Airport
The next two weeks were rather awkward for Dani and Christian. Of course, Christian told Josh, Mark, and Pelle that Dani wasn't going to go with them to Sweden, much to Mark's oh-so arrogant delight. Josh couldn't care less if Dani wasn't coming with them. He felt indifferent towards Dani. The only reason Josh was going to this festival was strictly for his thesis, nothing else. If anything, with the two weeks approaching, Dani and Christian barely talked to each other. There was no intimacy between them. Then again, even when Dani lost her family, Christian was hardly intimate with her. Same as before. Christian barely kissed her, or even gave Dani a massage when she needed one. And heaven knew Dani could use something to relieve her stress.
Although she didn't want to go to Sweden, Dani at least wanted to drive Christian and his friends to the airport so that neither of their cars would be in the airport parking space for weeks. It was the day of the trip, and Dani, Christian, and his friends were in the car. Dani was driving, Christian was in the front passenger seat, and Mark, Josh, and Pelle were in the back. Mark crossed his arms and smugly said, "don't expect me to pay for gas." Josh rolled his eyes and said, "no-one asked you to, Mark." While indifferent, Josh was willing to cut Dani a little slack, for once. Pelle on the other hand, kindly said, "well I certainly appreciate your willingness to drive us to the airport, Dani." Of all of Christian's friends, Pelle was one of the few Dani was alright with. At least Pelle wasn't a jerk or indifferent towards her. "Of course Pelle," replied Dani as she smiled a little at him. It wasn't a big and jovial style, but it was one that reciprocated Pelle's kind words. "It's a shame you won't be going with us to the Midsummer Hårga Festival," said Pelle, "this festival only happens every 90 years."
"That's oddly specific," chuckled Dani. "Yes, I suppose it is," agreed Pelle, "but it will be great to see my people again." He smiled jovially. A couple minutes later, Dani made it to the airport and parked the car in the parking lot. Christian and his friends got out and got their suitcases from out of Dani's car. Dani followed suit, following the four men. Once it was almost time for Christian and his friends to go on their flight, Dani nonchalantly said, "well, you guys have fun in Sweden." Christian nodded and said in a half-assed attempt to sound excited, "yep. See you in a month and a half." Dani awkwardly rubbed her arm and said, "yeah, I'll uh, I'll be sure to pick you all up by then." Normally Dani would tell Christian she loved him. But he hardly even said he loved her back. She hoped maybe, just maybe, Christian would make the effort to tell Dani he loved her. But he didn't say anything, his eyes just awkwardly looked around, as if he just wanted to leave and get on with it already. If this were a Monty Python sketch, Mark would have been like, "get on with it!" Christian smiled awkwardly and said like he was Bill Lumbergh, "yeah..." And that's when he left with Mark, Josh, and Pelle to their flight. Dani rolled her eyes and grunted in annoyance. She walked out of the airport and muttered, "unbelievable..." Meanwhile on the plane, Christian, Mark, Josh, and Pelle were inside the plane. Mark sat next to Christian. "Y'know, that might've been the first time Dani has never said she loved you," he said in observance, "not that I'm complaining."
"Yeah, I think I really need this vacation," agreed Christian, "when we get back from Sweden, I'm breaking up with Dani." Mark gave a dumbfounded look and said, "that might be the smartest thing you've ever done." Christian nodded in acceptance. He'd come to accept that he did not love Dani anymore. He felt trapped with her. Christian didn't care if he hurt Dani when breaking up with her after the festival. After all, he'd wanted out of the relationship for a long time.
