Chapter Thirty one- Friday nights.

Olympia and I had spent two hours on the roof of our house, talking about everything and anything. She encouraged me to be honest with Millie tonight, so that I could stop torturing myself about Ava, and commit myself to Millie without anything dragging us down further. I wanted to tell her she was being hypercritical since she wouldn't tell Cam she loved him, she wouldn't even tell me she loved him, but I was hopeful my sister would one day feel comfortable enough that she would share it with me. I wish she would. I was guessing Camilla was a form of torture she was currently enduring silently, although she clearly had found happiness with Daisy, a girl who was making her smile again, and excited once more to wake up every day. I really, really, really loved Daisy for Olympia. It felt like Daisy was the person that O had been waiting for, someone just for her. Unlike the ex boyfriend, I could see O actually falling for Daisy, and it being the first taste of love that she could finally enjoy, and have fun with, innocently.

I put on a little dress, that I knew Millie liked. It was pretty, and light blue, and Millie said it matched my eyes. She also said it gave her a great view of my breasts, but let's not focus on the sexual side of this date. I didn't think it would even get to a passionate kiss, let alone touching or the removing of this dress. Millie may not ever want to touch me again, that was the truth, once she heard who had done in her absence.

We weren't together, a fact, it wasn't cheating, a fact I didn't quite believe, because I felt as guilty as I would probably have if I had cheated on her. She had told me she didn't care about the details whilst we were apart, but I'm pretty sure that's because she didn't anticipate the details to include my ex girlfriend.

When I thought about Millie, I thought about her in the now, here with me, working it out. Then I thought about her six months from now and figuring out our living situation together. In a year from now we would be domesticated and loving life, in two years from now getting engaged, three, having her become Mrs's Millie Nomikos, and in six years from now I saw us holding our babies and living our why. I saw her there with me, in every day, in every month, and in every year... for as long as I was breathing. Millie had to forgive me, without her my future vanished right before my eyes, because she was it, she was it.

I came down the stairs to my Moms stood there at the bottom. My Mom had her arms wrapped around my Mama from behind, and her chin on her shoulder.

"There's our first" Mom observed as I walked down the last couple of steps.

Mama reached out and adjusted the strap on my dress for me, cupping my chin briefly with a loving gaze, once she had "You look perfect my darling" she observed.

"Millie is lucky to have you" Mom said, releasing my Mama and coming around her to hug me. She held me tight. "And you her" she whispered, before kissing my forehead.

"I'm not sure she's been lucky to have the me of late, but I'm gonna spend every day going forward making sure she feels like the luckiest girl in the world"

"I know you will" Mom said, taking my Mamas hand beside her. "We know you love her"

The ring on the doorbell makes me jump "whose that" I asked.

"Aunty Avery" Mom said going to the door and opening it up.

She walked in and smiled "Hey family, oooh Wren looking gorgeous. Whose the lucky girl? Millie?" She asked.

I nodded "Yes, Aunty Ave... I think you met" I replied teasingly. I gestured toward her "and whose got you all dressed up? A date?"

Mom grabbed her by the arms, and pretended to warm her up, rubbing at her shoulders "Aunty Avery is going out on a second date" she announced. "It's the first woman whose made it passed the first date in over a year"

"She must be something" Mama asked her.

Avery blushed a little and Mom squealed at her "She's blushing Harps... our Avery Lane is blushing... I'm absolutely pumped for this date"

Mama looked at her questionably, and cocked an eyebrow "Theodora don't sound so excited, like you want to go"

Mom let go of Avery and lifted Mama over her shoulder. Mamas red hair was trailing down her back. Mom slapped her on the butt and jiggled her up and down "I am excited" she returned "It's Friday night" she teased as my Mama laughed. "With my wife"

Bastion came out of the family room with a slice of pizza hanging out of his mouth "What happens Friday night" he asked.

Olympia walked out behind him and laughed at Mamas butt in the air on Moms shoulder "Bash you don't want to know... just don't leave your bedroom after dark on Friday nights"

"Is it Friday now" he asked.

