"el?"

el ignored the person next to her and just kept her eyes closed. she didn't like to be awaken early.

"oh for goodness sakes el, wake up! it's your birthday!" the voice called again.

el finally remembered that today was in fact her bday! so she actually somehow open her eyes and looked over to see max standing next to her.

"what are you doing here?" el asked.

"i spent the night over here remember?" max said confused.

"oh ya i forgot" el laughed.

"but happy birthday!" max said before jumping on the bed and embracing el in a hug.

after some hugging and whatnot, el finally got out of bed and changed into some clothes. she stared into the mirror and tried to use her powers. but they didn't work.

she wrote on her little paper
"day 34, no powers"
then put the paper back into her desk.

"el you okay in there?" asked max from outside the door.

"i'm fine" she responded when she opened the door.

the girls met up with joyce in the kitchen and soon came jonathon and will.

"hey max, i still can't believe you drove 2 hours to just be with el on her bday. that's a good friend" said joyce while passing out some breakfast.

"ya of course. i wouldn't want to miss my besties birthday!" max said while smiling at el.

"i wish mike was here" el said.

"be happy at least one of your friends made it el! and don't worry. you'll be seeing mike next weekend!" joyce said.

they all ate and chatted, till max said she had to use the restroom.

once she was inside the bathroom, she phoned mike and asked where their location was at.

"we are about 1 1/2 hours away. remember, take her out shopping or whatever and when she comes back, we will be there to surprise her" mike said through the supercomm.

"oh and by the way, how does she look today? like her mood" mike asked.
in the background max could hear lucas saying "why does that matter?"

"she's depressed today. since she wanted to see you. i mean she's glad i'm here, but she also really wants to see you mike" max responded.

"i want to see her too. it's been too long. i think like 2 months" mike said.

"ok well get her out of the house and have her back by 6pm. not any earlier!" mike said before hanging up.

max exited the bathroom and sat back down at the table. joyce and the boys knew the plan but not el.

"hey so el i was thinking, want to go shopping today? i'll let you pick out anything you want" max said.

"ya sure. sounds good" el said in return with a smile.

max noticed it was a fake smile. she knew she is missing mike. she really wants to see him.

"el don't fake smile at me. i know you miss mike. and trust me, he misses you too. but don't let that ruin your bday!" max said while standing up and grabbing her hands.

"be back by 6!" joyce yelled before the girls ran outside.

the girls got on a bus and went to town to go shopping.

while back at the byers house:

"mike!" will yelled as he ran and hugged his friends.

"glad to see you buddy" mike said in return.

"hey ms byers" lucas said to joyce.

"lucas, you can call me joyce i don't mind!" joyce said.

"el and max aren't home are they?" dustin asked while he got out of the trunk.

"nope they just left. get the party stuff out of the trunk" jonathon said while going to help them.

the boys and nancy and joyce went to work right away.

by the time 6pm was nearing, the house looked amazing with decorations.

"alright guys, she should be back any minute now. i'll stay out in the open, and when i yell 'now' that's when you all jump out. got it?" joyce said.

all of the party nodded and went into hiding.

soon they heard footsteps from the porch.

"did you have fun today el?" max said as she opened the door.

"ya i did actually. shopping is really fun" el said with a huge smile on her face.

"hey girls. did you guys have fun?" joyce asked.

"we sure did. el bought a lot of cute new stuff! i'm sure mike would love them all!" max said while winking.

"stop it max!" el said while punching her in the arm.

joyce just smiled and then said
"well how about he sees them now....
NOW!"

then all of the party yelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY EL!"

el fell back into max's arms due to her being scared of things that jump out at you.

but once she was stabilized, she saw mike.

"MIKE!" she yelled.

"hi el!" he yelled before they both collided with each other and hugged.

mike lifted el off the ground and held onto her.

"i missed you" said mike.

"i've missed you more" el said with a huge smile.

she then leaned in and kissed mike.
the kiss only lasted seconds because el had company over, but it felt like forever.

then mike put her down and she went around and hugged lucas, and dustin.

"how long have you known about this?" she asked will.

"not very long... just kidding. ever since we moved here!" will said before hugging her.

then el went back to max and hugged her as well.
"thanks for everything"

the party had a blast catching up and just hanging out.

el and mike were always next to each other, and always holding hands. then she leaned on him and put her head on his shoulder.

he looked over at her and saw she was asleep.
so he kissed her head and closed his eyes.

he wasn't very comfortable, but it didn't matter. she was comfortable.

they awoke the next morning with the party all over the floor, and el and mike on the couch.

el was wrapped around mike and they were holding onto each other.

max looked over at them and knew. they really did love each other. and not even moving could keep those two love birds away from each other.
