meeting them
adam:
i sighed, running a hand through my hair as i made my way to the hockey rink at eden. i had just finished rehearsal for the fall musical, and my older brother riley was having me go to the rink until his practice was over.
i didn't have much of an interest in hockey, usually just the players. some of his teammates had caught my eye, but i think they're all puck and no substance.
besides, riley would never let me date any of his teammates, he's too much of a stickler.
i opened up the doors to the stadium, and walked over, opening the rink doors,"riley, i'm here."
he stopped skating and turned to me, slipping his helmet guard up,"y/n, what have i said about interrupting practice?"
i rolled my eyes,"i don't know, i try not to listen to your voice."
i looked around at the familiar faces, until i saw one i didn't recognize. he was a tall blonde, with striking blue eyes, and his smile was infectious. he met my gaze, causing me to smile lightly and look at the ground.
riley sighed,"just go sit, y/n. we're almost done here, then i'll drive you home."
i saluted him obnoxiously, and walked over to sit in stands.
i pulled out my script, figuring it wouldn't kill me to memorize some lines before tomorrow.
practice both came and went, and when i looked up, expecting for it to be my brother that was standing there, i instead saw the blonde boy.
i smiled lightly, but ultimately i was a little confused,"hi."
he smiled, jutting his hand out for me to shake,"hi, i'm adam."
"y/n," i took his hand, and then laughed slightly as i realized where i had seen him before,"you were one of those boys who ruined the curtain in the auditorium during orientation."
he smiled sheepishly, his cheeks tinting red, "you saw that?"
"oh, everyone saw that," i replied, shaking my head, something not adding up,"but doesn't that mean you're a duck? what are you doing on varsity?"
he sighed, shrugging,"i got put on varsity."
"and how are you liking that?" i questioned, standing up, and shouldering my bag as i saw riley coming.
"he loves it," riley answered, clapping shoulders,"isn't that right banksie?"
adam looked visibly uncomfortable, as he glanced at the floor,"i've got a lot of work to do, i'll see you later, riley," he smiled sweetly at me,"bye, y/n."
i waved lightly watching him walk away.
riley stared down at me,"don't you dare."

charlie:
"okay," i stood up in the locker room, ready to give my pre-game pep talk. i was the captain of the canadian team at the junior goodwill games, and today we were up against team usa, "we've won every game so far, and i'll be damned if we're gonna lose this one."
my best friend on the team, justin, smiled brightly at me,"that's right, captain."
i looked at my teammates,"remember our saying-"
we all spoke in unison,"if we can't be the states, what are we even doing here?!"
we laughed, finding our motto funny, even if no one else did. i mean, america was kind of a joke in every other country, as it should be. we figured we'd be a part of the movement.
not long after that, i skated onto the ice, and came face to face with the captain of the usa team.
we were supposed to shake hands before the game, to show good spirits.
i slipped off my helmet, dropping it on the ice temporarily, as i held out my hand,"good luck."
he took off his helmet, and i was taken aback by his looks. he was very attractive, and suddenly i was glad that helmets cover most of the face. i wouldn't have been able to focus, otherwise.
he smiled at me, grasping onto my hand,"you too, i've heard good things about this team."
"conway," a blonde boy with the number 00 on his jersey spoke,"stop flirting, we have a game to win."
justin laughed skating to my right,"yeah, and that goes for you too, y/l/n."
i rolled my eyes, as he handed me my helmet, "shut up, justin."
the had earned a loss from that game, but i'd say it was still a pretty good game, because it was there that i met charlie conway. potentially making it the best game of the junior olympics.

dean:
i shook my hands out, nervous for the moments that were to come. i had been picked to be a part of team usa for the junior goodwill games.
i was ready to walk into the practice stadium to meet everyone, but i could feel the anxiety bubble inside of me.
a million thoughts raced through my head, all of them along the lines of how i wasn't good enough, or how i would trip and fall the minute i got on the ice.
but they all came to stop when i heard someone laugh,"you know, the point of doors is so you can walk through them."
i turned to him, and the first thing i noticed was the bandana wrapped around his forehead.
well, that and what seemed to be a real tattoo on his arm.
i smiled lightly,"i was getting to that part."
he chuckled,"i'm dean. are you on team usa?"
i nodded, glad that we would be spending the next few months together,"yeah, i'm y/n, from y/t/n." (your town name)
"i'm from chicago." dean smiled, opening the door for me.
"the murder capitol of the country," i noted, walking through the door and thanking him, "interesting."
he looked at me with surprise,"well, i didn't know that, but thanks for the info, babe."
i chuckled,"no problem, babe."

