Lee's POV

I was sitting on the tree branch and listening their short conversation, until then I read her thought.

   "No matter how she's afraid, I'll always be there to comfort and protect her with all my life is....

I love my best friend....."

She thought about it as I watch them at the window, having a quiet moment of these two. I smiled at her. It seems like I'm really proud of her. Protecting her best friend just reminds me her twin brother, Renji Shinjiro.

I looked up at the sky night as the stars twinkle in night. "Renji, I think your sister has becoming a saviour. Just like your father did before....."

 Then I close my eyes and remember  from the past that we first met each other....

*Flashback*

513 years ago.....

 When I was 15 year old back then (before becoming immortal like her),

I was riding the horse to delivery the message to the king Arthur. Then I saw a few men throwing rocks at two young kids. The young boy wore a long white sleeve with a black suspenders, a black pants, and a black shoes.

While a young girl wearing the boy's clothes as he's. But I don't know why she's wearing  it.

"You rascals! I told you to give us your money!" One of the men said. I saw the boy glaring at them while protecting her. "This money belongs to our family! not you idiot!" the boy said making him flinched.

One of the men pulled the boy's hair and he screamed painfully. I saw a girl started to cry.

I was furious and mad at them. I pulled my sword and charge of them. "Gahh!!" I shouted, making them paying attention and they got shock. They pulled their sword to attack me.

 I dodged their attacks and slash them with my sword. Then they attack me again and again. Until the villagers saw with a horrified expression. I used my final attack at them, and then they fainted easily.

After the fight is over, one of the royal guards from the castle, came and Arrested the drunken men from the incident. I sighed of relief and help them to get up and put on the bandages on them.

"You were brave out there, young one," I said with a smile. He looked at me with a smile.

"Thank you, good sir." he said and the little girl bowed down at me with a smile. I chuckled a bit and patted their heads. "Tell me, what are your names, young ones?" I asked them.

    "My name is Renji Shinjiro, and this is my sister, Miko Shinjiro. Were only 13 years old" He introduce. I think this two are twins, they have a same age, same hair and same color. I shake his hand with a smile. "It's a honor to meet you two. I'm Young Lee the royal messenger" I introduced to them.

   Then, his twin sister gave me a flower of lily and iris. "Sir Lee, will you become our friend?" She asked as her twin brother nodded agreed. Again, I chuckled and respond.

   "Of course, you can visit at the Royal castle anytime you want" I gave them a warmth smiled at them and they smiled back.

    I heard a church's bells' ranged meaning it's time to deliver the message to the king.

   "I have to go, I have a important mission to accomplished" I said and hop on the horse. Before I leaved this village, I told him something very important.

    "Renji, make sure you have to trained hard and protect your beloved sister just your father" I answered to him.

    He was surprised that he knew that I know him and nodded at me. "I promised I'll protect my sister with all my life just like our father did." he said with a smile.

   I smiled back at him and left them at the village. I just realized, They are not just a villagers, but a great friends and the siblings of Ryuu Shinjiro. I have met them in my life.

*End Flashback*

   I opened my eyes and stood up at the tree branch and then, disappear.

In the morning......

Miko's POV

    I slowly opening my eyes and saw Ember was sleeping on my shoulder and holding my hand. I smiled at her and kissed her forehead. I saw her waking herself up and she looked at me with a beautiful light, emerald green eyes. She smiled at me as she kissed my cheek.

    "Morning, miko" She yawn and stood up to stretch her arms. "You too, best friend" I yawned myself. I heard her gasped as she got shock.

   "What? what is it?" I asked her with a a confused look.

   "Miko, the competition remember?" she answered and I realized it. Oh yeah, the third day of the competition is today. I stood up and went my cabinet to find my clothes. I looked at her and I sighed.

   "Uh, Ember can you wait at the living room" I told her and she nodded at me. "Sure Miko" she respond and blushed herself. She left while I'm changing my new clothes.

Ember's POV

    I sat on the sofa, waiting her to come out of the room. I was wondering why I end up sleeping with her last night. Maybe, just maybe....

   "Maybe you like my master, Ember" I heard Spirit's voice. I turn my head on him with a shock expression. " Spirit, how did you know I was thinking?" I asked him. He rolled his eyes and sat on the sofa beside me.

    "It's so obvious. I just read your mind" He answered. This dog has also power to read people's mind, unbelievable. I saw him sighed and smile a bit. "I know how you like her, is because she protects you from harm, right?" he said with a warmth smile. I sighed and I nodded at him meaning 'yes'.

    Before I could ask a question to Spirit, we saw her came out of her room and now, she was wearing a new clothes. A black pants with red sneakers and on the top of that, she wore a gray jacket with a hood. She smiled at me, as she grab her bokken at her room before we leave. 

   "So? Let's go then"  she said and we nodded at her.

Miko's POV

     As we walked to the gym school, we heard someone shouting at my name. "Miko!" I heard a boyish voice. I turned my head around and saw Gibson and the others walked with us.

  "Oi. Miko, where were you yesterday? Elric and Jessica won the Swordsmen contest and you missed the epic battle" He said with a close eye smile. I shrugged my shoulders and respond....

    "I just don't feel well 'cause a lot of people just shouting and cheering yesterday" I lied to him. To be honest, I hated lying to my friends.

    "Oh okey, Anyways, we'll cheer for you, miko" He said with a full of support. I smiled at them and they smile back. "You have alot of fans, Miko" I heard Ethan from my back. I rubbed my back of my neck and smile shyly.

    "Yeah, I know that, Ethan" I respond hiding my nervous looked. After that, we went to the gym and I changed my clothes at the competitor's room. I heard someone knocked the door and I respond.

