I'm Haunted.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Author's POV

Jungkook sighed in relief as soon as he entered Jimin's house with Taehyung following behind him while holding Min-Ha in his arms. He plopped himself on one of the couches and watched the older carrying the baby girl around before settling her in her own crib. It occurred to him that Min-Ha is now under his responsibility and to think he was never one of those who were good with kids, he could only hope that he will get through this.

After all, Jimin did promise to pay him a heavy amount of money and that was enough for him to accept the offer. He sighed as he shrugged off the thoughts. This is it. For now, this is his life. At least this will give him a little bit of distance from his official job. No bad moments, no perverted old men, and no cruel customers; just a baby to take care of. Hmm… that doesn't sound too awful to Jungkook.

He focused on the crib again before taking a deep breath. Should he go and check up on her? Because it's been hours and not once did he look after her. Even more, he distanced himself from the kid; asking Taehyung to take care of her for hours. Did he feel terrible? Yeah. But is he going to do anything about it? Nah. The more his hands were itching to hold Min-Ha in his arms, to feel her weight and to hold her very existence; the more he ignored his feelings and set them aside.

If ignoring is a talent, he would already receive many awards for being extremely good at it. He, himself, doesn't know why he is torturing his soul by doing this. What's wrong with having a little connection to Min-Ha? She's just a baby after all so it really shouldn't be a problem. YET, it is one when it comes to the general's daughter. Everything seems wrong, felt wrong, or just completely wrong.

He couldn't explain it in detail but for example when Taehyung held Min-Ha in his arms; he felt wrong all over. As if he is the one who should carry her and not the older one. Or just now when Taehyung fed her while he only watched them from afar; the scene looked wrong in his eyes. As if he is the one who should be in that place and not his best friend.

But again, who was HE to say something like that?

After a while of fighting and considering things, he concluded not to and decided to take a shower before thinking about having a long nap. That sounds like a good idea, Jungkook finalized. His body was still tired and a slight bit sore from yesterday's intercourse so a little rest won't hurt, right? Besides, Taehyung is here, surely the old man will take care of Min-Ha.

Great, that sounds like a plan; he thought before standing up. A groan of relaxation left his mouth as he stretched his weary body, unknowingly the action caught his best friend's attention. "Where are you going?" He glanced at Taehyung before a yawn escaped his mouth as he answered; showing how tired he is for the day. "I was thinking of having a bath before I went to sleep. The session earlier exhausted me."

Taehyung did not say a word but Jungkook could understand it very well, the facial utterance. His dear friend wanted to ask about Min-Ha yet again, did he even care about her? Jokes on you if you think Jungkook is and will ever be. On another day, he probably will coerce the older one to say what he is pondering about, but since it is regarding Min-Ha; he appreciated it very much that the other closed his mouth. He didn't want to talk about it, he rather suffered in hell.

Quietness swathed the living room as Jungkook took that as a cue to leave them both alone. He sauntered up the stairs before going straight to the master bedroom; where Jimin had given Jungkook the authorization to stay during his days of taking care of the general's daughter. The young man didn't give a thought about it much, as long as the bed is comfortable then he was cool and remained unbothered.

Reaching the room, he immediately opened the door and was surprised to be greeted by the very elegant design of the room. The thing is, half of the room was coloured in the usual A.R.M.Y green shade which; he hates every time yet for some reason he couldn't help but feel welcomed, accepted, and embraced– as a home would feel.

And seriously, Jungkook is not one of those human beings that always wanted to know what happened in other people's life. He didn't give a fuck if his neighbor get murdered, if a house was on fire, if the world shaking or anything and he certainly did not plan to give one now. But oh well, we are all human in the end, aren't we? He might have a tiny bit of curiosity that irked him to look around.

Hence, of course, he did.

The first thing he noticed was there are two 4-layer-drawers in matte black color which were positioned beside each other while facing the bed from the right side. What caught his attention was not them though– he couldn't care less– but instead; those photo frames that were placed more neatly than ever on the drawers. That; caught his doe's eyes as they glowed in interest on who is the one in the picture.

Without thinking much further, he walked forward to the place before slowly bending his body to get a clear sight. His eyebrows raised in confusion the more he looked at them one by one, all of them containing only two people in the pictures and the posing was almost identical. Jungkook didn't have to take a spare second to recognize that Jimin was in the photo as his face was evidently taken, it was obvious… And even in old images; the older looked handsome.

Perhaps the general just one of the luckiest people alive to be born looked like this or Jungkook is just a simp for the older.

As much as he loves staring at Jimin in those pictures, his curious self can't help but look at the other person as he keeps an eye on them carefully. Weirdly, none of the prints showed the other's entire complexion. It was either the person showed their back to the camera, or they covered their faces with the soldier cap. That only left their delicate lips on display as they curved in a soft smile.

However, Jungkook was convinced that the unknown soldier was also a male. Judging by his lean body physique and his height which is probably two or three inches taller than the general himself, there's no way they are female… But again, who is he? He can't be just a prosaic person in Jimin's life. There are almost 7 frames here on display and all of them include him so there's no way he was just no one, Jungkook concluded.

Was he a brother?

A best friend?

A mate?

Jungkook grabbed one of the frames and stared at their posing with questions filled his head. The fellow could be everything he had guessed in his mind. If only their position was not too intimate- that he felt like he was third wheeling- despite the fact it was only in photos. So if not all of those he speculated…

Who was he to Jimin?

Jungkook's breath sank by the time it hit him.

"Lover…" He mumbled deferentially, almost painfully. There’s no way that guy is just no one. And to think that all of the pictures had him in them, Jungkook was convinced that the male is his lover. His eyebrows knitted in confusion, if that’s the case then where is he now? Did they separate? Jungkook bit his lower lips in his next speculation- did he die…? Or perhaps ran away?

