Chapter 18

Seven Days Later. . .

Tommy sat in the living room, sewing up a rip in one of Micheal's sweaters as a fire crackled in the fireplace. It was a calming afternoon, one where Micheal was sitting in the living room reading one of his favorite books, while Tubbo and Ranboo did XD knows what outside. Tommy didn't care too much about what they were doing, he was babysitting Micheal.

It was something he hadn't done in a long time, and even if it was something his old self loved and looked forwards to, he couldn't help the anxiety he felt being alone with a kid again. The two husbands had left a little after breakfast, saying they'd be back sometime during the afternoon, which meant they could be back any moment now.

He and Tubbo had slowly been fixing their... problem. Tommy still refused to speak to Tubbo, always using that pad of paper he had in the beginning when speaking to him. Ranboo, he sometimes talked to, but most of the time he stayed silent and used his pad of paper as well. It wasn't that he was angry at Ranboo, but the ender hybrid was someone he hadn't talked to in such a long time. It was weird still. Micheal, well, Tommy talked when the little piglin asked him questions, or was telling the thesix-year-old a story. He was getting along with the family enough, it was actually quite peaceful here.

That didn't mean he forgot about Dream's death though, he was still mourning his brother's death. He isn't sure he'll ever forget it, how Tubbo mercilessly killed the ex-admin. It was sick seeing him die the way he did, but he also felt... happy. Something he wasn't proud of.

He loved Dream, and Dream had loved him back happily calling him his brother. But now he was gone, and Tommy would have to get over it. He's not sure if he'll ever truly forgive Tubbo for what he did, but he already can see himself relax around the goat hybrid. He knew he wouldn't stay mad at him for long, but he'd never forgive him for what he did, Tommy was sure about that.

A knock on the front door made both Micheal and Tommy perk up, both looking towards the hallway that led to the entrance. Micheal and Tommy then looked at one another, questioning gazes meeting. "Did you know someone was coming over?" The piglin asked, closing the book he had been reading as he sat up from his lying position on the couch.

"No... I didn't." Setting the sweater and sewing supplies aside he stood, signaling for Micheal to stay where he was. He made his way to the front door with careful eyes, eyeing the piece of wood before opening the door. His dull eyes met brown, his usually sad expression changing into one of surprise. Before him was his... family. Wilbur was in front, smiling happily at the sight of him, Philza in the back with a subtle smile, and Techno next to him with a neutral expression. His grip on the knob tightened. He went to shut the door, not wanting to speak to them but Wilbur quickly grabbed the door before he could, a pleading look falling onto his face.

"Tommy, please can we talk?" His voice was desperate, but with little care Tommy shook his head no, quickly looking towards the wooden floor he stood on, keeping the door semi-closed. "Please, we just want to talk."

"No." His voice was quiet but he knew that the other heard him because a very sad sigh left his lips.

"Please, we just want to make sure you're ok-" This made Tommy snap. His angry eyes made contact with Wilbur's the other taken back by his little brother's expression.

"Why do you three suddenly care?" All three stood shocked by Tommy's words. "None of you have been there for me, and I trust none of you. You all have hurt me one way or another, and I don't feel like ever feeling that way again!" Tommy's eyes dug into Philza's own. "I don't even understand why you're here. What? Did you get bored of Techno or something and decide to finally pay attention to me?" Technoblade walked in front of the now hurt Philza, who looked lost in his world as his now big blue eyes stared at the ground.

"Tommy that was uncalled for!" The piglin said, his own eyes looking hurt. "He cares about you just as much as he does me."

"He had a funny way of showing it."

"Tommy!" Said boy turned to Wilbur, who looked almost pained at the scene before him. "I'm sorry, Tommy. I-"

"I don't want apologies, I'm done with apologies! I'm done with getting manipulated! I'm done with- with- EVERYTHING!" Tommy let his anger be heard. "I'm sick of following what you say, only to be backstabbed and left to die because I decided I didn't like your fucking plan! I'm tired of being used like a chess piece for your amusement! I'm DONE!" Tommy turned towards Techno and Phil, his eyes unforgiving. "I'm done with all of you."

With that he finally slammed the door shut, taking in needed breaths as he let the realization of what he just did hit him. He didn't understand why he could feel emotions so easily now, but he hated it. He hated crying so much, feeling angry, or even lost.

He squeezed his eyes done trying to keep his tears at bay, but a weak whimper left his lips as his body slid down the door, his arms going to cover his now leaking face. He hated feeling this way, weak and sad. He would rather it go back to how it was, when he felt nothing and had no worries plaguing his mind. Why couldn't he ever be happy? Why did life hate him so much? What had he done to deserve a life like this?

