes down to my hands. There were scarlet streaks on my palms.
"Fuck...this looks so bad."
"Mineta...you're not listening. I promise I didn't do this to you." Irritation began to rise in my tone as I stared down at the trembling boy.
"I found you here, hurting yourself, and I tried to help you." I continued slowly in an attempt to get him to understand. Tears began to well up in my eyes at the sight of Mineta's unchanging, hate-filled eyes.
"What kind of hero am I?"
Suddenly, the sound of the door creaking open filled the restroom. I flinched before rushing over to the door, my eyes immediately locking with bright cyan eyes.
"Hey...Kirishima are you okay...class started ten minutes ago and Mr. Aizawa asked me t-." He squinted his eyes in concern as he took in my appearance. I swallowed thickly as I placed my hands behind my back; blocking the doorway subtlety.
"H-Hey...M-Midoriya...I'm all good dude...I guess the time just got away from me." I chuckled softly; shooting him a sharp-toothed smile. His appearance didn't waver.
"Hey...If you need anyone to talk to...I'm always open." He smiled softly; his eyes glowing with reassurance.
"Thanks, Midoriya, tell Mr. Aizawa I'm sorry...I'll be back there in five minutes," I muttered; biting my lip to stop it from quivering. I could faintly hear Mineta moving in the background.
"Will do...Kirishima, have you seen Mineta anywhere, he's absent too." He continued as he ran a hand through his cyan curls; attempting to look past me. My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Mineta's name. I instantly tensed up; still not moving from my spot in the doorway.
"Uh...I...n-no I haven't seen him," I muttered; not making eye contact with the boy.
"Alright, I hope he's alright..." He smiled softly; beginning to try to walk past me. "I just have to use the restroom real q-"
"Wait...Midoriya uh...wait." I sputtered as I blocked the walkway; my heart began to pound in my chest as I watched his eyes become soft.
"This is really bad."
"Kirishima I won't judge you if you were having stomach problems." He smiled softly; continuing to try to pass me. I stopped him dead in his tracks with a hand out in front of him.
"Midoriya...." His eyes filled with concern upon seeing the seriousness in my face. "Just...please go back to class." I lowered my voice to a whisper.
"I-Is everything alright, you don't look so-" He gasped as his eyes landed on my bloody hand. I instantly flinched back and began trembling. "Kirishima...what happened?" He questioned lowly; His bright eyes becoming a terrifying new serious.
"Midoriya...you can't say anything about this, just leave," I whispered lowly, narrowing my eyes at the boy.
"There's no other way...he won't believe me either."
"Sorry...I can't do that, move or I'm going to have to make you." He threatened; A spark of green flashing in his dark eyes.
Panicking, I pulled him into the restroom and pushed him against the door; hardening my hand into a blade and softly pressing it against his neck.
"I don't want to hurt you Midoriya..." I uttered lowly into his ear. Midoriya's eyes were wide in shock as he stood frozen. "Go back to class and don't say anything about this, or I will...hurt you." I released my quirk and stood back. Praying that he would just comply. He let out a sharp breath as he narrowed his eyes; his posture remaining relaxed.
"This isn't heroic at all...I'm a disgrace."
"Kirishima...just know, if I find out that the blood on your hand isn't your own, I won't need to tell anyone, 'll take you down myself." He threatened lowly, adjusting his tie before exiting.
Once the door clicked shut, tears began to stream down my face as I made my way back to Mineta. He flinched and placed a hand on his head upon laying eyes on me.
"Please don't hurt me...." He weakly whispered. He had his pants and shoes back on now. I felt broken, I'm just digging a deeper grave every time I talk.
I took a deep breath as I marched over to Mineta, ignoring his whimpers and lifting him to his feet by the collar of his shirt as I hardened my hand once again.
"I'm only going to say this once," I whispered as I placed my hand against his throat. "I need you to wash your hands and make sure there is no blood visible anywhere in this restroom...okay?" I tried to sound less threatening but obviously holding my quirk against him wasn't helping.
"O..okay..." He whimpered. I released my quirk and wiped away the last of my tears as Mineta threw the crumpled paper away before washing his hands at the lowered sink.
"I promise I'll find the guy who did this to you and make sure he pays," I uttered emotionlessly as I watched the scarlet-colored blood drain down the sink as I washed my hands.
"Alright Mineta, the class is waiting for us, lets go." I smiled softly down to the boy as he nodded. I felt a part of me die as we exited the restroom and strode towards the huge 1-A door.
