Baby Steps
As they got into the ship, the teen looked around in a panic. Where were they going? Who are these people?
What happened?
Peter, as he learned his name was, looked over to the man guiding him up the ship. His exposed face had so many emotions. Relief, worry, happiness with a twinge of fear. When the man looked back at him, the teen looked to the ground.
The flight home was a quiet one. If they talked, it was simple questions and answers in whispered voices. The few times the man had to walk off saddened Peter slightly. There was a stable, caring aura that the teen couldn't quite pin coming from the grown man.
His blank mind kind of scared him, in a way. The fact that he didn't remember any of his own life scared Parker. Judging by the expressions he's read, he's not the only one scared.
"Alright, alright. Just run them through your head.", Peter thought aloud, whispering as he paced back and forth. "My name is Peter Benjamin Parker. I'm 17 years old now, although I was in the Soul Stone for three months. I go to Midtown High. I'm going to be a Junior next year. I live in an apartment in Queens. I, uh, I-" Peter cut himself off when he realized he was on the ceiling. "Uhh, UHHH!", he vocalized, slightly panicking.
The man with the slight goatee practically ran back into the room at the sound of Peter panicking. "I can stick to walls?!", he whisper shouted. "How-how-is it the suit?! It's got to be, right?", he tried to piece together, looking at the man for confirmation. The boy's face fell when he got a no.
"It's not the suit, Pete. It's, it's one of the effects of a radioactive spider bite, which you got on a trip around a year ago.", the man explained as Peter dropped down. When he was given a look of disbelief, the man sighed and touched the center of the suit, making it fall off. The man then guided Peter's hand to the ceiling and watched the teen's look of amazement as the bare hand stuck.
"Woooah.", Peter breathed in amazement. Pulling the hand off, he put the suit back on and pressed the center. He gave a giddy giggle before looking at the man. He had a slight smile, chuckling with Peter. He seemed happy; genuinely happy. Peter's soft smile stayed as he sat by the man. An arm pulled him closer, as the other hand ran through his hair. The gesture had a familiar calm to it.
"So, uh, I figured you might want this.", the man said, handing a smartphone to him. At this point, Earth was slowly growing in their window. "Might help jog your memory." Peter nodded a thanks and unlocked it, flipping through several things. His notes, his messages, his contacts.
Of course, Peter thought as he landed on the contact info of the man next to him. Why didn't I think of it earlier? That explains why he's acting the way he is.
As the ship opened on the landing pad on Stark tower, the two walked out and looked around. Peter stayed near the man, practically holding his arm. "Hey, Dad?", Peter asked, making the man tense up. "Yeah, kid?", his 'father' responded. Peter sighed, happy to have finally identified.
"Are we going home now?", he asked, like an innocent child.
The man looked down, gently smiled and lightly kissed the temple. "Yeah kid."
