Jealous
There will be a couple of these but different people. The times are going to change too.
Kahli-
Ten months ago-
Kali had recently found out that she had other powers as well. She could wave her hand through the air and see whoever she wanted to see but they couldn't see or hear her. A little creepy but what isn't in the world right now.
On a December night, Kali decided to check in on her sister. She waved her hand in the air and shimmery circle appeared. "Jane." She said and her sister appeared in the circle. Jane was standing by two doors in a blue dress, looking around. Jane caught sight of someone and smiled warmly. Then a boy appeared and told Jane that she looked beautiful.
"She never mentioned a boy..." Kali thought out loud.
Then the boy asked her if she wanted to dance. So, they did. Then they did something that surprised Kali. The boy leaned down and kissed Jane.. on the lips! She's only 14 right? Kali waved it off thinking that they wouldn't last very long and waved her hand through the circle making it disappear.
Nine months ago-
Kali was playing a boring game of cards when she suddenly stood up. "I'm going to check on Jane." She informed everyone.
"But, Kahli!" Axel cried. "We're in the middle of a game!"
"I was bored anyway." Kali deadpanned. She then made her way to the room where Jane had slept the couple of nights she was here. Kali sat on the edge of the bed and swiped her hand through the air. "Jane." She said and a picture of Jane came into view.
Jane was sitting on a couch watching some sort of movie. Kali listened closely and decided it was probably Star Wars. Jane was sitting on the couch with her knees pulled up to her chest as she watched the movie with her chin on her knees. She wore black sweatpants and a pink T-shirt and fuzzy socks. She looked very content and comfortable and Kali smiled.
Kali heard a door open in the background and then walking could be heard coming down stairs. A boy wearing a navy blue hood less sweatshirt and grey sweatpants with white socks came int view with a bowl of popcorn. Jane smiled at him as he sat next to her and she snuggled up against him. He put the bowl between them and wrapped and arm around her and they began to continue watching the movie and eating popcorn.
Kali realized with a start that that was the same boy from that dance or whatever it was. Kahli swiped her hand through it and went to the phone to order dinner and ignored the twist in her stomach.
Eight months ago-
Kali woke up and decided to check in on Jane. She doesn't know what it was but you know the girl for less then a week and you already feel a need to protect her and check in on her. She swiped her had and said Jane's name.
The image came up and Kali listened closely because Jane and all her friends looked serious. Jane sat in a chair looking at her friends in front of her. Her eyes were red and her cheeks were blotchy. Kali immediately became concerned.
"Okay, what did you see, El?" A girl with red hair and blue eyes asked. El? Jane clutched a bandanna in her hand and her hands were shaking slightly.
"I.. saw Papa." Jane whispered as a tear trailed down her cheek.
"What about him?" That boy, from the other times Kali had checked in on Jane, said.
"He's still alive." Jane said.
"What was he doing?" A darker skinned boy said.
"Talking." Jane answered.
"About?" Another boy with curly hair and no two front teeth asked.
"Eleven." She pointed at herself.
"What about you?" The boy from the dance asked, concern in his eyes.
"He wants me." Jane wiped furiously at her eyes. "He says how he needs to find me and take me for my powers."
"Does he want anyone else?" A boy with brown hair asked.
"No. Just me." Jane said. "He says I have the strongest power and he is going to test me."
"Test you?" The red headed girl asked, confused.
"Yes." Jane said. "Then lock me in a dark small room when I mess up."
"Is that all?" The African American boy asked.
"No, he said that he'll have security people in front of my bedroom door and surrounding every room and outside so if I try to escape I won't be able to." Another tear rolled down her cheek.
"When is he planning on coming?" Red headed girl asked.
"I don't know." Jane looked down at her trembling hands then placed her head in her hands. Her back moved up and down. "Why do they always need me? Why can't they leave me alone. It's not my fault I was born with these stupid powers."
The boy stood up from his chair and knelt in front of her. He pulled her hands away from her face and laced their fingers together. "El, We all know it's not your fault and we're gonna stand by your side until the end."
"Promise?" Jane whispered.
"Promise." The boy confirmed before pressing his lips to hers. He pulled away and rested his forehead against hers. "I love you, Eleven Hopper." Jane's eyes widened before softening.
"I love you too, Michael Wheeler." So Michael is his name.
"Ugh, guys!" The curly haired boy with no two front teeth said.
"Mike, really? Right now?" The African American boy exclaimed.
Kali wiped her hand through it and again tried to ignore the burning fire in her stomach.
Seven Months ago-
Kali was checking on Jane.. again. Kali checks on her once every month.
So this time, in short, Mike was helping Jane out with her math homework. She was sitting at a table and he was leaning over her shoulder and pointing things out and walking her through the problems.
