a/n: i've had this story idea for a while. i wanted to write a whole book on it, but i decided to put it here. i think it'll be really good, i'm excited to start it!

y/n had been secretly in love with charlie ever since peewees. so, i'm sure you could imagine her heartbreak when she saw charlie and linda kissing after the ducks had just won a huge showdown. it hurt her a lot, and everyone could see that. everyone except for charlie.

charlie had always had a crush on y/n, but he figured he never had a chance. so he settled. which was something he couldn't admit to anyone. not even himself.

meanwhile, goldberg found himself in a dilemma of his own. he needed to come up with a month long psychology project, and couldn't seem to think of anything.

until he sees the hurt in y/n's eyes. he's known about y/n's infatuation with charlie for years and charlie's crush on y/n, but it never served a purpose for him. until now.

goldberg knew exactly what he wanted to do for his project. he was gonna test the matters of the heart.

he had seen some cliche movie about jealousy in relationships, and decided it would be good to test it from a psychological aspect. he was going to set y/n up with another team member, in order to observe charlie's actions.

it was the perfect plan. he could observe both charlie and y/n, when they are put in positions where the green monster rears it's ugly head.

he only had one problem: who could he possibly set y/n up with?

he spent all of three minutes trying to figure this out. he eliminated members of the team because of a number of factors: guy was already dating connie, no one would believe averman could get y/n, fulton's too nice to scheme, kenny's mom won't let him date, julie wouldn't have the desired effect, etcetera.

in the end, there was only one boy left standing: adam banks.

and goldberg knew he would do it, if he made y/n seem just the right amount of pathetic. adam was a very sympathetic person, and was always willing to help a friend.

plus, it helped that charlie was already jealous of banks. he's the superior player, always has been. it's something charlie's never been able to get over. it only made it a more interesting project and a more interesting project meant a better grade, which goldberg desperately needed.

so it was settled then, goldberg had his psychology project.

project heart: a project in which matters of the heart are involved.

now he just had to get his subjects on board. that would be the hardest part.
