Joe's POV:
There's been a troubling reoccurrence on the server lately. Cub stole something from Impulse, but the moment that the bear hybrid confronted the member of Z.I.T Cub full denied it. I heard in passing that Jevin has been acting odd lately.
The peace keeper in me wants to get this situation false accusation sorted out, but 'm not that great at delving into the unknown. Grian, Doc, and Ren were investigating the case already, so I didn't have to worry about it too much.
It was late into the night. X and Void had recently cleared out the phantoms, so we all could walk freely through the wide streets of the shopping district.
" Evenin' Impulse n' Tango." I raised my hand as the two look at me. Impulse still looked mildly annoyed at the events prior to tonight, and I can't blame him.
Tango gave me a wave as his tail twitched, " Impulse, it was just a some rockets. I have plenty at my base that you can have man!" the taller man shook his head. Impulse let out a sigh, " No, I'd rather get it myself... Thanks for the offer."
Tango and I watched as Impulse jogged away. I raised my eyebrow and looked over at the fiery man, " Why did you call them just rockets?" I questioned with a frown. Tango shrugged, " Well, to me they are just some rockets. I've got a lot of them anyways."
I shook my head at him, " You never know Tango. Them rockets may be really important to Impulse in some way." I crossed my arms and shivered at the cold chill. Tango nodded, " Good point Joe. Well, I'm going to go track him down. He shouldn't have to just walk home to his base." Tango started to run after Impulse.
" Goodnight Hills!" Tango called out as he ran. I shook my head at the two and continued to walk. The next person I walked into was Wels leaving from TFC's base. The two of us waved at each other as we kept walking.
Wels looked incredibly tired.
I didn't wish to both TFC and check on him, so I decided to walk back towards my home. I looked around as a groan caused the hairs on my neck to stand.
" Hello?" I looked around and fixed at my glasses slightly. The groan worsened to a painful moan as I got closed to Jevin's home. I leaned my head on the door.
A heavy, groggy breathing came from inside. I looked down at the door knob.
Jevin's slime covered the handle, but the door was ajar ever so slightly. I frowned. This doesn't count as breaking and entering one's home correct? No, it didn't matter. I can't waste time on chasing down Impulse, Tango, and Welsknight. I need to check up on the hybrid.
I gently pushed open the door into the barely lit room.
" Jevin?" I called out into the foreboding darkness as I looked around. There was a faint glow of Jevin's eye in the corner of the room.
The hermit let out a groan as he curled away from me. I slowly walked towards him as the air around me got colder.
I reached my hand out to him, " Jevin, what's wrong? What happened to you?" I questioned as I tried to touch his shoulder. Jevin whipped around and grabbed my arm.
The hermit let out a hiss as I was thrusted against the wall that Jevin was curled up again. A strong burning sensation covered the spot where Jevin grabbed me.
" Oh! Oh my god Joe! I-I'm sorry! I wasn't myself right then." I groaned as I stared up at Jevin. He flipped on the lights and looked down at my arm. I looked down at the blue ooze that covered my arm.
I looked up at Jevin as his slime covered half of his face. His hair was becoming a brown color as he moved his hand to his mouth. His eyes widened slightly, " Oh god, not now... I just turned back." He hid his face entirely as his body continued to shift.
" What's happening to you Jevin?" I questioned as I tried to get up. My legs, however, disagreed leaving me on the floor. Jevin turned away and held his head; his breathing sharpened as he held up his slime hand.
The hermit breathed heavily as he lowered his hand again. I followed his stride as he went over to the light switch and turned it on.
I let out a sharp gasp as Jevin turned around.
He looked exactly like me. Right down to his eye.
" Sorry that this happened.... I... I thought I had it controlled." Jevin even sounded like me. I narrowed my eyes at him as he kneeled down. The hermit looked my glasses and stood up. He looked around.
I wanted to say something, but I couldn't force anything out of my vocal chords. I just allowed Jevin to continue.
The slime hybrid crossed his arms, " Yer eyesight is real bad Joe." he shook his head as he handed me by glasses back.
Jevin let out a shaky breath as he forced himself to turn back in front of me. The slime breathed heavily just like he did previously. I slowly pulled myself up onto I was sitting down on a chair.
The two of us stared at each other in silence, " Why'd you steal those rockets as Cub?" I questioned with an eyebrow cocked up slightly. Jevin sighed as he got some bandages. He came over to me and bandaged up my arm.
" Impulse scared me. I was trying to get this power to work, and I guess I may have took the rockets off of Impulse, so he wouldn't follow me." Jevin explained as he looked over at a shulker box. The hermit sighed, " I was going to return them tomorrow morning though!" he told me with a nod of his head.
I sighed as he finished up his arm, " Alright, as long as you meant no harm...." I told him as I waved him goodnight and headed back home.
I wasn't going to tell anyone about this. Sometimes some of the secrets in Hermitcraft are better left unexplained until the true culprit explains himself or herself.