"Okay, El. Try this next on on your own." Mike said and El nodded before working out the problem. A few minutes later she leaned back in her chair.
"Done." She said. Mike leaned over her again to check the answers before he smiled.
"You got it right." He said.
"What?" Jane looked up at Mike.
"You got the answer right without any help." Mike smiled down at her proudly.
"Really?!" She squealed and jumped up, wrapping her arms around him and he wrapped his around her.
"I'm proud of you." He whispered and rested his head on top of hers that was laying against his chest.
"Thank you." She replied. Mike kissed her head and even before he pulled away Kali had swiped threw the image. She bit her bottom lip and shook her head before walking downstairs.
Six Months ago-
And again, Kali was checking in on her sister. It was Easter and she was watching El run around in a pink dress with a purple ribbon wrapped around her waist. Her hair was perfectly curled and rested a little but above her shoulders. Mike was running behind her, laughing. He wore a light blue button up shirt and black pants. Kahli looked around and noticed Jane was looking for Easter eggs. Probably because she had never been to an Easter Egg hunt.
"El!" Mike exclaimed. "I found one." Jane whipped around and her eyes brightened as she saw the blue Easter egg in his hands. She went to take it as he handed it to her but her hand shot half was to it as she looked at his empty basket.
Jane frowned and put half her eggs into his basket. "You didn't have any."
"That's okay, El. I've been to an Easter egg hunt before. You haven't." Mike pointed out.
"Yes, I know but I feel bad." El looked down.
"Don't feel bad." Mike wrapped his arms around El and she did the same thing back. "I can just go and buy some candy."
"Just keep the eggs." El said and looked up at him with puppy eyes. "Please."
"Oh alright." Mike gave in and kissed her.
Kali swiped her hand through the image, wiped her nose, and walked away with a hard stare.
Five Months ago-
Kali checks in on her sister, Jane, again. "Jane." She says to the image.
The image appears and Jane is standing by a locker putting her school books away. She takes one out and puts it in her backpack. It must be the end of the day. El was wearing a over-sized blue T-shirt and white Capri pants with grey tennis shoes. Her hair now rests right on top of her shoulders.
Kali sees Mike coming down the hall and Kali tenses up. Mike wore a light blue T-shirt with dark blue shorts, longer socks, and tennis shoes.
Mike drops his stuff by his locker, one away from Jane's, and quietly makes his way over to her. He snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, picked her up, and spun her around. Jane gave a shriek but then laughed. Once Mike had set Jane down she whipped around and smiled up at her boyfriend.
"Mike." Jane laughed quietly before leaning into him. Mike laughed and kissed her forehead.
"I got to pack my bag then we can head out." Mike said before going over to his locker. Jane smiled while she shouldered her backpack. She stood beside Mike, leaning against the locker next to his.
Mike was zipping up his backpack when Jane was shoved to the ground. She grunted as she landed on the ground, her arm landing hard on the floor but thankfully not broken. Jane tried to stand back up only to be pushed down again. This time, her head hitting the ground.
"Do not touch my locker, freak." A girl with skimpy clothing and long brown hair spat.
"Hey!" Mike shouted and rushed to help Jane up. She pressed against his waist, her arm wrapping around it. She looked at the other girl with fearful eyes. "Do not touch her ever again."
"Oh, here comes Mike Wheeler protecting his freak of a girlfriend." The girl laughed. Kali's eyes narrowed.
"She's not a freak." Mike clenched his teeth.
"Yeah she is! I mean look at her." The girl gestured to Jane.
"She looks like a normal person to me." Mike shot back.
"Her hair is short and she wears no makeup making her even uglier then she should be and not to even mention those clothes." The girl said.
"So what if her hair is short? So what if she doesn't wear makeup? And her clothes are perfectly fine and better then your skimpy clothing." Mike glared. Kali smiled at that comeback.
The girl waved it off. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever." She walked away.
"You okay?" Mike asked.
"Yes." Jane said.
"Promise?"
"Promise." They leaned in and before they could kiss Kali swiped her hand and wiped at her watery eyes before walking away.
Four months ago-
It was now mid June and Kali was checking in on Jane. Jane was at a lake with all her friends and was looking at the water with a confused face. She wore a cute pink one piece and Mike wore black swimming trunks.
"Why is there so much water?" Jane tilted her head slightly in confusion.
"It's called a lake and you can swim in it." Mike explained.
"Okay." Jane said and brushed her shoulder length hair out of her face. All their other friends were already in the water. Mike laced their finger together and led Jane to the water.
Right when she put her foot in she shuddered and backed up. It reminded her of the bath. "You good?" Mike asked and she nodded. She was knees deep when a smile finally spread across her face.
"It's not like bath." Jane whispered.
"What?" Mike turned his head to her as they walked in further to their friends.