"You can come in"

   I heard someone opening the door and closed it. Then I saw Ember standing the front door. She sat on the counch and she looked at me with a smile. I smiled back and sat beside her.

    "Ember, are you worried or something?" I asked her and she looked at me with a smile and shooked her head. "No, I'm fine, thanks" She said with a smile, but her eyes were worried. She lay her head on my shoulder.

   "I promised you, I'll will protect you" I said and hold her hand tightly. I heard the speaker said that the others are here. I sighed and stood up. "I'll cheer for you, Miko" I heard her what she said. I turn head at her and hold her hand again. "Come on, let's go" I said and she nodded at me.

  We entered the gym and I saw a lot of crowds cheering them. I saw,Ember went to the audience sit with her parents. "Hey Miko, you need to sit down" I heard from Jet and I nodded at him. I sat beside him with Michelle and the others.

   "Good luck, everyone" We heard from Elric said. "You too, Elric" Jessica said with a smile. Jet smirked at him and answered. "I'm not going to be easy on you guys." He pointed at us and I smirked at him. "Nuh uh, I'm going to beat you guys in the hard way" I said.

    "So good luck you guys and you too, Miko" Michelle said with a smile and I smiled back. I saw Lee went to the basketball court to announce it.

     "Ladies and gentlemen, This is the final day of the Swordsmen contest. Five players will fight each one by one." He said and he continue the announcement.

      "The winner, will be receive a medal of the championship." He answered as the cheers goes wild and I could hear someone calling out my name, using the telepath magic.Then I respond.

    "Ethan, what is it?" I asked with a serious tone. "We got problem miko, there's a dark aura around inside the gym" He respond. I was shock about this situation. "Okey, tell the twins and Lee to help you in the situation" I ordered him and he didn't reply my answer. I guess he using his magic to telepath him.

   I heard Lee called us and we stood there at the stage. Then I saw Lee was telepath our comrade and he nodded himself. Then he told the referee to watch us to fight and he accepted his job.

   The referee stood at the referee place and he raised his hand as all of us raised our bokken. I smiled to them and they smiled. "Ready. Fight!!"

    I charged myself as Jessica and Jet clash each other sword of bokken. I saw Michelle charged herself as she's gonna attack me and I block it. Slash at her armour and she fell down in the floor.

    I heard someone will attack me and I block it at my back and then, sending Elric's bokken flying and dropped on the floor. "Michelle and Elric is out of the battle. Three remain to go." The referee said and he looked at Jet, defeated by Jessica easily.

   I was impressed by his skill. But I'm not gonna lose this fight. "Jessica is out of the battle, the remaining two players is on the game" I heard from the referee. He looked at me with a smile and I smiled back. Then, he charged himself to strike me.

   I blocked his attacks, to defend myself. I swing my sword to attack him, then he shielded himself from my attacks. This time, I attack him with all my might.

   After that, He and I moved away each other and patted ourselves. He tried to attack me, but his legs are collapse.  A lot of people went silent, and I could tell that these crowds were shock. "And The winner of the Championship Swordsmen is.... Miko Shinjiro" The referee said. The crowds cheer and clapped with their hands.

  I looked and him, laying on the ground and I helped him to get up on the feet. "You won the contest, Shinjiro" He said with a sad smile. "Don't worry, you'll win next year, Jet" I smiled at him.

    The principal gave me a championship medal and I thank her. Then I realized that, I forgot to help the others. Before I could help them, alot of people wanted me to have a picture and I accepted quickly.

   After a quick taking picture, everyone left at the gym, except me. I ran at the gym hallway to find them. Man, where the heck are they?

   Then when I running at the corner, I was shock. The twins are struggle in the fight to destroy that creature. Then, I saw Ethan and Lee are unconscious. I ran at them to help them.

    "Hey twins! duck yourselves" I said as I summon the ice on my hand. The twins cover their heads as they're duck themselves. I raised my hand to aim the target.

    I throw the ice shards at him. Before I fired at him, he dodged my attack. Then he grabbed my ankle and swing like a tornado, and he throw me at the wall. I coughed with few bloods.

    His about to strike me again. But there's something on my wrist. Wait! of course! My shield!

    I remember that time, Lee just invented this shield for me. "I hope it works." I thought about it.

   I press the button of my shield and block his attack. I glared at him and stabbed him with my sword.

    The creature fell down fainted and exploded into the dark dust. I struggled to stand up, until then someone pulled me up. I looked up at her and it's Ember and the others.

    "What... Are you doing here?" I said faintly. "We saw you there, fighting the creature." She said. I looked at Elizabeth. "I'm sorry, Miko. I had no choice but to tell Michelle and the others" She said with a sad smile and a guilty eyes.

     "It's alright. You did the right thing to tell them." I said with a warmth smile at her.

      Until then, I suddenly feel unconscious and fell on the ground, faintly.

Ember's POV

     Oh no. She fainted at the ground and I shake her to wake up. "Miko, Miko! Wake up" I said with a worried tune. "Don't worry, we already called the ambulance to take her  and the others at the Hospital." She said and the others nodded.

    "Thank you" I said with a smile. "She's are friend, right?" Michael said with a smile. I nodded at them meaning 'yes'.

     The ambulance were here and carried them to the hospital, so I decided to go with them. The nurses took them to the Emergency room. After a while, the nurse took them to their room and the doctor told me that they need to rest in a week.

    Then I asked him if I will stay with her and he accepted my offer. I entered her room and closed the door.

    I sit on the bed beside her and fall asleep on here shoulder.