He sighed as a bunch of questions entered his mind, messing up with his brain and peace. “Why do I even care, it’s not my problem.” He muttered lazily as he put down the frame in his hand back to its position before plopping himself on the bed.

“Ahh… this is nice.” He voiced happily.

Jungkook opened his eyes in confusion, and yelped a little when the bright day blinded his eyes- almost stole away his sight. “What the hell…” He mumbled as he looked around, finally getting a clear view. He was standing in the middle of a garden, the surroundings were filled with butterflies flying around and colorful flowers neatly planted. The space was so big, he literally couldn't see anything else

“Where am I?” He finally remembered that he was in Jimin’s house not so long ago then how is he suddenly here? “Hello??” He called out to no one in particular, trying to see if there’s someone else out here in the garden. But no reply seems to get as he lets his eyes wander around the garden again. No, he wasn't scared… It was just weird.

Without thinking much further, he took his steps forward; hoping he would meet someone on the way. Amazed by the view, his lips formed a smile unknowingly as he started to bother the butterflies by waving his hands all over. Soon, he was all laughing and giggling by himself while walking down the unknown lane as he chased those butterflies that he tried to catch.

He stopped his movements when he heard a sound, or somewhat like a man’s laugh. He glanced around, searching from where it belonged as he proceeded to walk towards what he believed was the voice came from. He took his steps eagerly the more he heard it clear, hearing a woman’s laughter following along. A happy couple, he guessed.

After it feels like an eternity to Jungkook, he finally spotted a big maple tree. He halted his track in bafflement, throughout the whole garden- that was the first tree he ever saw and it’s not only odd to Jungkook with the fact there was no other tree there but what was under it caught his attention. Jungkook stared at an unknown couple as he watched the male laughing with his— he assumed— the wife, as they both were cracking up at what seemed to be their baby behavior.

A wave of ease washed over him as he kept his eyes on the couple. Unnoticed the sight was getting blurry each second past. He doesn't know what is happening but there’s a sudden feeling of peace… a feeling of happiness crawling up inside his veins seeing them behaving sweetly to each other. Yet, at the same time, he feels a deep emotion of sadness that he only realized when a tear dropped on his cheek- bringing him back to reality.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” He asked himself as he harshly wiped off the tear and cleared his throat. He wasted no more time validating his feelings as he paced to the happy couple. Both of them were showing their back to Jungkook, completely unaware of another existence as he kept going on until they were close enough. He opened his mouth to greet them properly but was awestruck when the guy started to hold out the baby up to the sky and that’s when he caught a glimpse of the baby’s face.

“Min-Ha…?” He questioned out loud, legs starting to feel weak.

That action caught both of the parents and they turned around only for Jungkook to almost scream when the male’s looked exactly like him. “What the fuck?!” He uncontrollably freaked out, and stumbled on his back as he backed away from them. Aghast could be seen in his doe’s eyes as he looked at himself holding Min-Ha in his arms. The dude exactly looks like him, there’s no way to justify this situation.

“Who are you?! And why are you holding Min-Ha?!” He shouted like a maniac, pointing out to the man. Completely forgotten the woman who was standing beside the guy. By the time the other spoke, Jungkook felt like he’s mentally ill. The face, the height, the mole and even the voice sounded like him! What is this madness?!

“Excuse me? How do you know her name?”

“Because she is mine! And I’m the one who should take care of her! Now, give her to me!” He yelled as he started to run forward, trying to take Min-Ha from the guy but before he could do anything the whole garden turned dark as he could feel the ground drastically change. He closed his eyes by the sudden shift and yelped in shock.

By the time he opened them, he was in an abandoned room.

He shivered by the stiffness of the atmosphere as he looked around, trying to see what’s going on. It was sudden and he almost lost his mind because of what was happening. He squinted his eyes to have a proper look but was trembling the moment he heard a woman’s cries from nowhere.

“Fuck.” He whispered stressfully, trying hard to maintain his sanity. He controlled his breath as he took a step forward that ended up making a creak sound when he laid his feet on the old wood.

“Please… Please...” He prayed helplessly inside, hearing the woman’s crying. He held out his hand and walked to the side and stopped until he felt a hard cold wide surface; a wall. He closed his eyes as he walked to the front with his hand tracking on it, searching for anything- or atleast, a switch to turn on. His legs started to weaken following the step he took, the cries were getting louder and clearer which means he was getting near to… whatsoever that is crying at the moment.

His breath hitched when he felt a switch at the wall. Now that he had found the solution to the darkness, another problem came out. He’s scared of what will be seen if he turns on the light. Always had been a fan of nail-biter movies but when you need to face it yourself it’s nowhere near fun. Jungkook cursed at himself, imagining the worst-case scenarios in his head; only to make him bothered further.

But then again, what other alternatives does he have than this? One way or another he still needed to see what’s around. And the only way for him to do that was to turn on the light. “Fuck, why is my life so hard?” He whispered to himself, almost whining. It took him a while for him to calm down as he took a deep breath, getting ready for whatever view he will see after this.

*click*

He turned on the light as the cries instantly stopped.

That made Jungkook open his eyes abruptly and left his mouth wide open. He wanted to scream, he wanted to yell, he wanted to move. But he was too terrified with what he was witnessing.

..༺♡༻..

I'm so tired of being here,
Suppressed by all my childish fears,
And if you have to leave,
I wish that you would just leave,
'Cause your presence still lingers here,
And it won't leave me alone.

You used to captivate me by your resonating light,
Now, I'm bound by the life you left behind,
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams,
Your voice chased away all the sanity in me.
