"Midnight Symphony"
In the woods there is a sound
A tiny, harmonious glee
Of the violins and harps
In the Midnight Symphony
Cueing and conducting
With his powerful baton
The maestro summons a chorus
That lasts until the dawn
The birds sleep through this sonnet
All people go to bed
And while the orchestra is playing
The nocturnal eat instead
With violins so euphonious
With flutes so dulcet
A drum beating in the background
But they're not done playing yet
A choir joins in slowly
The audience stands in fear
Of the magnificent "piano man"
His solo coming near
His antennae swaying with
The excellence that is he
He plays with such exuberance
In the Midnight Symphony
The stars shine down upon him
His wings glowing in the light
Everyone is enchanted who heard him
Upon this blessed night
A tune is not unbalanced
No note left out of key
His playing is perfection
Anyone with ears could see
The clarinets appear behind him
A French horn to his left
No instrument or voice compares
To him, a player so deft
His song is slowing down
No two sounds are the same
He's just about to finish
When someone calls his name
"Criketon" a soft voice calls
To his mother it belongs
She smiles and sways her head
To the beauty of his song
And when the night is over
The sun rises pleasantly
The music stops with one last note
In the Midnight Symphony
