"what the hell?!" came a random voice from outside el's hospital room.

mike and el were shaken awake by the noise, but soon realized it was hopper.

"el what the hell happened!" joyce said as she walked in next to hopper.

"troy got to her. held me and the party back so we couldn't go in and save her. she didn't want to use her powers because then troy would go and tell someone" mike answered for her.

"ah baby i'm sorry. troys an asshole, he's bullied mike and will for ages now" joyce said walking closer to el.

"are we ignoring the fact that i walked in on my daughter sleeping next to a boy?" hopper asked strongly.

"sorry dad" el said quietly.

the 4 talked for an hour before the doctor returned.

"good and bad news, i'll start with good...
you'll be leaving and back home in 3 days!
bad news is... you'll be needing surgery" the doctor said.

"surgery?" el asked mike.

"it's when the doctors cut you open to help fix whatever is hurting you. in your case, they are gonna cut your stomach open and fix your rib" mike said while grabbing el's hand knowing she won't take this well.

"no! you can't make me go! i don't want to go!" el said while she was crying.

"el calm down!" hopper said.

"how can i? she's going to cut me open!" el said while letting go of mikes hand.

"el! they want to help you! i promised i wouldn't let anyone do something to you and i'm keeping that promise for eternity!" mike said.

mike then grabbed both el's hands and held them close to him.

"i promise. for eternity" he said while looking in her eyes.

el then leaned in and hugged mike super tight while she calmed down a bit. mike hugged back tight and didn't care her father was watching this all happen.

"ok love birds break it up. i got to take el back to prepare for surgery. the surgery will be around 2 hours" the nurse said.

el and mike leaned back and stared at each other before mike nodded.

"i'll be waiting for you when you get back" mike said to el.

el leaned in super fast and kissed mike. mike wasn't expecting it and then kissed back.

"break it up!" hopper yelled.

they both leaned back and laughed before mike got down off the bed and looked back at el.

"i love you!" he mouthed.

"i love you more!" el mouthed back with a huge grin.

mike smiled as he walked out of the room and to the waiting room to meet with hopper and joyce.

"have you had anything to eat mike?" joyce asked.

"not really. i stole some of el's crackers last night" mike said.

"ok follow me, i'll go get you some food. hop want anything?" joyce said.

"i'm fine" hop said coldly.

mike and joyce went to the nearest vending machine and got some snacks to help them forget about what's happening.

but mike was worried sick about el. she's never been in surgery before. she must be scared. what if she comes back mad at him? oh boy.

he sat there and tried to fall asleep to help time go faster, but that didn't work at all.

time skip!
"family of el hopper?" the nurse called.

joyce, mike, and hopper stood up and followed the nurse to el's room.

"i'm warning you, she's a mess" the nurse said as she opened the door.

mike first noticed she was crying and ran over to her side.

"mike. it hurts so bad!" she cried and yelled.

mike hates seeing el in pain. he wish he could do something but he can't.

"el i know i'm sorry. i wish i could snuggle with you but i can't" mike said while grabbing her hand and rubbing his thumb against it.

hopper and joyce had come and talked to el but left to let the teens have some time.

"hey el?" mike asked.

"yes?"

"you know i absolutely love you right?" mike said with a goofy grin.

"what did you do?" she asked.

"oh no i didn't do anything! i'm just saying i'm positively, 100% in love with you" he said with the same goofy grin.

el just smiled and tightened the grip in their hands.

"i love you too dork" she said laughing.

"who taught you that word?!" mike said.

"max"

"of course she did" he said smiling.

they continued to make each other laugh and el could've sworn that made the pain go away.

time skip to when she is home cuz i'm too lazy to type !

"el you know tomorrow is your first day back to school right?" mike said to her in the middle of their cuddling time.

"i know"

"you nervous?" he asked.

"not really. i wanna beat that mouth breather" she said with some toughness.

"see that's the girl i fell in love with" he said while kissing her forehead.

NEXT MORNING AT SCHOOL

el and mike were walking to school hand and hand when they saw the party outside.

"el!" max said as she ran and hugged her.

"i'm so happy you're back!"

"glad to be back!" el said.

el hugged the rest of the party and stood next to mike holding his hand.

"el you've only missed a week so catching up should be fine" will said.

"ok" el said.

"well, well, well. what do we have here? little badly is back from the hospital huh? thought you might be to scared to come back" troy said walking up to them.

"leave-

"mike i can handle this" el said interrupting him.

mike then listened and went and stood next to her grabbing her hand super tight.

"listen here baldy, we all know you can't fight, so just leave. i'm gonna beat your ass again" troy said to el.

troy then walked closer to el but el let go of mikes hand and and ran up and punched troy in the face making him fall back on some leaves.

"that's for the surgery" she said before punching him again.

"and that's for hurting mike his whole life you bitch!" el said before kicking him.

mike stood behind el watching her with a huge grin on his face.

mike was thinking to himself i'm going to marry this girl one day

el had finally finished beating up troy and him and his minions ran away leaving the party with their mouths hanging wide open.

"what the hell! mike! you're one lucky dude!" lucas said patting mike on the back.

mike stood there and finally went up to el.

"did i get too carried away?" el asked.

"hell no. you just did what i've wanted to do for so long now. i'm so fricken happy i fell in love with you" mike goofy smiled before leaving in and giving her a quick peck.

el smiled then walked into school knowing troy won't ever try to bully her again.

and even if he tried, mike would also be there to protect her.