"It's not like bath." El put her left hand, the one that wasn't holding Mike's, under water. They got chest deep in the water where their friends were but Jane still held on to Mike in fear that she'd go under.
"Who can hold their breath the longest contest?" Lucas suggested and everyone agreed except for Jane.
"Hold their breath?" She asked.
"It's when you go under water and whoever comes up last wins. You don't breath under water though." Red head explained.
"Well, I know that last part." Jane said.
"Are we all participating?" The curly haired boy asked and everyone nodded. "Okay, one..two..three." Everyone dunked under.
The first one up was a shorter boy with light brown hair.
Second, curly haired boy.
Third, red head girl.
Fourth, African American boy.
Fifth, Mike.
Then finally Jane came up, gasping for air.
"Geez, El!" The red head exclaimed.
"What, Max?" Jane asked.
"How'd you stay under that long?" Max asked.
"That's personal." Jane replied.
"You won the contest, El." Mike pecked her cheek and Kali waved her hand through the image.
Kali took a deep breath and walked away.
Three months ago-
Kali checked in on Jane on the Fourth Of July.
In the image, the sun was setting and the group of teenagers were setting out blankets. Probably getting ready for the fireworks. Kali spotted Jane sitting on one of the blankets, her head resting on Mike's shoulder.
"The fireworks are about to start." Mike said to the light brown haired boy who was sitting on the other side of Mike. "Where's Max, Lucas, and Dustin?"
"On the top of the hill I think." The boy said. Jane lifted her head and looked over at the other boy.
"Will?" Will looked at her. "Can I have a water bottle?" He passed her one and she unscrewed the cap.
"Hey guys." The African American boy said, his hand in Max's.
"Hey, Lucas." Mike said. "Where's Dustin?"
"He's coming." He pointed behind him at the curly haired boy.
"Okay."
"Guys, the fireworks are starting in a few seconds." Dustin said, glow sticks wrapped around his wrists and necks.
"What are those?" Jane pointed at the glow sticks.
"Glow sticks?" Mike reached over at the box they were in, cracked one, and placed the connector on the end.
"El." Jane turned to Mike. He grabbed her wrist and put the glow stick around it. "It only lasts one day."
"Pretty." Jane fixed her eyes on the red glow stick.
"Mhm." Mike hummed, his heart eyes showing. Then the first firework went off and Jane jumped and gave a little scream. "Hey, it's okay. It's just the fire works." He wrapped his arms around her. Kali swiped her hand through the image.
Two months ago (Making up birthdays)-
Kali checked in on Jane and she was sitting next to Mike on a picnic table with the rest of his friends sitting around it too. Of what Kali could see, Mike and Jane were holding hands underneath the table. In the middle of the table was a birthday cake with fifteen candles stuck in it.
The candles were lit and people started singing happy birthday.
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Mike
Happy birthday to you!
Then Mike blew out the candles and everyone cheered. They cut the cake, passed pieces around, and started to eat it except for Jane.
"What exactly is cake?" El whispered to Mike. He swallowed his cake.
"It's really good. Take a bite." He told her and she did. Her eyes widened and Mike let out a laugh. He got some frosting on his finger. "Told you." He touched the frosting to her nose and she giggled.
Kali swiped her hand and again wiped at her eyes.
One month ago-
To say Kali was surprised that Jane and Mike were still together would be understatement. She was so much more than surprised. They're 14 and 15 and are still dating?
Anyway, Kali checked in on Jane to see her riding on the back of Mike's bike, her arms wrapped around his middle, and her head resting on his shoulder.
They rose to a small pond and sat down on the edge. Jane had her feet in the water while Mike's head was in her lap while he laid down. Jane played with Mike's hair and ran her finger through it while Mike told her stories about his camping trip he had with Nancy, Jonathan, and Will a few days ago.
"And then Nancy fell in and pulled Jonathan with her." Mike laughed and so did Jane. "I'll have to show you sometime. Will and I were filming the whole thing."
Jane leaned down and pressed her lips to Mike's in a passionate kiss. She fisted her left hand in his hair while the other one rested in his chest. His right hand came up to her hair while his left laced with the one on his chest.
Kali swiped her hand through the image and felt tears streaming down her face.
These nine months of watching her sister have a healthy relationship with a boy who truly loves her made her jealous.
Kali, too, had once had a boyfriend. They were together for about five months until Kali told him about her powers. He didn't believe her so she showed him. He asked her to show him his worst fears which was being attacked, alone.
After her powers passed he called her a monster, ran away, and never spoke to Kali ever again. It hurt like hell. She thought he truly loved her and would understand but she was wrong.
And here she was. Watched her fourteen year old sister have a better love like than she did at sixteen. It wasn't fair. So next months, she's visiting Jane in person.