A creak of floorboards quickly made Tommy look up from his hands, eyes still leaking as he tried to calm his emotions down. Micheal stood before him, a worried frown on his face and brown eyes full of sadness. "I know you never liked them, uncle Tommy... But they missed you." Tommy stayed silent as the child spoke. "They... cried... a lot." The six-year-old shifted on his feet as he talked, a small smile forming on his lips. "M-Maybe give them a chance? It has to be lonely being... alone." Tommy stared at Micheal for a long time, his pin-like eyes watching the child's soft ones. Micheal, sweet Micheal... If only he knew the pain Tommy had been through. Tommy weakly smiled, opening his arms for the piglin to crawl into. Micheal happily jumped into the scarred arms, hugging his uncle close. Tommy sighed, relaxing slightly as he closed his eyes.

"Micheal, the things they have done are not things someone can easily forgive." He spoke quietly, afraid he'd start crying again if he didn't. "I was hurt a lot by them, it's not easy to even look at them." Micheal snuggled close in Tommy's arms, his own brown eyes looking clouded as he listened. "Plus, I'm not lonely! I have you, a-and Ranboo... and even Tubbo!"

"You don't like dad too much do you, uncle Tommy?" The white-haired male was caught off guard by this question.

"Um... not at the moment... I-I'm still angry at him." Micheal smiled.
"Well, dad always said you guys couldn't stay angry at one another too long! So I hope that it's true and we can be like one big happy family again!" Micheal sat up in Tommy's lap, brown eyes sparkling as he talked. Tommy blinked, but couldn't help the feeling of happiness clench his soul.

"Yeah... a big happy family..." Maybe, a family that would stick around? Tommy couldn't help but hope so.

Three Months Later. . .

"Please can we add more sprinkles!" Ranboo begged, making Both Tubbo and Tommy laugh. It was a quiet night in the Beloved home, one that Tommy drank in since it was a rare occurrence. Tommy sat at the dining room table, quietly drawing as the two husbands made a cake. Ranboo, as usual, was going crazy with decorations and adding too much. Tubbo had to hide all the sprinkles just so Ranboo would stop dowsing the poor cake in them. Tommy couldn't help but laugh as he watched the two, a huge smile on his face that would distract him from the drawing he was creating.

Tubbo was currently wrestling the taller male on the ground trying to get a sprinkle jar out of the man's hands before he dumped the contents onto the cake. "NO! No more sprinkles! I swear this cake could give someone a heart attack!" Tommy smirked at his friend's words, but his eyes stayed on the paper in front of him. Tubbo had bought him colored pencils, and at the moment he was coloring in the bright blue sky, eyes fixed on the relaxing work. He guessed tubbo finally managed to get the jar of sprinkles from the ender hybrid, since he let out a victorious 'HA', followed by a very sad groan from Ranboo.

"C'mon! More sprinkles would have really made it man!"

"Nope! No more sprinkles Ranboo!" He felt someone walk up next to him, his gray-blue eyes finally looking away to see Tubbo looking at his picture with sparkling green eyes. "That's pretty cool! Where is that from?" Tommy looked back, his eyes looking over his work slowly. It was the circle of field that he and dream had lived in, but looking up to the gaping hole above. Birds flew by, and fluffy white clouds made the bright blue sky pop. The brown dirt walls reached up towards the sky, some roots of the trees sticking out of the sides. It was beautiful, and an image that would never leave his mind.

"It's just a... picture." Tubbo smiled, ruffling Tommy's hair before turning back to Ranboo to finish the cake, already freaking out about the ender hybrid sticking cherries onto the cake now. Tommy kept staring at the picture though, his eyes cloudy as he did. He knew what Dream did to him was wrong, but he still held love for the man he had called his brother. It took him a very long time to come to terms with the fact Dream was a bad person, but with Ranboo and Tubbo's help he had managed to get there. He knew Tubbo had killed Dream for a good reason, even if now Tommy still felt bitter about it.

He had gotten over his anger, and even forgave the goat hybrid, something Tubbo had been so happy about. Tommy was getting better, and in a way Tommy was happy about that. But he also was afraid, because he had lived a whole year without his emotions... he was afraid of the negative emotions, the ones that only brought back bad memories that Tommy wished he could burn. But he knew he'd have to get over that. He still refused to talk to the Minecraft family, and their visits were very few now. He just wasn't ready to face them, and he was almost positive he never would. Plus, he had a better family... one that cared about him and helped him when he needed it. He was happy, for the first time in a very long time, he was genuinely happy.

"Tommy! Help me stop Ranboo! He's trying to put raisins on the cake!" Tommy sighed, pushing himself out of his chair to see Tubbo already trying to grab the box from a very happy and laughing Ranboo. Tommy couldn't help but let that warm feeling fill his soul, and for the first time... he didn't fight the smile that grew on his face...