Mom winked "it is"

"Eeew" Olympia and I say, wrinkling up our noses.

"I think it's time you all left" Mom said "Avery enjoy your date, Wren enjoy yours, Olympia be back from Daisy's by Ten thirty"

"And me" Bastion asked "where do I go" he shrugged.

"Teddy put me down, the blood has all rushed to my head" Mama asked.

Mom placed her back on her feet with a little chuckle, and she kissed her quickly, with a cheeky smile. My Mama placed her hand under her chin, squeezing her cheeks to make the smile disappear, and her lips push out "I'll get you later" she said, kissing the pout she created, and releasing her quickly.

"Bash, book, bath and bed for you sir" Mom said, taking his hand and taking him back to the family room "let's finish the pizza first... Mom needs energy for later"

Mama hugged both Olympia and I before we left "I would be glad if you were both in bed and safe in this house by midnight please. No rooftop chats. Let your Mama sleep in peace please"

"I will. Enjoy your night" I said in return, mentally trying to block out the Friday night vibe that was buzzing between my parents.

We stepped outside and shut the door behind us.

Avery's car was a classic Chevrolet Corvette in baby blue. It was awesome. She and Cam both loved the classics, and bonded over them when Cam was only a little guy in elementary school.

The thought of Cam, made me miss him. I hoped I wouldn't have to miss him for too much longer, and our plans for Sunday dinner weren't cancelled. I would be there, I just wasn't confident they would actually turn up. I hated that.

Avery's corvette was sat beside my orange jeep, and Olympia looked between them "Who wants to take me to Daisy's" she asked.

Avery and I both remained silent, to the point we ended up laughing.

"Bitches" Olympia accused, smiling. "I will remember this when one of you is drunk and needs a ride home from the little sister"

"Well, which way are you going Wren. One of us must be passing Daisy's" Avery asked.

"I'm heading left at the exit, north to Lake Oswego. Im picking up Mills"

Avery nodded "Im heading south, my date is an hours drive"

"An hour" Olympia gasped "that's commitment" she nodded impressed "to the woman, and to the date"

"She's special" Avery blushed again.

"Wow" Olympia and I both noted "You got it bad"

Avery shrugged "so what if I have. And anyway, she's meeting me halfway. She's got an hour drive too"

"It's mutual" Olympia commented out loud. "We love a balanced power share. This is a good start Aunty Ave. Daisy is the right hand turn, south is perfect for me. Thanks" she said, going down the steps to the Corvette. She waved at me "You got this Wren" she called over the car "I love you"

"Love you too" I called back.

Avery took her keys from her smart trousers pocket, she looked good, and smelt wonderful. Her long blonde hair was up in a bun, her shaved undercut visible. She was wearing a really nice short sleeved white shirt, her tattoos on her biceps on display. Avery was the perfect mix of femme and Masc, she didn't conform to either, but enjoyed being between them. I think she had perhaps been a little more femme back when she met her wife, but now she was single and older she seemed to find her own style and what she liked, and she certainly looked and seemed to feel more confident in her skin recently.

"It sounds like tonight is important" Avery asked me "everything okay"

I took a deep breath and jingled my own keys in my hand "it is... and I hope so" I say honestly. "Where are you going for your date" I asked.

"A little restaurant in downtown Corvallis, it has a rooftop bar. I've heard good things. It's a perfect spot tonight. It's gonna be warm out"

I mentally noted it down "sounds like a good spot. Enjoy the date. I can't wait to hear about it... and this mysterious woman with no name" I tease.

"Thanks" she laughed, walking down the steps to her car "you too Wren. See you for a catch up next time you're in town. I promise to tell you then...if she lets me" she joked.

I got into the jeep and watched Avery and Olympia drive off ahead of me. I was super curious about Avery's mystery date. Any other night I may have secretly driven down to peek with Olympia at who this woman was. Tonight though, I couldn't think of anything but getting to my baby...

It's time. I'm ready.

W- On my way 🤍
