⁰¹·⁴⁶am

Not too long ago did I escape
The space between those four walls
That was once my solace.

Whatever made it unlike its previous state?
Whatever stole its solitude?
Whatever made it so unfriendly, so unwelcoming?

Had I overestimated its value
Or had I become too dependent;
Too vulnerable to be warned of its hidden face?

I cast a weary eye at the sky;
The first time after I had seen it before dissolving
Beneath the sheets of my anguish.

'Twas pitch black in the younger hours;
Now, it boasted of an electric blue -
Which seemed impossible at first.

So accustomed I was to its carbon grey shade
That I failed to recall that comets, too,
Existed in the same world as silver linings.

Like a perfectly timed music box,
It gracefully drew its way on its luminescent canvas
Marking the beginning of the next part of the night.
