Slow Drown

Author's Note: An S and Q story. This is canon in the Mightyverse, but it doesn't affect the stories that I have set up. Not yet anyways. I'm not that great at writing stories of those with phobias, so please bare with me.

Also, forgive the Russian. I arguably looked up the word, so I don't really think it's right.

 Drip

A droplet of freezing cold water struck S on his forehead. The Scots-Russian twitched as he groggily opened his eyes. The never ending darkness surrounded him like the void itself. He looked around as a small bit of panic set in.

Where am I? S questioned himself as he stretched out.

The bearded man hit his foot against another surface. He flinched as he hit his head on the ceiling. He reached his arm at an angle to touch the surface that he smacked his head against. It was maybe a few inches above him.

S flinched again when the water hit his head again.

How far can I move? S questioned as he turned his body in the darkness. S carefully maneuvered as his body hit both the walls of the squeezing tight area he was stuck in.

 Drip. Another water droplet

 Drip. Another.

 Drip.

 Another.

S's eyes widened behind his glasses as the water made him flinch when it got to his eye. He let out a slow, shaky breath as the dripping grew.

 Drip

 Where am I?

 Drip

 What is happening?

 Drip

 A...Am I trapped in a box?

 Drip.

 Am I-

 Cr e a k

S's thoughts were cut off when the 'wall' next to him creaked. A sudden cold feeling caused S's body to jerk.

 Water. More water.

The penguin hybrid's hands forced their way against the wood that kept him trapped. He started to bang his fists against the ceiling and scratched at it like a wild animal that had been recently captured.

 " помощь!"

S realized what was happening as he continued to claw at the wood. The water started to pour in from small splits that had opened up from when S was jerking around. He started to yell even more in Russian as he remained shadowed in darkness.

It took seconds, minutes, maybe even hours for S to start coughing out some water when it came from the ceiling. Warm hot liquid dripped from his nails and fingers as the cold water brought him only stinging agony. S's arms dropped as he gasped out due to the increasing difference of water compared to air in the box.

The penguin's eyes started to close as the water got to his ears. It would only be a matter of time before it reached his eyes.

 Drip drip drip.

 I should just accept it

 Drip drip drip

No one's going to find me. I don't even remember how I got here!

 Drip drip drip

Q, Q, I just want to see you again. I... I don't want to die! I-I'm afraid. This can't end like this. I don't want to relive this!

 FOOSH!

The water broke through like an army on a weak barricade. S's eyes widened in terror as he tried to scream again as the water quickly got into his mouth and clogged up his throat. He turned and gagged the water out as he closed his mouth and weakly pinched his nose.

Coldness surrounded the penguin on all side as the box's lid was quickly being yanked open. More and more water came flooding in like when a dam breaks. S's whole froze up as the water started to encase him and suck him in. He kept his hands over his nose and mouth as he tried, rather desperately, to remain stiff and not shake. The hybrid's attempts to keep the water at bay didn't work though. It started to float his system as he involuntarily opened his mouth and gagged.

The penguin's body grew limp as his eyes closed to the salty waters that swallowed him up. The lid of the box was thrusted away as arms quickly wrapped around S's torso. Whatever had S carried him through the water and up to the surface.

S's body was carried up to the floating island of Woltria. The penguin was carried to what looked like a hospital and rushed to a bed. The doctor's quickly patched the penguin up and dried him off. A long tail was draped against S's unconscious form. The person that had saved S's life was crying over him as the doctors worked on saving the penguin from a post water grave.

" No no nono no nono nononno ono!" the hybrid whined as they remained across S despite what the doctor was telling him. It took Charlie, an Arctic Wolf hybrid, to drag the shorter and stronger man off of S's body.

Time continued to pass as Charlie held the smaller man, Q, in his arms. Q was getting more drained from his struggling as his legs kicked. When the doctor came into the waiting room, Q was put back down onto the ground.

" Is he alright?" Q asked in an almost incoherent speech that could rival a madman's. The doctor nodded and quickly led Q back to the room. S laid on the bed; his hands were heavily bandaged, and his body was wrapped up in blankets.

Q put himself back onto S and laid there. He didn't eat or drink as he waited for S to wake up. It took a few hours for S to wake up. He weakly glanced down at the now sleeping Q that was gripping his hand. S smiled faintly as the Scots-Russian hybrid closed his eyes and fell asleep once more.

Q and him were safe, and that was all that mattered in the end.