guy:
i looked around at all the doors, wondering which one i needed to walk into.
my roommate julie had forgotten her skates at the dorm, and was having me bring them to her before her first eden game.
i saw one that seemed to be a locker room, and opened it up to see multiple shirtless boys.
"woah!" i exclaimed covering my eyes.
i heard julie laugh,"y/n, relax, i'm over here."
i slowly let my hand drop, as i walked down the room, her skates sitting around my shoulder.
"hey, y/n," charlie smiled,"aren't you in my american lit class?"
i turned to him and smiled lightly as julie took her skates,"yeah, it's nice to see you in a new... environment."
he laughed, and turned to a blonde boy with curly hair who had been staring,"well, the boy who can't seem to look away, is guy germaine."
i chuckled and nodded in his direction,"y/n y/l/n."
"hey." he smiled, slipping on his jersey.
"are you gonna stay for the game?" charlie asked, slipping on his skates.
i shrugged, figuring if i could see more of guy it would be worth it,"yeah, sure, i'll stick around."
greg goldberg laughed,"i'm sure guy will love that."
i smiled awkwardly,"well, i should get out there. it was nice meeting you all, maybe next time you'll all be fully dressed."
they laughed as i walked out, and i bit my lip, glad that julie had forgotten her skates.

luis:
i sat at the diner, trying to get some homework done, and waiting for my mom's shift to end.
"i wish you and charlie went to the same school, it would make things a lot easier." she complained, handing someone a piece of pie.
i sighed, knowing we had been through this a million times,"well, if you had a hundred thousand dollars for the tuition, maybe we could go to the same school."
she rolled her eyes,"well, if you had stuck with hockey-"
i groaned,"this again, mom? i told you, it's not for me," i told a joke, trying to get her to ease up,"and if you're worried about our twin telepathy, it's very much intact."
she chuckled lightly,"i've never had to worry about that, you two have always been one step ahead of me."
i heard the door jingle and turned to see charlie, adam, and a few friends.
"y/n/n!" adam exclaimed, walking over and throwing his arms around me.
i giggled and pushed him off of me,"okay, banksie, that's enough, you just saw me yesterday."
he shrugged,"well, i don't get to see you at school anymore."
i rolled my eyes and shook my head. adam and i had been best friends for ages, and he was taking the whole 'separate school' things pretty hard.
charlie rolled his eyes,"y/n, this is luis mendoza he's on our team."
i met his gaze and smiled, noticing just how attractive he was. the thing with charlie's team was, they were all very hot. it almost made me want to go back to hockey.
"hey, i'm y/n," i smiled, standing up, and shouldering my bag,"what are we doing tonight, charlie?"
he smirked,"raising hell."
my mom cleared her throat, giving him a warning look,"you're doing what?"
i turned to her, giving a reassuring smile,"we're gonna go get a head start on studying for the sat's."
she sighed,"be home by eleven."
"yes ma'am." i nodded and started walking with the group.
i was most looking forward to getting to know luis. i could tell he had a lot to offer.

kenny:
i sat in the stands with my father, bored out of my mind. my dad was a scout for hockey players, and was making me watch the junior olympics with him.
the game had just ended, and he wanted to go talk to a few members of team usa.
we made our way to a conference room and i sat against the wall, eating chips and waiting for him to come back with a few players.
i had been to about a million hockey games, and none of them had ever made me feel any type of excited. until now.
until a boy with just about the cutest smile walked in. he was shorter than all the other players, but that only made him stand out more to me.
the players filed into the room, and my dad smiled,"hi, i'm y/d/n and this is my daughter, y/n."
"hey, i'm kenny." the cute boy smiled, and waved.
i waved back,"nice to meet you."
we eyed each other for a little longer than we should have, and my dad quickly tried to get his attention, to ensure that there would be no funny business.

dwayne:
while i was never a big fan of hockey, i didn't seem to have a choice in the matter. i was spending the summer with my father, and he had just become the coach of team usa hockey.
"so i really have to be there the whole time?" i questioned, as we walked into the rink.
he sighed,"how else are we gonna spend any time together, y/n? you've been with your mom all year, i don't get a lot of time with you otherwise."
i let out a breath, knowing he was right. we never got much time together, especially when he made it to the minor league.
"fine, i'll hang out here." i shrugged. it wasn't like i had anywhere else to be, all my friends were back in y/t/n.
he smiled,"great, now come on, we're already late."
i walked over to the stands and sat down to put on my skates. he wanted me to meet the team with him, so maybe i could make some friends while i was here.
i felt someone sit down next to me,"howdy, i'm dwayne. are you on team usa?"
i turned to him and smiled lightly,"my dad is the coach. i'm y/n bombay."
he raised his eyebrows and looked at me in surprise,"oh, wow. that's cool."
i nodded and smiled, realizing he was probably a little scared now. but he was really cute, so there was nothing my dad could do that would scare me away.
"yeah, so i guess i'll be seeing a lot of you this summer."
he smiled sheepishly, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck,"well, i look forward to it."
shortly after that, mr. tibbles dragged him away, and i went to meet my dad on the ice.