Kali walked out of a room with a smirk on her face.
Current time-
It was the end of September. It was the end of the school day at Hawkins High School and El was waiting for Mike in front of the building. She leaned against the brick wall of the building and looked out into the parking lot.
"Jane." She heard a voice say. She turned her head and saw Kali standing a few feet away. She ran over and enveloped her sister in a hug.
"Kali." El whispered. "What are you doing here?"
"Just checking in. See how you're doing." Kali said. El smiled. "So?"
"Oh! I am doing good. Mike is helping me through school and I have fun with my friends." El gushed. "Oh, and in December the police man adopted me!"
"That's great!" Kali said with a forced smile.
"Is that all you came for?" El asked.
"Actually, no. I came to warn you." Kali said.
"About?"
"Love is pain. A distraction. A wound that never closes." Kali said, her eyes on El's. Dead serious.
"What?" El was confused.
"Love, Jane. You know what love is, right?" Kali asked.
"Yes, I love Mike." El nodded. "And all my friends and family. But Mike is different."
"Yes, but are you sure it is love?" Kali said and El nodded. "You love Mike?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"He makes me happy." El's smile widened.
"Yes, love can make you happy and make your heart feel full but in the end the one you thought you loved will be the one to tear it in two." Kali said and El's smile fell.
"What do you mean?" El asked.
"Look." Kali pointed to the school doors. Mike came running down the steps and to this girl with long blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes.
"Olivia!" He smiled at the blonde girl. She smiled back and wrapped her arms around his waist and Mike wrapped his arms around her.
"What?" El mumbled to herself.
"How was your day?" He asked her, pecking her forehead.
El watched with a parted open mouth and tear filled eyes.
"Good. You?" Olivia asked.
"Good except that I didn't see you all day and had to pretend to like that freak all day." Mike said.
"Oh yeah. Her." Olivia said.
"Don't worry. I'm ending it soon." Mike said.
"Okay, good." Olivia smiled. Mike leaned down and gave Olivia a long hard kiss.
El felt the tears spill over and she covered her mouth to muffle a sob.
-------------
Mike came out of the school doors and looked around for El. He saw her, standing a few feet away from the wall to his right. There was another girl behind her. El was staring at something. He followed where her eyes were looking but saw nothing.
Then tears started spilling down her face and she sobbed. "Oh my God."
-----------------
El stopped crying and wiped her eyes. When she opened her eyes she didn't see Olivia or Mike. Her eye brows furrowed.
"El! Are you okay?" Mike ran up to her and wrapped his arms around her, rocking them back and forth just like they did when they reunited. El hugged back.
She pulled away and placed one hand on his cheek. "Yes." She then turned around and stared at Kali.
"It wasn't real." El said.
"What?" Kali asked.
"What wasn't real?" Mike asked, confused.
"You used your powers." El said, walking towards Kali.
"What?" Kali played dumb.
"Do not play dumb." El glared. "I told you to stay out of my head."
"No, you didn't." Kali pointed out.
"When you made me see Papa. I said to get out of my head and stay out." El growled.
"I just wanted you to know what it felt like when the person you thought you love breaks your heart, Jane!" Kali shouted
"Well I know I love Mike!" El shouted back. "And I know he's never do that to me!"
"You're fourteen, Jane! You don't even know what love is!" Kali shot back.
"Oh? And you do? How long were you and whoever hurt you together?" El glared.
"That is none of your business." Kali said.
"Answer me!" El shouted.
"Eleven! What is going on?" Mike asked. Kali turned to him.
"My sister, Jane, thinks she loves you and that the feeling is mutual. But I know once you find out who she really is you will leave her and I want to spare her the pain."
"I already know who she is. She's Eleven from Hawkins Lab. She has Telekinesis and Telepathy. She can see people in the void and find people through radios, TV's, bath, and the void." Mike said.
"And you didn't call her a monster?" Kali asked.
"No." Mike said.
"Kali, sisters don't do this to sisters. Go." El said, looking at the ground.
"What?" Kali asked.
"I said go." El said.
"Jane.." Kali still tried to reason with her.
"My name is not Jane. It is Eleven or El." El said.
"Why would you want to keep the name the lab gave to you?" Kali asked.
"Because, you call me Jane and you did this to me. Also Mike gave me the name El."
"Fine. I'll go but do not say I didn't warn you when Mike leaves you with your heart torn open and can not be fixed." Then Kali was out of sight.
Eleven turned to Mike, wrapped her arms around his waist, buried her face in his chest, an cried. Mike ran his fingers through her hair while his other hand rubbed her back.
"Won't leave me, right?" El's voice was muffled by his shirt.
"Never." He said against her hair.
"Promise?" El whispered.
"Promise."
And Mike kept that promise and Kali was proven wrong.
Hope you liked it.
