"There's a spider in the bathroom."

I trudged to the door, reluctantly opening it. I was met with the hottest boy I've ever seen.

Like, really, really hot.

His blonde hair was spiked upwards, and his lip ring glinted and moved as he spoke.

"Hi, I'm Luke," he says unenthusiastically, pushing past me and into the large living room. He plopped down onto the couch, immediately making himself at home.

"Um, hi. I'm.. Lacey - "

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Your dad kidnapped my mother," he interrupted coolly.

"What? No! Actually, it was the other way around!" I didn't know why I was getting so flustered. There's just something about this guy that I can't point out, exactly.

My fists clench together at my sides as he stands, brushing past me. So much for first impressions. If Luke was going to be difficult, I would too.

"Look, I don't know who you think you are, but you can't just act like you own my house. Hell, I didn't even know you were moving in until like, ten minutes ago! So fück off!"

He turned, taking a step towards me, reaching his hand out and touching my hair. He moves down, feeling my blonde hair, until he reaches my back, and he pulls. Hard.

"Ow!" I shriek, shoving him away. He smirks. "I'm exactly what I think I am," he starts. "I'm your stepbrother now."

"Hey!" Nadia comes up behind me and snaps at Luke. "Be nice, please."

I turn. "Oh, hey Nadia," I feign excitement. She smiles. "Hey, Lacey! How long have you known about our moving plans?" She gets right to the point.

"Oh, actually, I've known for a long time," I joke, "a few minutes now." I direct that at Dad, who is smiling sheepishly.

"Oh wow!" She grins. "So, about the wedding. Are you going to help plan?" She makes me sit next to her on the couch as the U-haul men drag in her decorative crap. "Sure," I smile widely, but as I turn away, it immediately wipes from my face. No way was I going to help plan a wedding I don't approve of.

"Hey, back to me," Luke snaps his fingers in my face, "I'm going to take a tour of the house, if you don't mind."

Nadia frowns at him. "You don't announce that. You ask."

"Well, I live here now, right?"

"Um, technically, yes - "

"Exactly. So I can do whatever I want." He stomps up the stairs obnoxiously, walking into the closest door. Which so happened to be the bathroom. I hear a shriek, and I snort, trying to keep myself from laughing.

He pops his head around the corner, feigning calm. "There's a spider in the bathroom."

"Don't be such a girl," I called up to him, smirking when he glares. "Just..come squish it."

"Fine." I stalk up the stairs and look for the spider. I squeeze around a man holding a hideous side-table. I wrinkle my nose at it as I go by. This is one reason why i don't want that lady here. She has horrid taste.

I walk into the bathroom, and I can't help but laugh when I see Luke standing on top of the toilet. The spider sits on the counter, and I poke it. It didn't move.

Then I recognize it. It was Kaitlyn's spider. Kaitlyn was like a little sister to me. She lives next door, and she was trying to play a prank on my dad.

"Luke," I chuckled, "it's plastic."

"Oh. I totally knew that!" He retorted, and I laughed. "C'mon, you sissy."

He followed me out of the bathroom as Nadia chuckles at him. "Well, I'll talk to you guys later. I need to take a walk, if you don't mind," I informed as Nadia nodded and Luke scoffed.

I had a FitBit bracelet, and I'm trying to reach my goal of 10,000 steps. I only have 3,000 right now.

As I walk out the door, I heard Luke say, "I'm going to tour the rest of the house." I scoffed and yelled up to him not to go in my room. That probably made him curious, and knowing him, he'll probably go in there.

I walk down the driveway, my black Converses crunching on the pavement. I walk down the street, and as I pass by Kaitlyn's house, I hear someone shout out my name.

"Lacey!"

I look up to the top window, where Kaitlyn was hanging out and waving at me. I wave back and smile as she disappears from my view and runs out the front door. "Hey!" She shouts and runs to me. She hugs me, as she does every day.

"Mind if I come with you?" She asks as I flash my FitBit. I smile. "Sure, you can be my little Scout." I ruffle her hair and she tries to duck away.

"So I saw a U-Haul truck in front of your house and thought you were moving! And who was that blonde haired boy at the door?" She questions, leaving me flushed.

"I'm not moving, and the boy you saw at the door is my new stepbrother. They're moving in today."

"Oh my god, he's so hot!"

"Stop, you're making it weird."

"What? He is!"

"Kaitlyn, that's my stepbrother. And you're only thirteen. He's twenty."

"Well," she starts, raising an eyebrow, "If not, you're only a year apart!" Nudge. Wink.

"No."

"You know those stories, where they always do things with their stepbrother - "

"Stop!"

"You're blushing."

My eyes widen, and I'm speechless. She was right. I am blushing.

Holy shït.
