~Flashback~
(Zero's POV)
By now, his dual colored, golden eyes got accustomed to the darkness of the cell, as well as the lack of warmth it gave him. In fact, it made him comfortable. However, it was different for Wolf.
She'd always be attempting to savor any light, if any, when the door that seemed like miles away from then opened
He sat and watched as she would look at the guards who came by sometimes, and she'd usually come to him to devise a mischievous plan to annoy them. Yet, if she could, she would be pressing against those iron bars all day, but instead sat a few inches away. He would wish they wouldn't hurt her when she accidently touched them, he hated the hiss she gave when it gave a burning spot on her skin.
He gave stares like daggers when someone spit into their cell, but he was the one who held Wolf back as she spat back, and there was a lot of insults, (but she refrained from using more colorful language).
There was no day and night really. To them both, day was when they were awake, and night was just when they were feeling tired and they'd huddle up next to each other to sleep.
When she smiled, he wanted to smile as well. But some hidden barrier just kept his lips from curling up.
But most of it all, he wanted a life more than this. The both of them sat against the wall, fantasizing on how the outside world was like now. They had wings. They wanted to fly away from this place. But they couldn't.
So, they picked up other things to do other than eat what little they could get. He got a few sticks, and tried fashioning makeshift weapons, which usually broke in about a few minutes but he pursued this new interest. He was mostly interested in swordsmanship, it was the practice that he saw a lot before he went into here with Wolf. He of course, taught Wolf some, but she would break these 'swords' a bit too easily for her taste, but it seemed more than what others would know about the blade.
He knew Wolf could control flames, but one day she made them appear out of thin air. He was astonished, then immediately panicked by it when she almost had practically burnt a guard's face off. Wolf of course comforted him, and he slowly stopped being shaken up about it. He would turn away and close his eyes as she practiced this newfound talent of hers, and would hear a lot of expressive cries as she did so. If it made her happy, he was happy as well for her.
One day, years after they had been dropped off at this dust building place, they'd figure out how to escape. He suggested that they'd take their leave in an instant, but Wolf insisted that they wait for someone. It had probably been years since the pair of scrawny little kids had been dropped off here, yet there was no company given other them guards.
But, he trusted Wolf. Recently, she'd been eavesdropping more often on the guards, and seemed more riled up. So he went ahead and played the waiting game with her, their last days in this cell were reminiscing about what they could remember about the outside world, before someone did come, and her name was 'Silver'.
And oh, the joy when he saw that she had spawned a sword in her hand. But, he kept himself from making any comments, however, he thought Wolf would have recognised the glints in his eyes.
Whatever could supposive fresh air taste like, what could grass feel like? He planned to find alongside his fellow escapee.

~Present Day~
Midnight paced around in the baby's nursery planning, planning ways to become human. "A spell perhaps will do the trick." She muttered before teleporting into the library.
As she did so she scanned the shelves lined with books. "Come on where are you?" She mumbled continuing to search the shelves. "Ah ha! There you are!" She cried pulling out a spell book, Midnight quickly threw it down onto a table.
She flipped through the pages searching for a spell. The spell that would give her and her children, the best possible chance at having a normal life.
She froze once she laid eyes on the right spell. She started to chant then began to question herself. "If I do this it'll benefit towards my children and I.
But if I don't what will happen? What if I'll miss being a Brine? What am I saying?! Of course I won't miss it. Come on Midnight get it together. Just do the spell."
She thought then sighed and began to focus, she had to put in her best effort. After all it would be the last time she would ever be able to use magic.
Midnight then started to chant again this time she felt different. Maybe the spell was starting to work, but so quickly?
She glanced up a mirror hanging on the wall. and saw her eyes. They were beginning to turn back to a dark brown color, a rush of excitement overcame her.
Just one more sentence and she would be human. Then a sharp pain made itself known, Midnight immediately knew what it was. She began to panic.
"Oh no. Please can't you wait a few more seconds? Or even a minute at the most?" She thought before screaming from another sharp pain. Ignoring it was what she decided to do and kept trying to chant.
But the pain became more and more intense. To a point she could no longer bear it, and she was familiar with this pain. The last time she recalled experiencing it, was when she had her son. As much as she hated to admit it, it was now obvious that Willow was coming.
